I also celebrate Christmas with my grandma, something I never thought I would get to do again. That meant everything to me! ❤️

@@DanielErik Hi Daniel, we're starting in Tromso, then heading to Abisko & Jokkmokk for the winter market, then Skelleftea, Stockholm & Gothenburg. My family is from Skelleftea, the Sami side, and Gothenburg/Malmo area (a while ago now). I hope to see a lot of snow, do a lot of skating, cross country skiing and taking polar dips :) (you can take the Swede out of Sweden, but you can't take the Swede out of the Swede) 🙂 Oh, and we'll be staying for a month.

This is really beautiful, and my grandmother just passed away last spring and she was also a pianist (and harpsichordist). We were lucky it went pretty much as well as one could hope for, but losing family is always hard. Glad you got to share some beautiful moments with her.

Oh yes, I'm the same way with chocolate!! The only thing that will stop me is when I've had so much that I can't eat more because I'll get sick to my stomach! So I know this chocolate won't last as long as I intended! 😅

Your grandma is so lovely, Daniel! My great-grandma had an unoperable lung tumor and she was with us till the age of 91! Her brain was working wonderfully, only legs were too weak, so she had a wheelchair, but other than that, she was a VERY lively lady!

Daniel, this is one of my favorite videos. I loved meeting your grandmother and watching the two of you play piano together. You were creating good memories that will stay with you. Sweden is beautiful in winter but I don't think I would enjoy the very cold temperatures or a dip in the lake. 😀 You have good taste in chocolate...one of my favorite varieties. I get what you mean! That was how I looked at it just a few year ago myself, actually! I used to hate the winter! I don't know what happened, more than that I started to embrace nature in general, but now I actually love the winter! The cold is definitely hard, but it's also something truly magic that it brings with it.
I'm glad if I can at least give you a glimpse of that magic, through my camera lens! So you won't have to be in these temperatures yourself! 🥰

I love the Swedish language SO much. It calms me a lot! I have Swedish ancestors on my mothers side but I don´t know which part of Sweden they came from. I´m from Denmark and when I was a little girl the only childrens tv in the mornings was in Swedish. So I watched that with my American dad : ) in the mornings on weekends. When I played with my "invisible friends" it was often in my own make -believe Swedish language : D

In the 2000s, it has been colder than this in Finland only once before in 2006, when -43.6 degrees was measured in Kittilä.

We used to snowshoe/crosscounty ski backpacking on the Pacific Crest Trail near Lake Tahoe California. Some years very little snow, other years over 4 meters and super cold! The coldest night we ever had was minus 32 Celsius. You could stay in your house I think with a wood stove, if we slept in tents/snow caves at that temperature. Happy New Year!

You got to love how fathers love to do little home improvement jobs when they visit. It's one way they show their love.
For walking in all that deep snow, do you have snowshoes? They make it so much easier to trek across all that snow and not worry about sinking or getting stuck in it. :)

I do have snow shoes, but I don't always use them! Sometimes I just cover my shoes with my winter pants, so no snow come in! And then I pulse through the snow, even though it's much harder! 😂
You are a beautiful soul, Daniel. This video reminded me of my close relationship with my grandmother. She lived just down the street during my childhood and was always there when I needed a refuge from my big, chaotic family. Grandmothers are God's gift to us. Yours is lovely!! 🙏❤
