Lately, have you been considering the option of homeschooling your child? In this video, we’ll weigh out the pros and cons of homeschooling and see if you think it’s a good option for you.
If you’re looking for a more personalized education for your child or possibly are you unsatisfied with traditional public school, learning at home can bring a lot of freedom and flexibility. However, keep in mind there is a lot to consider to make homeschooling successful for you and your child. On the pro side, I cover areas such as customization, flexibility, and socialization. On the con side, we looking a combating social stigmas, the heavy workload, and the socioeconomic challenges.

As someone who was homeschooled from 5th grade to graduation, I agree with most of what you said. I do not agree with the financial part though. My 2 younger sisters and I were homeschooled, both of my parents were able to work, AND our curriculum (FLVS and Switched On Schoolhouse) was free. Homeschooling is NOT the financial burden you made it out to be.

As a person that receantly started homeschooling I think its definetly had its growth for me, I live overseas and the school I was going to which used to be a private school payed for by the goverment was not helping me and I was failing each of my classes. Over the summer I started to learn more about it and used this 1 year to catchup on my grades after a diagnosis at the begining of the year for adhd I went on medicine but still struggled to find extra time and be able to interact with others since the video confrencing platform we use at this school was not that great and I never got to meet people that well, though I have still exceeded far beyond my expectations and my parents at this school getting above 85% on each test and having a estimated 90%+ score on my workspace.
I do think that it can be caused due to time differences as my classes are in America but I'm 7 hours ahead and means on thursdays my classes go from 3-8pm with 15 minute breaks inbetween and I think that this school was just a big stepup from the last school I went to because deadlines are deadlines and the expectation is so much harder to reach. I do believe that through the rest of the year I will be able to find more time as I have been finding to do more activitys for myself, but I think that its been really helping me.

Same but my parents are a little bit hard to convince, since there always saying “I need you to be tougher” and “Toughen up”
They don’t understand that public school is ruining my mental health, just like a lot of others. But, my parents do care about me, so it’s a 50:50 chance.

@@No-dt9el some personal advice, if you realy dont wanna go to public school anymore and want to be homeschooled then prove to them that you are capable of being homeschooled. Get good grades, be on positive behavior, study and listen carefully. You have to prove you can be homeschooled.

My parents and I are thinking about homeschooling, I get bullied at school, I have no friends. And it sucks. Being made fun by people when you are sitting alone at lunch time watching all those people hanging out with all there friends. I’ve tried to make friends and it worked…. But… they where not good friends who didn’t treated me right. Now I also have them bullying me as well as all the popular boys and girls. The school doesn’t care and isn’t doing anything about it. That’s not the only reason why, my uncle, dad and my older cousin who is finished with school all said they learned nothing at school, and I agree what’s the point of having bad anxiety all day and stressed out while people are bullying me when I don’t even learn anything…. You may not understand but there is more to it that is personal… I will edit and come back to this comment in march next year 2022 if I have started or going to be starting homeschooling
I’m sorry about the bullying. I also sit alone and it really kills you with loneliness when you just want to talk to someone in those 6-7 hours. stressful work doesn’t help with that either and it doesn’t feel like what I learn is important either besides Math and English.

I have the same problem it's literally 1st semester break and I tried to make friends and yea it turns out I can make friends but they all some ppl that outcast me especially they use me for their own reasons I am thinking homeschooling a lot bcuz I spend my day time better when I am in home education and stuff, also we're 36 ppl in class so basically teacher can't keep up w 36 students in the same time I hope its possible in my country so I can spend my times better

Thanks for this video my son has autism he’s been getting bullied his whole life but this year has been the final straw because this time around his teacher was bullying him as well, I had to go up to the school and let’s just say it got ugly and now they gave me a no trespassing…a day later I had a whole breakdown because yes I went up to the school to put that teacher in check but I still haven’t solved the issue which is making sure my son is protected , I don’t feel bad for isolating him he’ll still go to the boys and girl club and other programs that helps him to interact with others .. but besides that I think I’ll do great homeschooling him because I’m the one that taught him majority of all the things he know I knows how he thinks and ways to help him catch on ..when he’s in school they don’t take their time they just keep moving on making it hard for him to grasp and learn new things I’m praying homeschooling is the best route

@@Faith459 It’s annoying that we have to pay for the public schools when we aren’t using them (and we don’t get any services or help from the public schools unless our child is enrolled). It’s not fair to homeschoolers.

Thank you for this video. my daughter is due to start kindergarten this year and I want to make the best decision for her but frankly the thought of sending her to school makes me want to throw up. I'm so scared of school shootings but I don't want to make my decision based on fear.

