You already know that if it gets bad and comes roaring in you will not be able to see or hear a damn thing. You do not want anyone getting hung up on that fence trying to get to safety. Stay safe.
How about using that time to soak down that cedar roof? Cedar might combust when dry, but it also absorbs water, so why not spray it down? how far is an ample water source? Are they concerned about pumping their little pond dry? He said that pond raised the humidity of the whole area, so why not pump enough water upwind of the house to humidify the whole house area? Short on water? trucks too light? both?

House back in the 40's had a parameter mister for wild land fires. Water would travel through old orangeburg and copper pipe and shoot water mist up at 90ft. We replaced most of that old pipe with 1" PVC and stainless nozzles. They have a large pond that they draw water from and two drilled wells. It's mostly around their house but with the right wind and back draft the mist should cover up to 40 acres. The owner left the old piston pump in the pump house but installed a secondary pto hook up if needed. That old pump still works, probably made in the 20's.
Decreasing the fuel load and getting rid of every old dead snag and old punky limbs still in live trees will go a long way. If you have the means to use a dozer be sure to build good firelines that you can maintain for years because they will serve you well if a fire comes. You can get a rope that has a bit of chainsaw blade on it and a weight that you can throw over the dead limbs so you don't risk falling out of a tree trying to get them.
Bloginton Blakley No, You don’t need to do the whole state. You need to do selective areas that prevent these fires from spreading so far and destroying communities. To repeat what I've heard from some of the comments in the other recent videos, while it would certainly be a handy personal tool, apparently drones aren't allowed in wildfire zones due to the potential hazard to other aircraft that might be flying in the area.
@ Also true. Mine will handle up to about 30mph, but as the fires get close, unpredictable winds tend to come with them... from a distance maybe not so much, but with such low visibility in all the smoke, the utility of them would certainly be minimal at best. Better to trade the weight and space for tools that prove more useful.
Its a wonderful thing that God has blessed you enough with the tools to bless others like this . I am praying the Lord keeps you safe brother and the wife to have a peaceful mind .
@@wranglerstar God bless and guard you Cody! Really admire you, you're a great role-model, and your channel is fantastic. You're a good teacher, on life and everything
I’ve watched you prepare all your firefighting tools and thought it would be exciting to fight these fires. Watching these updates I’ve realised exciting is the wrong word, terrifying is more appropriate and you haven’t even begun. I have an even greater respect for you and all those putting themselves on the front lines to protect other peoples property. I live in Belfast Northern Ireland and these fires are being reported here. Please be careful and as the previous comments have said properly can be replaced people can’t. God bless you all and stay safe.
the future is grim prescribed fire burns up a lot of the old fuel/litter on the ground. If forested areas are not burned the fuel levels increase and can become very dangerous areas for wildfires
Dear Cody, after watching this video after having watched your many previous wildland firefighter uploads; I got very emotional watching this especially the ending! I wish for the best amongst you, your crew and your family! we can all agree here on one sure thing, we all love you and the family you cherish! CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU GET BACK
This is intense to watch. Thanks for showing this side of the fires. Out here in Northern Colorado we have some really bad fires. I live about 40 miles the way the crow flies from the Cameron Peak fire and we got large bits of ash and whole burnt pine needles fallng. The smoke is so thick you couldn't see the sun all day Saturday. Stay safe out there.
You don't have to be in danger on the frontline to be an integral part of supporting the effort, Mrs W 👍, everyone else dealing with this, I wish you the best.
I went through the 2019 - 2020 fires in Australia -I evacuated after doing a bit of preparation before the fire hit. My friend evacuated her/my dogs at about 10am I got all my equipment - shredder tiller car with a stuffed radiator and no cooling and a flat tyre- gas bottles lined up with their vent valves facing to where I expected the fire to come from. It all worked- When I was able to.get back in after 6 days my living space was intact - sheds and wrecked cars were all gone - my little fridge in the caravan (trailer for US translation) had blown out in the fire and the rotting food was revolting - but the big fridge in one of the steel garden sheds was still going and the food was ok .I'm an athirst but miracles do happen and I don't pray to any God but you are in my thoughts and I hope you and your friends and neighbours survive this fire season!

