I've really got back in to FSX in the past couple of weeks, and I am so glad I found your channel after watching endless tutorials elsewhere. Your videos are by the far the most detailed and up to date, they've been a massive help and you've definitely got a new viewer! Thank you for your work, and keep it up :)
It's great to hear you're back into FSX - being such a good game - and I'm really glad that you're liking my videos and especially the tutorials in that you find that some useful. Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe!
I have a problem with IFR-landing. The ATC won't tune up to give directions and stuff, it's just quiet. Is that because I flew to another country? I tuned up the standby to the frequency of the departure airport. Do I have to do anything with my radio panel if the ATC tells me to tune up with (...)?
It should automatically be tuned in and ready to go when you load in FSX on the ground. For an IFR landing, make sure your GPS has it's flight plan set into it and when on approach, ATC will give you the hand-offs to the right centres and approaches etc. to get instructions to land
IF ON IFR: Make sure to acknowledge ATC instructions and request for altitude changes. ATC will notify you for several waypoint changes. And make sure you listen to handoffs mid-flight. Failure to follow instructions results in flight termination
Hello friend, I have the problem that the atc tells me to go down to 4000 for example, it goes down to 4000 and it keeps telling me to go down to that height, what does that mean, thanks
It is possible, but you'll need to do it not too fast so that you're able to change frequencies as you move between areas (you won't have to over the Pacific)
Heres a tip: if you're flying a heavy (Boeing/Airbus) ALWAYS use IFR when planning your flight! It's sooo much easier and I'm pretty sure actually what they do IRL.
Please help me!!!! When I click on air traffic control, it runs without any problems. But... When I turn on one of its options, I do not see any message in atc or sound ... what is the problem???? please help me !!!
when you want atc to tell you directions to a airport, do you go to the flight planner and then just put the airport you want to land on and the tower will automatically guide you to it? and do you choode vfr or ifr?
I have a problem, I havent seen the video yet but I wonder if anyone could help me. When I am close to start descent, the tower doesnt talks to me for a reason. This happens to me mainly on intl flights. PLEASE HELP!!!
I dont get automated handoff to Center frequency. Ground, tower, departure and approach works fine, but I never get handoff to center while flying IFR. How can this be? I bought FSX steam edition few weeks ago, and I can remember 6-7 years ago when I fly IFR, I would always get automated handoff to center and the flight following on it. Can you help?
Hello I’m trying to depart from Taipei airport but as soon as I request and acknowledge the atc clearance the only thing the window says is just: “No more options for Taipei clearance delivery” but not even manually tuning the ground frequency it gives me options to request taxi instructions or whatsoever... what might be happening there??
Fsx atc is still one of the best atc in flight sims despite being 12 years old. I would pay up to £60 for an add on that is as good for xplane but they all have shortcomings. Either only handling IFR or with no filter being applied to the voices so they all sound nothing like radios actually sound (no bass). Also some only have one male voice for all controllers.
Jack's FS Videos I have xplane 10 and the atc is alright if you are IFR. But xplane lacks the proper AI aircraft out of the box (and therefore the relevant background radio chatter) and it doesn't cater for VFR.
I have no plans to start a Twitch channel as both my previous live streams have been on TH-cam. I'd rather not have two places for the same audience as I can get more views for the live stream by staying on TH-cam.
It's a reference to your current direction, so you are always travelling at 12 o'lock (no matter your heading). So 6 o'clock would be directly behind you (a turn of 180 degrees)
Jack's FS Videos Okay thank you. So ok. You click the heading till its a line directly behind you THANKS A LOT AND I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL keep up the good work!! 😊
Jack's FS Videos so 180 degrees is what in heading I cant calculate it cause when the pink heading line goes pst 1/3 of the way you can see it so you dont know
For me when I'm flying IFR and get close to my destination the atc just forgets about me and doesn't give me commands to descend from cruise altitude. Either that or it will tell me to descend way too late like 50 nm from the destination
For example I'm in cruise at FL360, 80 nm from KMIA, haven't manually requested a lower cruise alt because I want to see if atc will do it properly, they tell me to descend to FL290 when I'm like 60 nm away and still at cruising speed
It means set your heading to that of the runway, and continue to fly it until told otherwise. For example, Heathrow runway 9L has a heading of approximately 90
Pushback isnt working for me? I dont have brakes on, engines are on, did the pushback thing correctly and it said the same stuff as it did in vid! Help
Jack can u please help me as me and my friend are trying to play on multiplayer on fsx steam edition and when i make a session my friend cant find it and when i sen him an invite it says friends session not found and it is the same when he sends me an invite to his game and people have said to change the ports and that did not work and they also said to turn off firewall settings but if i done that i thought it would allow viruses through.
I'm afraid as I've never used multiplayer yet on the Steam Edition that I would find it difficult to help you. Please message my Facebook, Twitter or Instagram page or email quoting 'YT-HTU-090117-01' and one of my volunteers might be able to help you out.
Took this from a forum: The number is atmospheric pressure measured in inches of mercury. Atmospheric pressure is basically the force with which the mass of air above you "pushes you down". Now, because of atmospheric conditions, pressure is not the same everywhere. So, let's say you take off from airport AAA. The "local QNH" or local altimeter setting may be - say 29,75. This is the *accurate local* pressure. Which means, that your altimeter, once set to 29,75 will show you your actual, real altitude. Now, as you pass 18,000 ft (in the US) you need to switch your altimeter setting to 29,92. Why? Is that the real pressure over 18,000? No. But above that altitude it's not really necessary to know your real altitude. It IS important to know how far you are from other planes though. Let me give a couple of examples: Northwest 435 is flying at 18000 ft with an altimeter setting of 29,75 Delta 367 is flying at 19000 ft with an altimeter of 29,84 They converge. Are they really 1000 feet apart? No they are not. Try flying up to 18000 feet and switching from 29,75 to 29,84 and see how different the altitude is. If the difference is higher... there might even be a collision. So you see, low on the ground, where you have to know your REAL altitude (so you don't run into a mountain), you use the LOCAL altimeter setting (QNH). High up in the skies we ALL use the SAME QNH, so we know where we all fly. Do we know our real altitude? No. Do we know how far apart we are from others really? Yes. And that's what is important. By the way, 18,000 is the "Transition Altitude" in the U.S. and above that you don't say "altitude" anymore, you say "flight level". Thus, you fly at 17,000 feet, 18,000 feet and then FL190, FL200 etc.. -- Bindolaf
In real life, pilots will use a component called the 'tiller'. However, as this is not an option in FSX, I use the Rudder, which is controlled using my joystick. However, if you'd don't own a joystick, you can see which keys they are programmed under in Options.
What I do is take-off, then when I enter cruise I get an instruction to switch freq, acknowledge the instruction to switch, then don't contact the next ATC. That way you can fly to your destination while AFK and tune back to ATC when approaching your destination.
VFR is Visual Flight Rules and IFR is Instrument Flight Rules. It just basically means how ATC will direct you and the rules you follow while in the air, commercial airlines will only ever use IFR and even general aviation have to use IFR in bad weather. And you can press Scroll Lock to bring it up, or hold down Alt and then in the View panel along the top, open ATC :)
In the FSX main interface, click 'Flight Planner...'. Then select your departure and arrival airport along with 'IFR' and then for commercial flights, select 'High-altitude airways' and click 'Find Route'. Then go through the rest of the procedure and launch FSX.
***** IIRC didn't you make a video about moving over to your other channel on the new years? Or perhaps I'm mistaken haha. PS: Love you videos, keep up the good work :)
Sorry, I didn't realise you were talking about the number of videos for the year. I just discovered you and I looovvvee it I already learned a ton in just 3 vids thx so much
Thank you so much! Make sure you hit subscribe and keep watching those videos! Again, thank you :)
Is it possible to do an IFR with ATC but fast forwarded? Example: New York to Tokyo
If so, what should I do?
It is possible, but you'll need to do it not too fast so that you're able to change frequencies as you move between areas (you won't have to over the Pacific)
You helped me a lot with this VFR taxi video. I subbed to you
Glad I could help and thanks so much for subbing!

