I always hear from my mom that my kid needs to go to school. She has no idea of what is going on. My son is learning so much more here at home with me. It’s so rewarding seeing him grow everyday. I want him to be strong minded and independent not brain washed and easily controlled by society.

I think it is scary how a whole generation of mothers think keeping their child at home to "learn" instead of in a public school where you can learn so many different ideas by talking to all different types of students is a good idea. What curriculum are you following? Love your country no matter what? Buy a gun when you can? It's dangerous to stay with like-minded people.

    • @hemlock1881

@@hemlock1881 Yikes you make homeschooling sound like torture. It’s okay if it’s not for you or your family. That is why we all have a choice as parents. If my child were miserable I wouldn’t continue homeschooling him. I am actually seeing the complete opposite. He is flourishing. We get to focus on the areas he needs help in like things he didn’t completely get when he was in public school. It’s hard for a teacher to focus on one student when there are 24 others in the class. That’s what I love about homeschooling. My child is getting more one on one attention. Again, it’s not for everyone and it appears as though you have the wrong idea about it.

Homeschooled my children. I even ran an umbrella school for homeschoolers at one point. I ran an agency that helped homeschoolers find curriculum, etc. Son went into the military upon graduation right after 9/11, now a manager for a company in Atlanta. He is totally hands on, organized, disciplined and as he says I get to play with life size Tonka trucks. But he uses more Geometry, and Physics than probably any other topic other than Grammar. Has to write reports. Pull those children and homeschool them!

I made a deal with all of the teachers at my daughter's school. Told them to never ask my daughter to do their bidding. Doesn't matter if she doesn't study, doesn't matter if she doesn't do her homework, I don't care. I want her to want to learn whatever she thinks is interesting for her. I trust her because she truly is smarter than my wife (her mother) so I want her to have her own path. This doesn't mean I don't guide her but I'm trying to make her see things other children don't. While she is in public school, she does private study, kind of private school where she does her homework with help because it is very important to be able to ask for help in life and she have to learn that your days are precious so you should get rid of boring stupid chores they give you at school, as fast as you can and as easy as you can. I always was a man of "how to finish something easier and faster?". This served me well so I wish my daughter thinks before she acts, every time. You don't learn this in public school but there's lessons to be learned in public schools as well.

    • @lyndahope
      @lyndahope ปีที่แล้ว +7

@@becky7637 The board member was mad because the school (at least up here in Montana, I'm not sure about other states) looses funding. The school gets a certain amount of money per student per year. We were attending our rural school which is a 2 room school house with only 6 students. When I pulled both my children (4th grade and 1st grade at the time) the school dropped to 4 students and the school lost some of their allotted funds for the remainder of the year. I am not using an online school program but instead using a program that was recommended to me by one of my former teachers. Both my kiddos now 5th and 2nd grades are thriving and so much happier. They still see their friends but have a lot more hands on learning and we can go more in depth with subjects. If either of them are struggling we can take our time to make sure they understand the topic at hand.

She said one bad thing to her "rude" student and then the parents came and attacked her, but whenever their kids misbehave they don't care. So if you are a teacher and the kids are terrible and nothing you do is enough. Why should you bother giving your 100%? He loves science, mainly biology, and we’re feeding that interest daily. I have to sacrifice by keeping our budget fully in check, I don’t get my hair and nails done, and we don’t get to travel as much, but that’s what being a parent is. Sacrificing so that we can give our children what they really need.

