Preparing for a Nearby Wildland Fire - Fire Pump and Sprinkler System Activated

- This afternoon, a wildland fire started just a couple of miles from our homestead, and the conditions are perfect for it to spread quickly in our direction. With winds blowing towards us and smoke filling the air, I’m taking steps to prepare for the potential threat. In this video, I share my preparations, including setting up the fire pump, charging the hoses, and using the pool as a water reservoir. While the fire may not reach us, it’s reassuring to have these safety measures in place. Stay tuned as I explain what I’m doing and how you can prepare your property for wildfire threats.

Amazing how quickly conditions change & put people into action. Thanks for sharing all you do.
Good luck to you and your family. Stay safe.
Excellent preps!!! I hope you have sprinklers on the roofs. Make sure all of the attic and roof vents are covered with metal screen, and that all combustible material is cleared away from the buildings. Keep the car windows up and the car pointed out. If you have time and know the fire is for sure coming at you, drop the standing fuels and burn out on the approaching side as far as you can. Good luck, be safe, and have a last ditch exit strategy!
I wish you the best and keep safe. I know you know what you are doing, but please be careful. This is a true testament to prepping. It's not all about WROL, SHTF, or TEOTWAWKI, it's about a plethora of possibilities. It's also a testament to personal responsibility and not relying on government to provide protection. It's good public service is there working on the fire and helping those in need, but your foresight could possibly free them up to help others. I'm impressed.
Praying for you, the family and the homestead.
Wow that's crazy. I'm from South Ontario so we don't see too many wildland fires here but some occasionally. Great job on prep brother. God bless
Praying for you guys, brother. I pray that God will honor your faithfulness to him and your family as well as your wisdom in being prepared.
good luck! keep us updated and i am glad you are prepared!
Holy cow Cody. Keep that family of yours (including yourself) safe.
When I was younger I worked on a wildfire crew with the forest service. The first time I was sent out on my own to do some mopping up, I put too much soap in my water tank. I'm glad no one was around to see spraying suds in the woods.
You have our thoughts and prayers for your family and community.
What timing with the preps that you have done!
Good luck and be safe, my thoughts and prayers are with your family/people in your area.
Prayers for your family and properties safety this night!
Be safe and you and your family in our thoughts and prayers!
You may want to get a standard nozzle that can do a straight stream as it will give you more flow and more distance.
Wishing you all the best, glad you got your pump and all rigging set up and hoping you won't have to use it, sending positive thoughts your way...stay safe!
Good luck, your prepperation may come in handy faster then you thought. Your hard work will give a you a much better chance if the fire comes to your property.
Y'all are in my prayers.
.I enjoyed your wildland/homestead firefighting series.. hopefully you will never need to employ your system. stay safe! I will pray for you and your family.
Great timing on your wild land fire project! Hopefully you never have to put it to the test.
Praying for you and yours. Best of luck.
I wont be leaving. I'm going to stay and fight the fire myself if need be
Good luck and stay safe. Hope everything works out for you and your family.
My thoughts are with you and your family. Thank God your actually prepared, my hat's off to you sir. Best of luck.
Wow, you got that stuff together just in time. Good luck with this.
I will pray for you and your family. Stay strong and believe that God is watching over you as he does us all
Hi Cody, I used to do some fire fighting in the past and that red nozzle looks to be an electrical safety nozzle, meaning that it can't do a completely straight stream
Good luck, and my prayers to your family in this perilous situation, sir.
Will be praying for you and your family be safe.
Wildfires northwest of White Salmon burned 1,560 acres Wednesday, forcing evacuations of local residents and closing state Highway 141.
good thing you are well prepared, lets hope that nothing happens. good luck !
Good Luck Cody and Family! Praying for you! Kick some ass!

Praying for your family and land hopefully it never reaches you but if it does good luck.