I can never find it easy to communicate with someone. I don't do well on public school either and apparently, I'm the reason why everyone feels bothered. I just want to be homeschooled.. I think it's right for me.
im homeachooled/on online school, its pretty cool being able to do school in bed n stuff, and not dealing with annoying classmates, but im extremely lonely bc of it. extremely. its one of my biggest problems in my life right now actually

Online schooling is quite different from homeschooling. Sitting alone in a room with your computer - well - of course that's isolating. Ask your parents to sign you up for a co-op, Church youthgroup; 4H; scouts; sports; or other activities. And, yes, as the other person here said - one can be just as lonely in traditional school. My homeschooled daughter has MANY more friends than her friend who goes to NYC public schools, and says she doesn't have a single friend there.
Homeschooling may be necessary at times but I think socialization is so important, some of these kids end up social misfits, and the people "schooling" them are high school drop outs who are just lazy they don't want to do what it takes to get the child a decent education. On the other hand, I think school is a LOT different now compared to when I was a kid. I can see why many parents are afraid to send their kids to school with all of the school shootings going on. But there must be some kind of social outlet for these kids, something other than social media, I'm talking about real interaction with other kids their age.

For me homeschooling is bad because your social life decreases a lot, you don’t get the life lesson you would in regular school
I am literally BEGGING my parents to send me back to my old public school. I feel bored and isolated with limited life choices. I used to get A's in every subject in every quarter in 5th grade when I when to in-person school, but now my concentration is decreasing and I am getting C's now. I now have anger issues.

I go to a public school and well, it’s amazing. I’ve made so many friends. At first I was extremely shy but by being around other kids made me so social. My parents want to put me in homeschool m. Please help me.
Make your parents ability to do the teaching difficult.
As in, destroy notes (in a way that isn't easily found), say you don't understand stuff and if she gets a public school person to teach for just that moment then act like she was the best teacher.
Read the laws they must follow and make it hard for them to follow it by maybe get rid off of the things they have just to pass a state thing.
Can't be homeschooled if you have a crappy teacher and not a lot of resources.
Is it only possible in U.S may I ask bcuz I watched several videos and I am hoping to be a homeschooler in highschool 9th grade please tell me its possible in other countries too
I that I should be homeschooled. The only negative that I can see is that one of my parents will have to quit their job. My sister, who is turning 25 this year, comes home next year from South Korea, so she can’t teach me. My mom is a teacher. My dad works in like a chip factory, I think?

I used to be home schooled and I haven’t been for 2years and I hate my school and the students and teachers and the only class I learned stuff from in thoes years was in history class and I really want to be homeschooled

Do any of you parents home-schooling wonder what effect it might have on a child's social skills without the classroom environment??
Its a popular theory. But in reality, the majority of homeschooled kids don’t have any problems with society overall or just hanging out with other kids. They don’t miss out on social life just because they’re not in a classroom everyday. Its needless to say that they do miss out on the peer pressure, drugs, and bullying of most schools. In fact, homeschooled kids tend have more social skills and more maturity than regular public school children. Of course this doesn’t go for all, but as I said, the majority. Some kids are introverted and others are too protected, it varies.
I think this is really only a concern for those who have never given it a serious try. My daughter who is homeschooled has a MUCH more active social life than I did as a public school student at her age. She spends lots of time with her friends at co-op classes & outings; Church youthgroup; online classes; camps; conventions; and volunteer activities. Also, since we almost never have "homework" - which is to say work to do in the evenings - her afternoons and evenings are free for socializing.

well, it depends how strict and what’s wrong with why you would like to be homeschooled. It also depends on how nice the school principal is.
I don’t recommend doing this for a unknown cause, but I refused to go to school even with my iPad taken away ( my prised possession) and then we had a talk with my principal and decided that maybe homeschooling is the best opinion. Now I don’t recommend begging for homeschooling, but to actually give good reasons why you should and maybe show them videos on how normal homeschool kids function. ( cause a big reason for my parents was no being able to socialise. ) I hope that helps!! Good luck and I wish you the best❤❤❤

This video i think is more directed to the parent/teacher. As a kid that is being home schooled right now and went to public school Last year. I think as a child pov it sucks, and I am in a homeschooling band group, football team, ect. Even though I go to those things I won't have any long term freinds. Since I left public school a lot of my freinds are leaving me. Soooo. I don't think homeschooling is a good option from a kids pov.
You're right. It is aimed at the parents and teachers. They're the ones that ultimately make the choice on where you get your education prek-12th grade.

the government gives a lot of money, tax write off's and support for homeschoolers now to where it is not financially expensive

If you can play video games, use discord, and such that can help you make new friends you might not be able to see them in person but it’s still a great way to meet new people.
