Why I Left Everything for a Countryside Lifestyle

- If I asked you why I moved to rural Sweden, most of you would say it was because I wanted to leave the stressful city behind. And that’s true. But it’s even more than that.
Because, If I just wanted to get out of the city, why did I also start making these videos? The reason is quite simple; I want to do something that matters, something that helps others. And doing so through creativity.
No matter what I share, and how I share it… I hope there’s someone out there, who gets something out from what I do.
Maybe there’s someone out there, stuck in a city, who feels a tiny bit of freedom through the work I do. That would mean everything to me. Because not that long ago, I was that guy. I know how much someone's creative work can mean.
So if I would sum up why I do what I do, I would say this;
I hope I can do for someone else, what someone once did for me.

Lots of painters have trouble calling themselves artists but they are Artists. You take photos, and videos and present your life to us, you are expressing yourself creatively even when you are just talking about chocolate! 😊You are an artist, creative, vlogger, photographer, and a lovely human being, being!
I agree! I took an art course and on day one the teachers said, "you are all artists." You don't need a fancy degree or diploma to prove you are an artist. We are all artists and creative beings ❤
There are no "bad" photos here. I love all of them.
I actually really like the one by the waterfall, with the contrasting splash of red. It has a wonderful sense of movement and it almost looks like a beautiful red bird has just taken flight. ❤️

English might not be your first language but you speak a universal language through your photos and videos. I loved the sunset photo. It reminded me of a perfect moment in time on a beach during sunset where the colours made my soul sing and time stood still. Don't stop doing what you do, don't stop experimenting - because the 'bad' compositions make the 'good' compositions even better. It does not matter how many times you climb to the top of the mountain, the vista simply takes my breath away.

Good Morning from the UK Daniel and I opened your video at 4.30 am to see some beautifully awesome scenery and it is stunning. I left the UK to go and live and work Shanghai some years ago and Yes it is initially very difficult but when you have through the first 6 months or so transition it becomes fun. I cannot compare my move to yours physically but the emotional rollercoaster experience is the same. I had little or no help and was alone and had to adjust to a completely new culture and language. I was 59 years old at the time and everyone thought I was insane but it is something I needed to do for myself and to escape the rut I was in here.I envy you and your chosen new lifestyle in so many ways and your videos are simply a joy to watch.
Oh yes, it can be a true rollercoaster! I don't think it really matters where you move. If you move, it's gonna stir up a lot of emotions! But I do think what you've done might be even tricker, to be honest!! I saw it first hand with my ex Alex, when he moved from the US to Sweden. It's such a culture shock!

Great job, Daniel. Love the photo with the branch. I do like the sunset photo with you spreading out the blanket on your shoulders. I would have also used that lantern set on a tree stump with blowing snow around it. Or hang it on a branch blowing in the wind. Use yourself and objects to do a few things with each photo session. You are doing fantastic finding your way. Anything can be used to photograph. It's your creativity that makes it yours. At 30:10, the close-up of you with the blue and grey hat and scarf combination is so pretty with your blue eyes. That's a nice photo, please take one. ❤

You enrich one so much with this fine, searching art mood! You make me rethink my own life more and more. I used to paint and photograph a lot...with all my heart, full of concentration and calm. Now I live in a larger Swiss city where my heart somehow doesn't feel at home ...the beautiful mountains are a little further away...When I spent the summer last year in Sweden near Stockholm in a very Special place, I felt at home and my heart felt as liberated and content as heaven on earth... if I could I would move to Sweden immediately... I thank you very much for reminding me again to listen to your own heart! Great photos and wonderful atmosphere with a certain magical modesty in your videos!! thank you very much!!! Hello Daniel, wow what a beautiful video! I loved all the photos you took of yourself!! I loved the one with the striped shawl while the sun was setting a lot!! I like bright colours in everything. The ones you didn't like were, in my eyes, beautiful too. The red really suited you. And the ones with the lantern are magical!! Both also different because you wear different colours of clothes. I love that you buy your clothes in a second-hand store. I also buy my clothes second hand. They're different from the regular stores, much cheaper and didn't have to be manufactured!!
You are a real artist, you show us so many beautiful magical moments from the place you live. I'm so happy you are glad with your decision to move from the city to the country side. You are very courageous to have done that. I can hear in the way you talk about it how happy it makes you. And your face lights up too.

Hi Daniel! Another awesome video! Also, I want to say that I really liked the first photo of you in the pink shirt throwing the red garment into the air. The red garment looked more like a poppy flower and that's why I liked that one. I think it would be an awesome painting! 🌺And I loved the second lantern photo with you in suspenders that you included in your video. I loved it because it reminded me of before "modern" times and the outfit really matched with the lantern & scenery and made the photo really stand out to me. One other thing I wanted to say is that I love that you are so "raw" with your videos. You recognize that you are new at this type of photography and even though you are a perfectionist, you are also true and honest about the process. It makes your viewers appreciate your favorites (and ours) and accomplishments more, I think. Keep doing what you do, Daniel! Your true fans will always be behind you! ❤

Hi Daniel! An excessively composed picture kills spontaneity, which I think is your strength. Your videos are so good precisely because you make them instinctively, giving yourself. For me, what you have to say loses its power if you focus on externals. Of course, learn, try interesting and important options and techniques for you, but the main thing in all of this is you. Your personality, your sensitivity to the world and the environment around you. I love the way you are, the way you fight with yourself, the feelings you have inside, and the way you document it all. You are a fan and so are your works. I agree fully! That's why I liked the photo with the red jacket in the snow! Because I just took it spontaneously! I didn't try to arrange anything, I just felt like going down to the lake and playground, having fun. While with the other shots, I was more eager to really capture something great - and ended up with something I didn't like, because it felt forced!

