I love this 00012e. It’s harder to find reviews of it at various stores. I live sound but I never had a chance to play next to a 00013e. I think the Koa is absolutely gorgeous. Just not sure if blindfolded, I might like 0013e more. I also live the affordable 000X1, at half the price, so it’s very subjective. I love it having a tuner and a gorgeous look. I’m not sure if it is a laminate guitar or if is best of both worlds by combining veneer of Koa with a mahogany like core. (Or if that is marketing speak, hence my desire to try a 0013e test. I just purchased 0012e, though, after trying a hundred guitars. I loved Taylor GS Mini RW at 699, and almost went that way for smaller size and incredible sound. The smaller size/weight is mitigates by plugging in and it also makes one want to pick it up more to practice. I love Martin 00012e though abs it is certainly best looking Martin I have seen. I have had opportunities to our base great used Martins in standard series but I never pulled trigger and soon most them to other buyers. I recommend thus guitar to anyone, however, as it has a very balanced abs beautiful sound unplugged with very powerful bass when, plugged in. It has gorgeous Koa sides and back abs an interesting black headstock, it feels like the perfect t size and weight. It doesn’t have the “affordable” look yet loud punched 000X1 with its minimalistic appointments and curious materials used in neck, a,though one could carry X series through a war zone without hurting it. In a similar way, any very expensive Martin -above 2000 bucks - seems too precious to be used all the time. I think road series is perfect balance for those who want to orange rice at home or gig, just as Taylor GS Minis are great couch guitars or composition tools. I got 00012e as a Goldilocks guitar, even though it is expensive relative to budget guitars. It looks and sounds wonderful and has that Martin headstock. I love it and hope to learn to use it well!
Spoon and Maury, great reviews as usual! I can’t get my hands on one, unless I buy it that is. So I’d like to ask you a few questions. First I play all finger style with no fingernails just my fingertips. Which one of the road series would project better and be louder in your opinion, the 000-10e, 000-12e, or the 000-13e? I’m looking for the most volume whether it be with a light touch or digging in as well. And also which one sounds better to you of those three in your opinion? I understand that sound is subjective, but I value your opinion too. And I would like to ask you about the case. It’s soft shell, but is it as protective as the case that comes with the Taylor gs mini? My concern would be protecting it from any damage as well as from dry weather in the winter or humidity in the summer. Thanks Spoon and Maury. Keep up the great videos.
I got one this week...its replacing my D35. Needed smaller scale and lower string tension. Mine has a wonderful voice, but as usual the onboard sound is complete shit, but with my Fishman rare earth blend it sounds BETTER than my D35 plugged in. The bottom end is alot more balanced on the 000 in my ears. Stunning overtones and massive sustain.
Since it has the koa veneer, how does it affect the sound as the guitar ages? Will it get better over time like they’re higher end models, or is it more like a laminated wood?
@@MaurysMusic If you check Martin's site, he appears to have it right. It's the 000-12E Koa. Correct? So it's the video title that's wrong, not his description. Otherwise, it's a good job on the video.

I hope they will make a 00 version, mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard.. That would be a 00-18 killer