when you want atc to tell you directions to a airport, do you go to the flight planner and then just put the airport you want to land on and the tower will automatically guide you to it? and do you choode vfr or ifr?
You use the Flight Planner to plan your flight, after you tell ATC you're requesting a IFR to that airport, they will guide you there after take-off.
I have a problem, I havent seen the video yet but I wonder if anyone could help me. When I am close to start descent, the tower doesnt talks to me for a reason. This happens to me mainly on intl flights. PLEASE HELP!!!

How to gave pmdg for fsx
Is there an option to disable the default atc??
When the airport pops up and you select it immediately do you still have enough time to prepare for landing?
Yes plenty of time, it's pretty similar to real life
Fsx atc is still one of the best atc in flight sims despite being 12 years old. I would pay up to £60 for an add on that is as good for xplane but they all have shortcomings. Jack's FS Videos I have xplane 10 and the atc is alright if you are IFR. But xplane lacks the proper AI aircraft out of the box (and therefore the relevant background radio chatter) and it doesn't cater for VFR.
Ah okay well I’ll give it a go
Jack you should start a twitch channel and start streaming with aerosoft A320
I have no plans to start a Twitch channel as both my previous live streams have been on TH-cam. I'd rather not have two places for the same audience as I can get more views for the live stream by staying on TH-cam.
Could someone explain why I do not get the option to select departure and only approach?
Depends on the airport, some airports will have fewer frequencies because it's less busy
Is there a way of landing with ILS using the ATC?
He has video
Yeah you use the ATC to guide you down to the runway and then intercept the ILS (video on my channel)
Does 6 o clock like mean heading six or? Like on the GPS make the heading towards six oclock
Can I also ask what is the route used in this video?
Jack's FS Videos so 180 degrees is what in heading I cant calculate it cause when the pink heading line goes pst 1/3 of the way you can see it so you dont know

