I was late finding John’s videos. I started this journey last August with bands and John’s videos were invaluable for bands. I am in the gym 6 days a week now training for my first show this August! I use John’s videos for all my training. I had hoped to meet him to say thank you in person but i will have to wait till heaven. I was in a bad place last year and John and his positive attitude helped me out of it. Thanks you!

Every workout should be better, than the last one. Once you get proper forms and the mind muscle connection, workouts get on another level. Personally I started lifting, after a hard 2 year brake, and I lost about 60lbs, for the last 5 months and im hitting PR's almost every 2 weeks. As soon as you see the results you get motivated even more and you start thinking about how the next workout will be even better !

Most people stop the set or break form as soon as they start feeling little burning. At this point they could do atleast 1-2 more reps with perfect form if they could ignore the burning but instead they break form and do 5 more partial reps, use cheating or bounce the wait using momentum. To quote something I've heard awhile go on the CW's Arrow show: "Pain is inevitable but suffering is optional!"

This is perfect advice to me!! Not sure why someone Natural wouldn’t think they should train this way? Since I’ve started doing these beginning sets before I actually push to failure I feel I’m truly getting where I need to be and without hurting myself, it’s odd I actually fell like I recover faster too, this morning I was hitting back and for me if I don’t feel I’m truly hitting failure I’ll just add on another set heavier weight and count that as my work set until my form goes or I can’t lift the weight - I’m finally seeing some good progress following your techniques! Thank you 🙏🏻

I'm 38, train each body part twice a week, been training for 2.5 years. Only reps I leave in the tank are warmup sets. Everything else is to failure or as close I can get to failure. I tend to work more in the volume range because of my age. I don't want to mess up my joints at this point. So my "heavy" sets are in the 8-10 range and my volume sets 12-20 depending on which body part.

  • @RedgraveStrength
    @RedgraveStrength 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

All I know is I made much better progress when pushing closer to failure rather than doing a bunch of high volume straight sets. Love the video John can't wait to see more of what you've got going on. Keep up the awesome work👊

I'm so glad more people are finally coming back to talking about trainging again. I stead of the you know what. Training always Comes first! That's the hardest pill for people to swallow. And if you can't love and find passion to learn proper training you shouldn't be thinking about anything else whatsoever and definitely go find another passion. Many thanks John. ☘️💪

    Again. Absolutely correct John👍
It really is about providing the maximum amount of stress on a muscle group with maximum amount of overload
Under complete control throughout the movement.
Even now 10yrs later, My leg routine is only 4 sets for example.
    4 sets for thighs.
I’m physically not able to do more set’s.
and want to vomit every single time.
Being natural too, My workouts are brutal.
Natural or enhanced, the workload has to be
    There.
Example. If I May, as follow’s.
    Squats.
Warmup: 20kg plate aside up to 4 plates 6-8 reps full squats (warms & pumps thighs hams glutes)
1st set: 220kg to complete failure (around 10)
2nd set: 6 plates. As above to failure (around 5)
    drop-set 4plates to failure
Again down to 3 then 2 then 1 plate.
2 work sets done to complete muscular fail.
    Leg press.
    Warmup:
5 plates aside 20 reps (below parallel) heels in toes out inner thighs & inner hamstring adductors.
    1st set
11 plates aside as above 20 reps to failure.
    2nd set:
14 plates aside as above 14reps failure
Drop set. 10 plates then 15reps failure
Then rock bottom quarter reps to fail
    That’s it.!
    2 work Sets
    30” quads

mountaindog1 I have stayed away from barbells and have used dumbells and machines only because I am scared of reinjuring myself. I had therapy for sciatica pain but I'm good now. I do all my squats with 55-80lbs in each hand 3 reps of 8, with a warm-up set then increasing intensity. I want to build but I still fear barbells, lol. Thanks for all your info and love the Ultimate Performance Stack!

Great advice around the 5:00 mark. Today I did a pyramid workout on barbell bench working up after warmup : sets of 3 80kg-107.5kg then back down to a last set of 80kg AMRAP (feet off the floor) 3 weeks ago I did the 107.5 and got 4 very clean reps (felt like I had 5 with good form. Today however the 3rd rep @107'5 felt very heavy.
I felt deflated about this... but listening to Meadows talk about progressions ensured me that all is not lost.. a tiny step back is not the end of the world!

I mean as much as I abide by the motto that you each and every session should be given 110% effort or its simply a wasted training session, I now digress. My body has just been shot due to a mix of work and working out. It really does catch up to you, I need to manage it better. Great video John!
