Yeah, John was amazing. Working up all that knowledge over a lifetime and sharing it for free is crazy. He draws knowledge from his own training and people that he has trained with. His knowledge is robust.
If you follow what he is teaching you, you'll understand that it is not only his own experience that he is sharing, but influences from people like Platz, Dave Tate, Westside + many more and he also has a great understanding of the science. He combines the two into bodybuilding and that makes him very special.

    1) split/routine, have an arm day
    2) Going too heavy, choose a moderate weight. form>weight
    3) If choosing a moderate weight, go to failure more often/high intensity
    4) Form, stop hip thrusting
    5) elbows a rising a bit isn't bad
    6) Swinging with shoulders, keep elbow pinned to side
    7) Supinate (curl inward) at the bottom
    8) Train your brachialis (hammer curls/reverse curl)
    9) Preacher curl, sit back and don't use momentum
    10) Exercise selection that have the same sticking spot , choose 3 exercises that have different sticking points (bottom, middle, top)

    • @MrDanielWP
      @MrDanielWP 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

@gRetax G0D - TBH, no one actually knows what is optimal because the science on this is completely trash. (Seriously) In my experience, with myself and training partners, cholesterol is HUGE in terms of energy and recovery. Beef is extremely high in protein - 60 grams in an 8 oz serving of Sirloin - and it has good amounts of cholesterol.
What the science is clear on is:
      1. Carbs are 100% not needed for humans to live healthy lives.
      2. Cholesterol is absolutely needed to make new cells. It is required for the membrane wall. The brain needs it, too.
      3. Not all protein is the same. Soy or Pea protein is much lower in important Aminos Acids/BCAAs than Whey. Leucine, specifically, is very important in building muscle tissue. Beef is extremely high in all the Amino Acids you need for muscle building.
The bottom line is: you need cholesterol for the formation of new muscle cells, in order to form healthy membranes on your new cells. The harder you work out, the more cholesterol your body needs.
So, by getting steak, you get tons of protein, cholesterol, and micronutrients like Iron and B vitamins. It also has Creatine. I supplement with Whey and Collagen, but that's less than 50 grams a day. I am eating 280+ grams of protein per day.

Nice vid mate, you hit the nail on the head about people throwing up the weights, not doing proper contractions. Also dividing the movements into three parts, muscle at full extension, mid-range, & full contraction, and keeping the muscles under tension with slow movements & releases - that really hurts! All this applies to any muscle group. I've only gotten back into weight training in the last two years (now badly setback), age 68, and I'm really enjoying it, now trying to work out with improvised equipment at home.

Thanks for the tips John! An arm day would certainly do it, but I also think a lot of people are incorrectly applying full body splits by neglecting isolation work. For instance, I believe Jeff Nippard’s full body 5x/wk split includes 3 direct bicep exercises and 2 direct triceps exercises. I also like How To Beast’s full body format. He does 1 push, 1 pull, 1 legs, and 3 isolation exercises per workout

Brilliant! Realised I’ve been over training my brachial radialis rather than my bicep - thank you

My brachiradialis always takes over, lately now my mind/muscle is a lot better in the right, still working on that connection for the left

Awesome explanations on this series...it's easy to see you've been through the ringer and know your stuff. Appreciate the help - and LOL "you must curl in the squat rack" line was great

Wow this video alone has explained to me what I've been doing wrong with my biceps. Always felt it only in my forearms as you mentioned in the video. Got to the point where I couldn't even curl as the forearm muscle were in to much pain.
Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge with us all.
Me being 49 now and trying to stay healthy and in shape to be around longer for my boys means everything to me.
    Thank you!

I just saw this video again and I cannot believe those things are for free. Maybe this is why John has a so passionate fan base. People realise that this man gives out pure gold every time, not trying to get more views and likes through bs that other 'fitness' youtubers provide. Big thanks sir!

You're gone, but still making us stronger every day. You'll never be forgotten sir. My brother-in-law and I would wake up at the crack of dawn and watch all of your content every morning before heading to the gym. He and I both smokers, recovering alcoholics and just unhealthy people in general.. You made us better. Thanks, still and always.

For the longest time I was wondering why my left arm wasnt growing like my right arm, and I knew to train the negative and other tips you gave; but it was entirely different watching you perform the exercises and I realized positioning of my arms and body were totally off and I wasnt able to train my left arm to its fullest (Theres an imbalance in the left side of my body I have to correct). So thank you for the extra tips and demonstrating the exercises.

Yes. This! I am that guy that trained my arms too heavy (biceps). Almost a year ago i got injured. And still i am just recently able to train biceps. But i have to be really careful. I have dropped the weight very low, but sometimes it still hurts. I was able to lift heavy properly. BUT. I am now a firm beliver in "just because you can lift it, doesn't mean you should." And I would say this gets more true with age.

100000% agree with the split thing. You will almost never find a single bodybuilder (natural or otherwise) who has world-class arms who doesn’t have a dedicated arm day 💪🏻 by the time you’ve done all your presses and rows you’re too fried to properly train your arms, plus they’re already weakened.