How to rid your body of radiation..
      • Introduce more chlorophyll-rich foods into your diet, such as seaweed, kelp, dulse blue-green algae, spirulina, and chlorella. These plants contain rich minerals, including iodine, that bind up the receptors site in your thyroid so that any radioactive iodine that you end up being exposed to will be unable to harm your thyroid. These foods also contain potent antioxidants, like selenium, that prevent destructive free radical activity and cancerous growth, as well as chelating agents that bind to toxins and eliminate them from your body.
      • Eat antioxidant-rich foods of every color, especially cherries, blueberries, pomegranates, yams, and sweet potatoes. The variety of antioxidants found in these foods help your body to mop up free radicals and toxins.
      • Drink six to eight 8-ounce glasses of filtered water every day to flush and hydrate your system.
      • Consider taking vitamin C, E, and D to assist antioxidant actions within your body. Also, alpha lipoic acid is a nutrient that protects cells from radiation damage.
      • Herbs like dandelion, peppermint, and chrysanthemum help the body detoxify.
      • Undergoing a medically supervised detox program like the Tao of Wellness Detox Retreat can support your body's cleansing function

When non-Catholics talk about Catholicism and its school system it's, how would I say it, amusing. This thread has turned into anti-Catholic thread which isn't all too surprising.
If tuition wasn't an issue I'd personally send my kids to Catholic school if it had a solid academic curriculum, the ECs were robust and, above all, if the school was actually Catholic and not Catholic in name only.

Had a great early morning babysitter who got him to school, but I was home with hi after school. If course I was dirt poor, everyone said work more hours..I wanted to be home with him, and only one co worker said he respected my decisions. Now in 2021, he's 40. I can never get that time back when he was a small child, but I was eventually able to make a lit of money once he left home.

Back when I was in grammar school, the "whole language" method was taught and I couldn't read anything to save my life. I couldn't sound out words, let alone comprehend anything. My Mom recognized this and pulled both me and my sister out of the public school we attended and home schooled us. If she hadn't of done that, I would have never learned simple phonics and how to read at all. Those years together made us all really close as a family, and that is something you can't ever get from any other institution. Thanks Mom.

Seriously, I have taken multiple psychology classes and gone through a school system of memorize and regurgitate. That doesn’t plant anything in long term memory. I started homeschooling for multiple reasons. Hooked on phonics is the best thing ever! I’m so happy my kids are learning to read not memorize spelling of words!

The most rewarding time of my life was when I tutored 2nd and 3rd graders who could not read. We learned phonics first, and those children got excited how fast they could learn how to read with comprehension.❤

My husband was homeschooled when he was a kid, in the mid-late 80's and 90's in Florida. He had a very interesting, even idyllic, homeschool experience. His parents were older and semi-retired, and my husband and his sister were their second set of kids. (They raised their first set in the 60's and 70s, in public school.) In the late 80's his parents bought a live-aboard sailboat and did the boating/sailing subculture thing. Early in his childhood, his parents taught them both the essentials-- how to read, how to write, and basic math. But everything after that was led by their own interests. He was into computers and math. His sister was really into art and making things. They did a modified form of 'unschooling', combined with correspondence school to comply with certain state requirements for a formal curriculum, which covered additional lessons, like geography, history, etc.
The way my husband described it, the first few hours of the morning he'd zoom through his required correspondence school lessons, often doing month's worth of work in a week (and as a result, becoming very advanced in certain subjects). The rest of the day he would do whatever he wanted, so he'd read, go fishing or swimming, write programs on his basic computer (no internet), help his dad work on the boat, and hang out with other boat kids when they were docked at the marina. He developed a tight group of friends his age, and they did lots of kid stuff. But he also spent a lot of time talking to adults of all ages.
Here was the result: For one thing my husband is very good at talking to people. Adults would very often comment how mature he was for his age. He finished his high school lessons at 13, and sold his first piece of software at the same age. Took his GED at 15 and enrolled in college at 16. Started his first company at 24. He's extremely good with his hands. He can fix anything. He's also just really polite and really humble (he'd never talk about all this himself). Today he's a world-class programmer and runs several small businesses and does software consulting. His sister did well too. She married an architect and became a realtor.
The one thing that was difficult for him was when he got to college and had to learn to interact with 'the system' made up of public school kids. His new peers partied a lot, drank a lot, dressed and spoke differently, and were all older than him by 2 years. And he was this smart, nice nerdy kid who just wanted to learn. He adjusted fine, though it took him about a year to learn how to fit in and 'be cool'. Still, he excelled in his classes and his professors loved him.
I was a public school kid myself, and as someone who struggled with it, I'm pretty sold on homeschooling. It's not without its challenges, but if you are willing to make the early sacrifices required set it up for your kid, it's superior. Homeschool is about teaching kids how to teach themselves, so they develop internal motivation. Public schools teach kids external motivation only, where they only do things to get good grades or avoid being punished. I think to get the most out of homeschooling, embed it in a lifestyle that provides you with a well-rounded 'life-education'. I.E, getting outside, making things, interacting with neighbors and older people, cub scouts, sports, mentorships, whatever. There are so many ways to do it. We just had our first baby, and we're planning to homeschool.

