A class act indeed. Compare him to the Rupauls Drag Race gals and you will notice that none of those gals sing LIVE with their own voice as did ~Danny La Rue. Such a polished performance over many years on stage and the facial expressions, winking etc remind me of a good burlesque dancer. In the 70's I remember him form the 'Good old Days' on the telly. The modern drag queens of today can learn so much from this amazing professional. Any other recordings of him performing are much appreciated. We love you Danny La Rue xx
I was Danny's quick change dresser on Aladdin at the Palladium in London. We had a shed on the side of the stage and it took 3 of us to change him for his next costume including wig, frock, shoes and Danny did his lipstick and nails and even eyeshadow differently for each cossy. We had on average 1.5 minutes per change. Exhausting!
Sounds like a lot of work but hope you enjoyed it. I'm jealous that you got to meet him, he seemed like an extremely generous and caring gentleman and a wonderfully wicked woman. 😁❤
@@boojay111 I could see it all,Thank you for sharing!! What a fantastic memory.I would have had Katie darling monogrammed on everything I owned. What a life❤️🥰
what a fabulous performer. I was luck enough to meet Danny years ago at the Albury Hotel in Sydney and he was such a sweet guy. Hopefully one day he'll come to Sydney. All the best Danny xx
what a fabulous performer, i met danny years ago at the fantastic Albury Hotel in Sydney and he was such a sweet guy. hopefully he will grace our shores again soon. all the very best xx
There was a mystique about this guy and his act. My Dad would show his disapproval of anything remotely camp or gay on mainstream television in the 1970s/80s. But for some reason, La Rue was accepted. In the same vein as Lilly Savage, possibly. Although La Rue's act was classier and O'Grady's intentionally coarse.
Remember....... at this time Michael Barrymore was a massive star himself. He was famous for taking the mickey out of people. The other stars who appeared on his show knew this.
Hi I found a clip with your dad. It's from the programme 'What A Performance'. It's cheeky but only lasts a few of seconds. It came from one of Dan's T.V. shows. I will put it on here when i have time. I'm ill which is why i have taken so long to respond. I met your dad loads of times over the years.
I like Michael Barrymore but when Danny was Singing a song he was interupting him. That's so wrong! Why couldn't he have kept it shut when Danny was singing? Because he was spoiling it!
Wasn’t he great but such a sad ending to his life. He lost everything due to two Canadian freudstirs. Never sign anything until your lawyer has read it first.
I was lucky enough to meet Danny twice - each time he was so polite and charming - a true professional; there will never be another like him.
saw him in 1978 summer season in Scarborough the best summer show ive ever seen 2hrs of comedy music glitz and glamour breathtaking a true showman
Priceless..I'm intractable pain...this lovely laugh..wish my old mum was here...xxx

Girl shut up. You know that's not true. So many of the ru girls especially the UK ones sing
Wrong, some of the girls on Rupaul do sing! Example: jinxk Monsoon. She now on Broadway in Chicago!
@@stephenholmes5362 you're right, a few do sing well 🙂

I agree with you. His stage presence was something quite unique and difficult to quantify. I saw him many times and his allure remained. Sadly missed.
He had class. Never crass. Paul I Grady was great and so was Barry Humphreys as Edna. Barry is brilliant.
I love him! 💋
Try Tiffany Wells and Julie Paid
a true star; we will miss you Dan

Can't stand the Barrymore! Danny was great. Bless him.
Hello
My father is David Ellen. One of Danny's Long time leading man's. I wondering if you have or know of any videos with them performing together?
It’s a man in a fucking dress! - Agnes Brown.🍀
RIP
anyone knows the year/decade of this video?
I was lucky enough to meet Danny too - a humble, modest, polite gentleman. Unlike that talentless redcoat Barrymore.
Brill performer and best along with Stanley Baxter....
Does any one have scetch with LaRue & Dusty ...?
Anybody got any idea the material used for this frock as Danny would say
I like Michael Barrymore but when Danny was Singing a song he was interupting him. That's so wrong! Why couldn't he have kept it shut when Danny was singing?
Because he was spoiling it!
Danny was a Great performer so wanna follow in his footsteps....if anyone has advice please help. :)
Danny le rue is from cork
A real class act. Ruined by Barrymore's unamusing comedy.
Wasn’t he great but such a sad ending to his life. He lost everything due to two Canadian freudstirs. Never sign anything until your lawyer has read it first.
He passed away today.
Why can't our girl friends or wives be as glamurous as Danny.
Unlike other impersonating acts Danny didn't have to use the F-word to get a few laughs.
Give us a cook, a nanny, a maid and a driver and we'll be glamorous 24/7.
Should have been a Sir