I will pray. But i need you to know i really appreciate you taking the time to make these updates. May God bless you're whole family. 🙏
Damn you mean you're digging in. That fires anywhere around you get the hell out of there.
Just got this on my reccomended. God speed from Denton Texas. Hope our rain gets out there to y'all. Its times like these I wish I could have proceeded with my dream job of being a Firefighter. Stay safe out there and keep the morale up.
Brave man , it takes courage to stand against such terrifying force of nature.
What kind of Radios were you guys communicating with?
I almost married a bad one in my early 20’s. Luckily we had no kids. I saw the light and I was gone. Now I’m in my mid 30’s with 3 kids and a wonderful woman. Glad I listened to my father and had a good mom to show me the qualities a good woman possesses.
13 hours later no update are you okay you have to let us know
Cody, you are both a hero and a blessed man!
Cody, I’m praying for u.
Being east coast. This blows my mind. I live in Maine and the biggest fire danger is a overzealous bonfire. Good luck guys.
There is no greater blessing than a virtuous wife. Stay safe guys.
very true, I ended up with one that liked too much vodka , not a blessing let me tell you.
Last two days RH at my house 1%...been a wildland fire fighter since 1979...resource order to the Lionhead tomorrow...hope I have a house to come back too here in Grant's Pass...be safe thank you for the video...Shoe
Praying for your safety, Cody, but that truck just has a bad "Dante's Peak" vibe...
Stay safe. We had a close call a few years ago. Like many others on here, its why I spent my time clearing, thinning and creating fire breaks. God bless.
Can you send a drone up there to get above the smoke so you can see what's going on?
De liefde van de man gaat door de maag 😉 stay safe and God bless you. Groeten uit Nederland
be careful. I will keep you in my prayers
Cody, a Good Wife is a blessing to the husband: He will prosper. I am thankful as well because a have a Good Wife! Thanks Lord for all your blessings and bless all our Families.
Best of luck i truly hope for the best for everyone dealing with this.
Stay safe my friend. We were blessed here in Colorado with lower temps and rain/snow the last 2 days to help with our wildfires.
Cody have you tried putting the drone up to track the fires location
Super illegal, will ground all the other aircraft if they see it
Id guess there is too much smoke to see far enough.
Better to trade the weight and space for tools that prove more useful.
flinnius and there could be a TFR around the fire area.
Its a wonderful thing that God has blessed you enough with the tools to bless others like this . I am praying the Lord keeps you safe brother and the wife to have a peaceful mind .
Stay safe brother! We're all praying for you
You are the man! Thanks for being a great role model.
Prayers for you and everyone's property. I wish I could stick around and watch but I have school tomorrow and it's like 11pm here in ny
if it 11 pm for you in NY you need to check that clock
@@artyomswolf4040 why?
@@jesseerickson662 because it should be 10 PM as of his comment time. I'm also on Eastern Time
Omg I just realised I said 11. I meant to say 10

This makes me nervous for all. Prayers, be safe, God Bless and protect you all.
I have been watching you for years. Good Luck and stay as safe as you can.
prescribed burns would of prevented a lot of these mess
Since the suppression of fire there is a lot more wildfires today.

Show rays starting the fires nd earthquakes
Most were arson so no
the future is grim prescribed fire burns up a lot of the old fuel/litter on the ground. If forested areas are not burned the fuel levels increase and can become very dangerous areas for wildfires
Why don't you tell the climate activists that
Stay safe, and I don’t often say this, but you will be in my prayers, and may God be with you!
This is how California looks like right now, Everything orange, smokey and ashy.
I live in the Bay Area the sun never rose this morning it’s been like night all day.
It was sunset here all day, right up until it got dark... Weird. (Orange County).

I wish for the best amongst you, your crew and your family! we can all agree here on one sure thing, we all love you and the family you cherish! CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU GET BACK
Ummm last vid...14 hours ago...we're going to need an update soon please. STAY SAFE!
May God Bless you and your family and friends, Keep you safe and out of harms way. God Bless Cody!!
Any word on what happened overnight? Hope you are safe.
"He who finds a wife finds what is good
and receives favor from the Lord." God be with all of you.
You don't have to be in danger on the frontline to be an integral part of supporting the effort, Mrs W 👍, everyone else dealing with this, I wish you the best.
Praying for safety and no damage