You pay the tuition either up front or in 10 monthly payments and that tuition includes all of her lessons, worksheets, etc. The teacher even explains the worksheets so there isn't much you'd have to do other than supervise and assist as needed. I work full time so that's why we chose the teacher led. But we make our own schedule, we choose our start date, and we have up to 12 months to complete the 170 lessons and have the work turned in. I'm not comfy teaching my kids French, Latin, Greek and German. Probably also not the best to teach them Math, since I only had medium difficult Math.
How can I give them all? I only have Biology, Dutch, English, Physics and Chemistry. That is only half a curriculum. They will be even worse in my worst subjects.
I'm just amazed how Americans are so scared that Spanish will turn their kids into communist atheists. Being in a christian school is what made me stop believing in their stories. Reading the bible made me stop being christian.
A public school that doesn't teach religion could never do that. They can only learn you subjects. Subjects that prepare you for enginering, med school, vet school, psychology and all other important high society jobs.

@@MissMoontree Public schools are the most widespread religious schools in the world. The father of public schooling in the US even stated this openly in his creed.
Read My Pedagogic Creed by John Dewey. He said "teachers are social servants who help usher in the true kingdom of God."
He was an atheist who adopted the philosophies of Charles Darwin and Karl Marx, as dictated by Adam Weishaupt. This is the history you never learn about the modern schooling movement.

I've realized it's more important to have a flexible job you can do from home around being a mother. That way I don't have to give up the care of my child to someone else and can still contribute to household/stimulate my brain.

A second vehicle, more gas/tolls/parking, more takeout, more work outfits, more taxes, more expensive insurance, etc. Many families would be better off financially if they were on a single income, especially considering medicaid and EBT available to low income families. And I don't think any family that educates their children at home should feel shame out accepting it. It's legal, and they're saving the government thousands by not having their children in public school.

She had already had indoctrination last year into LBGT and stopped talking to or seeing her father 4 months ago because his Christian/conservative ideas are too much for her. Her mom is very liberal and onboard with everything but my son is divorced from my granddaughters mother and she has total custody. My son is heartbroken that she has basically cut him off without any remorse at all. She’s become quite a cruel child. It’s sickening to watch but this is exactly what the government wants. I'm sorry to hear this has happened to your family. The sad thing is, even if your son gained custody today, it's going to take years of therapy to undo the damage to his daughter's mind. That is a problem with entertainment manipulation today. THe fictional new heroes are false prophets, while the old true ones are demolished. For example Rey from Star Wars. She presents an overpowered woman who does not have to work hard to be so strong, and needs no man to learn. It is said that she is a strong woman and that you must not criticise her. Political suggestion, you young fans of her do not have to work hard to be intelligent and strong. Being a woman and maybe having a special race is enough. You only should follow the ones who created her so you have made the win. But in fact that is nonsense. Whereas Luke is a true icon that stands for inspiration of all people to show that strength has to be earned through hard work, sacrifies, compassion and inner determination. Sometimes you mast make sacrifies and the world will not bend to you. But you can prove that you manage to achieve your goal, even if superiors do not believe it. Independent self thinking and free will is necessery. So luke is hated be new SW owners because he goes against their goals of achieving simple minded slaves. They tried to deconstruct him as with other heroes like Spock or Picard.
