Danny was a gorgeous man inside and out. I was there that night as a guest of Jimmy's. After the show, I was invited by Bernie Winters to go to their tiny 'after show' drinks party in one of the dressing rooms. There was just Danny, Jimmy, Bernie, Stan Boardman and Englebert. It remains THE best night of my life... Danny La Rue, you were the most beautiful person to meet, talk to, and make me cry (but in a good way). I thank you and will be eternally grateful I had the privilege. God rest that beautiful soul of yours... x
Unfortunately I had never herd of Danny la rue until he died and my gran told me all about him I looked up his videos on TH-cam what a fabulous, entertaining, funny, beautiful man he was I love watching his videos
Worked with Danny in Australia many years ago - Its sad t have him not hear anymore - BUT THANK YOU - for keeping his memory still alive by posting this footage xx
I was thrilled to see this clip. I remember it well as I had it on VHS for many years but it had got lost. Danny at his best in a live TV variety show. Unfortunately, his Hello Dolly show did not run for that long at the Prince of Wales, despite this excellent publicity at the time. Thank you so much for uploading.
Danny La Rue. Amazing performer and an icon. But not an actor, I was young when I saw him as Dolly, after my school did the show. Sorry he just didn't get the role or the musical and tried to make it the danny la rue show. Was very disappointing especially meeting him.
Sadly this is the most egotistical bland production of this number I've ever seen. It's just a highly glorified Friday night drag show. The gown is fabulous though

What a performer! So talented and such fun. God bless him.
The only man to play Dolly. RIP Danny La Rue
He was a fabulous entertainer, shame there aren't more around like him on tv
I got to see Danny La Rue's 'Hello, Dolly!" in London. It was gloriously entertaining!
Self isolation brought me here and I am utterly enchanted...
What a fantastic entertainer. Sadly very few of these amazing artists left now. What we have these days is 'here today, gone tomorrow'. RIP Danny.
I’m great full to see any one putting them selfs out there

The only man to play Hello Dolly.
Irreplaceable rip Danny
I wonder if there's any more of La Rue's Hello Dolly performance? I'd love to see it!
I have the whole of La Cage Aux Folles with Danny La Rue, but not Hello Dolly on DVD. Recorded live at the Palace.
How marvellous would it be to see that?!!!
Id love to see that
I don't think I can post the whole of La Cage Aux Folles with Danny, so private message me with your address if you want a copy.
I cant find an option to private message you
a voice that could crack mirrors...
Danny’s version of Hello Dolly bombed sadly. Cost him a fortune.
I bet Danny had a little bit tucked away.
Huysuz?
Cheap entertainment really like Xmas pantomime

He got bad reviews, but why do u say was disapointing meeting him?
It was a flop the show and danny la rue had financial issues also.
How tragic a man playing a woman.
OH HOW TRAGIC TOXIC MASCULINITY VICTIM!!! Get better soon

Meeooowww !!!!
Kenneth Desmond Mosley fuck you
Well Mr. La Rue certainly has a more pleasant singing voice than Carol Channing who sometimes looks more like a drag singer than Danny.
He is miming here ? It doesn’t look in sync
@@poorbuthonest No he wasn't. I was there
