  • With the 000-12E Koa in Martin’s lineup, now more players can turn their dreams of owning a koa guitar into reality. The back and side of this gorgeous model are constructed with koa fine veneer, which is an environmentally conscious, alternative-wood option, made by bonding koa hardwood to an African mahogany core. The result is the show-stopping look of a koa guitar at a great price. But there is so much more to this guitar. Aside from the balance and comfort of the 000, you will get mother-of-pearl-patterned rosette and fingerboard inlay, a full-gloss body, a soft-shell gig bag, Fishman® MX-T electronics, and Martin’s Authentic Acoustic Lifespan® 2.0 strings. With all that, the 000-12E Koa is worthy of any stage.

    My God Martin is such an amazing company. That guitar rings like a bell and sounds so sweet. Who cares if it's Koa veneer.

      Actually "layered" wood. Veneer indicates a thin wood (possibly wood) layer laminated to some form of composite substrate, one of the reasons this little guitar sounds great...all wood.

    You've got to love 000 guitars, they're a perfect balance between comfort, playability and tone. I can't say I've played any koa guitars, but loud to give this one a try.

    Thank you. The review accurately assesses the instrument, and the demonstration bears this out. For someone looking at the Road series models, this supports why it is worth considering.

    I use a road series 000 at church. It sounds great plugged in (with my set up) and is light and easier on the body when standing for a while, but also sounds good unplugged between sundays, unlike the smaller models, or the hybrids.

    Nice playing! The black fretboard and black headstock are different. They make it look very narrow because of losing them in the background. 000 is a nice size.

    I have this guitar and I really like it. Though I have had to adjust the neck multiple times over the passed two years .

    It sounds pretty thin to me....like all the sound is coming from the strings? Maybe it's just the way it sounds on this video?

    • @wpkg
      @wpkg ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no it is pretty thin. I have one and its sounds ok, then i got an OM1-GT and it sounded MUCH fuller.

      I went and played one at GC. Next to it, I tried their "special" 000 Martin with solid sapele back & sides for $300-400 less (it was on sale) and was surprised at the deeper, woodier tones. But it had a 11/16" nut that I can't do. Left the store perplexed. I've already traded in a "D" Road Series that never lived up to the hype of some. I think one needs to play several to find one that satisfies in this lower price range of solid woods.

      @@jimmerritt1171just go get a Yamaha FS5 and call it done. Vastly superior in every way to these Martin and Taylor in this range.

    Road series are good if they are solid wood. Love my d10. But not as much as my d18.😊

    why bother just get a regular mahogany back. an ultra thin koa veneer does nothing to the sound

      My Martin D-X2E has a spruce top and HPL back and sides. It's my "go to" guitar especially when I need to plug in for a public performance.