FINALLY I dont nead too Hear the guy saying YOU WERE NOT CLEARED TO TAKE-OFF!!
Great to hear the video helped you out! Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe!
Of course i subbed
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
What is the meaning of 'fly runway heading'. Like what to do we enter in the autopilot?
Sukrit Taneja you dont do anything about the heading when they say fly runway hdg
Keep flying straight
It means set your heading to that of the runway, and continue to fly it until told otherwise. For example, Heathrow runway 9L has a heading of approximately 90
Pushback isnt working for me? I dont have brakes on, engines are on, did the pushback thing correctly and it said the same stuff as it did in vid! Help
You mean just getting a pushback from the gate does work, Shift+P?
Make sure your parking brake is off
What is D class transition

ok
If I have an emergency is there any way to request an emergency landing?
Sorry, there's nothing like that on ATC :/
Aw. Maybe there's a mod for that?
Yeah maybe, you'll have to have a look
So how do I know when I can create an approach?
What kind of approach you doing?
Jack's FS Videos I figured it out thanks. Also stay strong Man U will get through it!
How do you get next to a terminal/gate?
In the main FSX interface before you launch your flight, you can select your airport and there are drop-down menus for extra options such as the gate.
How to open the GUI? Shift+A? Shift+C?
Scroll Lock
My son is trying to turn on the ATC how does that work someone please help
Hit Scroll Lock or hold down Alt for the menu bar at the top :)
What does "altimeter 2992" means?
Took this from a forum:

How do you go to the gate to start with
You can select which gate you would like to start FSX in the main FSX interface before you launch the game, when you are selecting the airport.
How do i somehow turn on ifr tower or however you do it? I
Hit `
There's no IFR tower, I'm not sure what you mean?
Thanks in looking how to call mayday I'm new to the game
Aha unfortunately there's no option for a "mayday"!
How can you move the airplane to the right/ left on the ground?
In real life, pilots will use a component called the 'tiller'. However, as this is not an option in FSX, I use the Rudder, which is controlled using my joystick. However, if you'd don't own a joystick, you can see which keys they are programmed under in Options.
I use the 0 (turn left) and ENTER (turn right) on my Number Lock key pad.... RUDDER
Yes, as I mentioned, you will need to use the rudder in FSX.
Turn rudder on
Is this an add-on?
Nope, ATC comes built into FSX, just hit Scroll Lock :)
how to do your graphics ?
Take a look at my FAQ for full details :)
I always use IFR
Yeah I do most of the time :)
Still stuck in A320?
What do you mean?
Same mate
It is so annoying sometimes because I can't go AFK with out contacting different frequencies every 10 minutes
You should only have to do that after take-off and before landing
What I do is take-off, then when I enter cruise I get an instruction to switch freq, acknowledge the instruction to switch, then don't contact the next ATC. That way you can fly to your destination while AFK and tune back to ATC when approaching your destination.
wtf is the default button for multiplayer mic!!! HELP
Usually just Caps Lock (hold down to speak), it can be re-assigned
I still dont understand the diffirance and whats better too use
Difference between what?
Jack's FSX Videos between the ifr and vfr and for a weird reason i csnt acces the atc so i am kinda stuck with vfr atm
Jack's FSX Videos sorry i am a noob at this game
😂
VFR is Visual Flight Rules and IFR is Instrument Flight Rules. It just basically means how ATC will direct you and the rules you follow while in the air, commercial airlines will only ever use IFR and even general aviation have to use IFR in bad weather. And you can press Scroll Lock to bring it up, or hold down Alt and then in the View panel along the top, open ATC :)
So in a 737 you never press the butten next too the heading button
FSX' s atc >> X Plane 11's atc. Sad but true!!!
TYSFM
how do you start ifr flight
In the FSX main interface, click 'Flight Planner...'. Then select your departure and arrival airport along with 'IFR' and then for commercial flights, select 'High-altitude airways' and click 'Find Route'. Then go through the rest of the procedure and launch FSX.
Jack's FSX Videos OK thanks man
actually, the second video ;)
I'm not sure what you mean - could you explain?
***** IIRC didn't you make a video about moving over to your other channel on the new years? Or perhaps I'm mistaken haha. PS: Love you videos, keep up the good work :)

When you get to 10,000 feet, do you need permission to go to your cruising altitude? 32,000 feet
ATC will let you know when you can go to your next altitude assignment
I thought you’d be talking to someone, not typing text back and forth.
Third, can I have a sticker?
I'm not sure what you mean by "sticker" - could you explain?
i'm suprised you dont know that, its a image with one side being sticky and you can stick it onto stuff
Thanks for the explanation of a 'sticker' - I'm well aware of it's meaning. I was asking you to explain the word in the context you have chosen.
i'm the third comment, can i have a sticker?
Thank you for the explanation. However, I regret to inform you that Jack's FSX Videos does not supply self-adhesive labels for typing.