Today is your test, tomorrow it could be any one of us. Just bears out that you need to be prepared for lots of eventualities. We're praying that they can snuff the fires and that your family and you property will be safe. God speed, Cody.
Praying for you guys and everyone near you
I enjoy your videos and examples of how to be prepared for different situations. I see in this video of your gf adding up your Honda pump I'm thinking you might like to up grade your has nozzle to a easy pour and make you gas can pour the way they used to in the old days. You can find them at your tractor supply stores
I wish I had more fire hose, apart from that I think we are very well prepared. Tomorrow will be the real fight. The fire is laying down tonight.
stay safe Cody...prayers for you and the family
@wranglerstar A tip for you for your fuel can. if you have an old garden hose or one you dont mind cutting a piece off of and repairing you can cut a piece about 12 inces and stick it in the nozzle of your fuel can for a little easier fueling. It also makes it easier to fuel a vehicle as the new nozzle extenstion will fit in your fuel neck and less fuel will be spilled. If it leaks a little just add a wrap of duct tape aaround the nozzel and hose pipe where they meet. works like a charm for me.
Glad to see you are prepared. I have wondered many times while watching your videos, what is the mountain in the background? That is such a beautiful view you have. Many of use have the side or back of a neighbors house for a view.
Thoughts and prayers send your way!
Overall do you feel confident that you will be able to see this through and come out on the other side with everything intact? How do you feel about the situation at the moment?
Praying for a good outcome, hope all is well through the night
Godspeed. You keep yourself and your loved ones safe, OK?

The threat is getting real now. Mrs Wranglerstar and I have been clearing everything flammable from around the building. Fire hoses are and pumps are ready to go....
Good luck brother...praying for you.
I'm praying for a good outcome for you and your family...
I will pray for you and your family
Good Luck!
good luck and best wishes man
I just watched your other video about protecting you home from wildfire. It's obvious you know the drill!!! 10 & 18 rules! Be safe.
it does a straight stream just fine
Cody - you may want to run those heavy hoses over the pool ladder instead of laying them right on the blue air tube. Otherwise they'll press down to the water level and drain your pool in minutes.
God be with you

You Sir are a better Man because of your preparedness.
Always have to be prepared..
Stay Safe out there Cody....
And you always want your male end of the hose in the center of a hose roll. 1 to protect the threads and 2 when you throw out your hose roll you will have the female end in your hand to connect to the pump.
Prayin for y'all. Good luck buddy.
Praying!!
Hope everything goes OK!
We'll pray for a good outcome..
If anyone has a bulldozer or tractor with plow, a common defense is to plow up a dirt barrier to the fire. Do you have a full face respirator? That smoke can get thick
Good luck--be safe.
Hope you will make this through safely...
Prayer sent.
you are going to need more water lots more. last month here in oklahoma they airal dumped 5000 gal on daves house and it still burnt to the ground. you can rebuild the farm but they cant rebuild you. know when to cut and run. you wife and kids would rather have you the farm. stay safe brother.
Cody, did you get a chance to preburn anywhere around your house?
When you roll that hose up start rolling at the male thread end.. That way when you sling it out there you have the female threads at the pump outlet port. Just a trick I've learn over the years
Over time you will realise you might have issues getting suction from your draft line if you do things that same way. I always take the draft line and move it back and forth in the water until the draft line is full of water. This is a lot easier on your pump too. If you ever forget your bucket or don't have it you can fill the snail shell up this way too. If you are drafting from a creek or pond just drag the draft line under water until its full then connect it to the pump.
your method of back and forth only works if you use a foot valve/ strainer
good luck and god bless
Good luck and God Bless,,
Trash and semi trash pumps suck for fire fighting. No pressure, they are good for supply and refill in a down hill situation. Example is We have 5 pools. Here, my pool is at bottom of the hill, other 4 are up top, we can use semi trash pumps to shuttle the water from upper pools to lower pool if needed
praying
i am doing some photography of surfers this weekend for a commission job.... got any advice?, i know you used to be a photographer....
How you have come a long way.
its full to the tip top no garden watering tonight
Wildfires near White Salmon grow; Evacuations ordered
Here we go!
Hope it turns out well!
Stay safe and be careful.
Good luck sir, and god bless
May God help you and your family my brother!
I certainly pray for you!
Stay safe and please sacrifice your farm rather than your life! Your family needs and loves you way more than your farm! Please consider the opportunity to run once it overwhelms you!
May God help you!
You have watch out for all sorts over there, we hardly ever get hot weather enough to make forest fires, or snow to cause problems, or wild animals. In fact, the worst we get is a lot of rain.
Don't forget to wet down the roofs and trees. Stray embers could land.
Maybe a dumb suggestion but if you would have flying embers might be a good idea to cover that soft side pool with something that can be wetted down that poly will melt like butter with a hot knife to it....just a thought...keep safe!
