Disagree on brake feel. Night and day difference between the stock brakes with red stuff pads, and the 355mm rotors and calipers with red stuff pads. Did swap out the stock hoses for steel braid lines as well.
Yes, stainless lines and stop tech pads. Maybe your non sport brakes were in poor condition but I had stop tech pads and stainless lines with my non sports for awhile, which I’m sure was an improvement. So the move from that setup to these is minimal. And there’s testing data out there showing stopping distance improvement was negligible. Resistance to brake fade, however, is where the improvement is really made.
@ no not really. It helps with reducing brake fade, but will have minimal impact on stopping distance, especially in just normal driving. Tires play a bigger role in that scenario.
I bought some akebono bbk for my 2019 q50 from rock auto, that got them from a remanufacture (Cardono). I have sent back 3 calipers and rebuilt the insides… Me personally I would disagree because you are rolling the dice when getting “USED” calipers. Not to mention time and having to get them re powder -coated all over again… Buy New if you can.. just because some guy in a TH-cam video had good luck, doesn’t mean you will… speaking from experience, it will be a headache.
Hundreds of people since this video have had great luck - and not all are remanufactured. And if you’re powder coating, you have to rebuild them anyway.
The pads and rotors (from the dealer) on my 2017 infinity QX60 aren’t lasting more than 15k miles due to occasional hard braking. Is there an aftermarket upgrade that you believe may last longer than the OEM parts?
Can i the brake on 18x7.5 sport wheels? and also for the front(raw) it said only work for 2016 and above will it fit for 2014 3.7 one even with sport wheels?
Nice have you ever thought about getting the Rollaface or even big boy Brembos or Stoptech 6 piston front 4 piston rear. I have seen the Rollaface ones very nice and cool plus you get a much bigger surface area for dissipating heat and resisting brake fade.
They fit some 18” wheels including my g37x/q60 awd coupe 10 spokes without spacers, albeit barely. Here’s a reference for some common wheels or you can also check forums to see if anyone else has tried it. conceptzperformance.com/wiki/index.php/Akebono_Wheel_Clearance

i think z1 motorsports has a kit with everything (choice of pads, rotors, stainless steel lines, and brake fluid) except calipers for a bit over $600. Throw on some rockauto remanufactured calipers and possible bbk for under $1000
Their standard kit includes some cheap pads but you can upgrade to stoptech pads which are $180 extra. With that, that is exactly the kit described in this video, except free shipping getting rotors from r1 so ends up being a bit cheaper.
@@SpeedCultureStudios thanks for responding bro, saw in the description of the Amazon link that they don’t fit the 2015’s. That’s not true right? Since yours is 2015 as well
Does it really fit in nonsport 17 inches wheels? Have anyone try this at all for their non sport trim? I really want to upgrade a sport caliper but most of them require 19 inches rim. I can upgrade my rim to 19 but I don't know is it going to cause any damage to my car fender so if this does work on a 17 non-sport wheels I will buy it!
It’s not about the how big is the wheel, you can easily fit with 19” or even 18” (I think). Offset is the important part. I went with a positive 23mm offset when I did mine. Worse case scenario you can run spacers while getting the proper wheels
@@SpeedCultureStudios question I’m about to buy them from Amazon but I’m wondering if they come with the pins for the brake pads on the picture it doesn’t show it has them only the brackets for pads
@@SpeedCultureStudios hey sorry to bother but after upgrading the akebonos if using stock lines and I do the brake pedal with seat thing to not let brake fluid leak will I still have to bleed the brakes?

Besides the looks and improved braking, would stock upgraded rotors and pads be sufficient enough for a tuned q50?
Yes. The non-sport brakes are actually quite good. There is no difference in daily driving between those and the sport brakes.

I have not considered any braking upgrades beyond this--there really just is not a need for it with this car or for how it is used.
Any update on the soul function braces?
It’s being filmed! Soul Function is extremely responsive and helpful, I will say that!

They’ll only clear stock sport wheels
Where you got the beak pads from ??