Just the thought that I was able to give someone goosebumps... Oh wow! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart! 💗
It's also a special picture because you draw the viewer in over the perspective: you looking to the left while the jacket stays kinda in place while the eye wonders over/about the stick. That really makes it work imho. I also like the second one with the storm lantern as it brings a slide within a narrative: a young man caught in a moment of... astonishment? Enlightenment? Consideration? We don't know and that makes it captivating. I took a lot of photo's myself just with my phone. I trained myself while being part of Pride Parades, being on a boat or walking or whatever. Looking around, taking in all the small scenes between the crowds of cheering and singing and dancing people. It trained me to look sharply and take very quick decisions. I really liked that. But would never call myself 'a photographer'. Actually, I always considered myself to be more of a writer, as I did that so much for my work but also wrote stories for fun. But as time progresses you realise that It's just about being creative and enjoying that. And if it makes someone else relate to it or smile about it, as you say, that's a very rewarding bonus. 💙

Thank you Daniel. We thoroughly enjoyed our month in Sweden. I long for city life. I've lived in the country in the US, that is now not the country, and have to drive a car everywhere I go. I long to walk to the grocery store and Fika shops, and for the energy of life around me. I love nature, but it's so different here in the US. I'm so glad you get to make your dreams come true. I hope mine will come true, too.

Dear Daniel. As you showed us the new clothes from the second hand shop I felt you going through mixed feelings. I felt the joy and the gratitude. Maybe because you found what you were wishing for and enjoyed the appearance of it. (For me clothes are something beautiful to express myself in a creative way.) I also felt you experiencing guilt and you told about your high value of living minimalistic.
I have experienced a long period of commiting myself to high values like vegan/minimalistic/co2 neutral, etc.
I asked myself, is this 100% really needed to live in harmony with nature?
Generally, could it be, the more we flow from intuition, living as ourselfs connected with all, don't we feel very clearly what is being supported from life and what is harming life. Do we need this 100% rules? Don't we choose and move then spontaneusly for the good of ALL? Maybe then it is also possible to enjoy fully the gift that life is giving us. For example in the moment of receiving the clothes from the second hand shop. I see it through the eyes of life is supporting you expressing yourself from the bottom of the heart and touching with it thousand of other hearts in the world. I feel this is definitively supported from live.

I feel you! I do self-portraits too in my Viking Clothings! It's much hard work, one needs much patience and commitment 😅 It happened many times that I almost threw my camera away because nothing seemed to work 😂 But it can be sooooo much fun and looking at the final results is always so rewarding and feels so magical. And you can feel so powerful and independent because you are not relying anymore on someone who has the time, the skills and the patience to take nice pictures of you. So have a lot of fun! Thank you Danielerik for this wonderful video. I live in a city and really enjoy all the nature in Sweden, around where you live. The Netherlands is a country that you can drive through in about 4 hours and where almost 18 million people live. It's a miracle we still have nature. Your red clothes make a nice complementary difference in your photos and videos I think.

Oh my good haha, I'm editing a video right this second on the topic of wanting to spend time doing meaningful things and live calmly, so I loved watching this video and feel a lot of kinship in it 🙏 It was wonderful to follow along on your photoshoots! I liked many of them and something I think of often is how difficult it can be to take pictures in the forest or other more "busy" places, like you by the waterfall. Depending on what you're after, it often demands a shorter depth of field (bigger apature), to calm down the environment, like with the photo you like the most, with the stick by the lake. Also, many times I feel like the feelings I had when shooting distorts my perception of the image. If I was stressed, I feel like it shows, and so on. Wow, I realize I just wrote a novel haha! 😂 But it's so much fun to talk creative endeavours 😍
Oh, I really agree with you fully! The aperture is key when it comes to photos like that! Unfortunately, my lens don't let me go as far down as I'd like... Hopefully I can afford a better lens, eventually! And yes, the mood we're in definitely can show in the photos!! In the ones I didn't like, I was almost hyper, so full of excitement that it kinda affected the photo in a negative way. Like, there was a lot going on in my head, and thus, there's a lot going on in the photo - too much! 😂

Daniel, I really appreciate how you verbalize your deep thoughts. What i see in your personality is somewhat of a reflection of myself. However, it's difficult because people don't understand my personality. They think I'm talking too much, overthinking things, or being too sensitive. Listening to you validates me and makes me feel more normal. I always look forward to watching your videos with my partner, so thank you for continuing to share your stories.
