I installed my 180Pro last week on my 2015 PA14. The install took longer than I thought it would, but I was also trying to make everything super tidy. I took it out yesterday and tooled around for 6 hours. I got a max speed of 5.50 mph in a fully loaded kayak with heavy head wind. After a full 6 hours I only burnt through just under 25% battery capacity. This is my first motor and I am in love. I can't wait to see where this thing takes me.
I started watching when trailer swift was being built because I needed solid ideas to redo my yak trailer. I then bought a new PWR129 in cammo this spring: saw you got the same boat and yes, I decided sooner rather than later on the trolling motor and settled on the NK180pro because of the ease of install and lightness of the motor and knowing the confidence you have in the company. I decided before even seeing this vid I wanted to keep the peddle steering separate from the trolling motor because the PWR will also go shallow river fishing and won't need the motor all the time. Great stuff ...keep em coming! 35:32
One of the best kayak motor videos I've seen, clear and to the point. Congrats man. No I've made up my mind. Looking forward to get my NK180 PRO. I'm pairing it with a shearwater 125 kayak, any thoughts?
Oh great! 🙄 I found this channel because of your camper build stuff and now I’m liking this Kayak/fishing stuff 😄 now I need mo money. 😂 thanks for sharing sir!
K&J magnets are very strong. You can use 3m hbv double sided tape to hold it. That would be great for the throttle control. The tape is super strong if done right. I plan on putting my gear tracks on my Primos withe the 3m tape.
Great discussion on a great motor (the newer version than mine! WHY do they always come out with something new and improved AFTER I purchase it?!?). That NK180 PRO sounds perfect- they addressed all my concerns (not that many, but still...). The waterproof throttle assy. is a huge improvement! (I fish saltwater mostly.). The shorter power cable from motor & HD plug are nice & Of course, better speed, distance & quieter, all at the same price. WOW! I will put a thought/consideration/suggestion out there for you! This helped me out with my NK180 on my Hobie Outback. I tried a 1/4" slab of dense rubber between the motor mount and the yak. This cut down the conductive noise/vibrations thru the hull tremendously. (you will need to get longer 1/4-20 screws). Those big empty hulls resonate like a drum or megaphone! This may not be an issue with the new quieter motor. You might also need a cam lock to hold your motor lift cable, keeping your motor out of the water - hands free! I love mine. Thank you & keep up the great work!
NIce!! can the 300 and 36volt battery go on this kayak for a higher top speed? If so...are you planning to try that also? The concept of this kayak build is in line with what I may try to do in the future.
This is awesome like all your videos… thank you as I have learned a ton from you. I am considering the NK180p vs the Torqeedo 1103. The Torqeedo website says that including the battery the 1103 weighs 15.3kgs or 33.7 pounds. If you add the NK180p up with the Newport 24v 50amp that all weighs 36.3 pounds. I know that the NK180 is significantly less expensive but weight wise it seems in favor of the 1103 despite the 1103 having more power. Would love your perspective on which to get. Thank you!
24v50ah is equivalent to 1200wh, it means you can run the 180pro with full throttle for 2 hours, the battery of 1103 is 915wh only tho, so it will last for about 50min with full throttle. I guess this is why 1103 can weigh about the same to 180pro
Great Information. I am new to this Kayak upgrade world. Would you consider producing an overview video for the different electric motor companies/options.
Would the pro be enough for a Native Titan 12.5 with an Xi3 on the front already or should I grab the bigger one you have on your Hobie ? The pro looked like it didn't weigh anything lol
I added one to my PDL120. It makes getting out to the reefs a breeze. Trolling at low speeds for Salmon is perfect with this motor. The way they calibrated the throttle curve makes dialing in slow trolling speeds so simple.

Awesome! 👊🏼

@@LewisWobbly okay. Thank you. Helpful.
That looks like a great kit. I wonder if it works with the Autoboat GPS anchor lock?

Man this makes me want to get a PWR.
Worth every penny...just paddling the PWR is a dream over the old town topwater I sold this spring...and now to add the NK180pro!
looking forward to 180pro PWR 129 vs NK300 PA14 , should be interesting

I think the 180pro would push it just fine and be a much lighter motor. 👍🏼
Only thing good about Monday is Kayak USA!

Would you put the 180pro on the titan x 12.5? I’m torn between the 300 and 180pro
First
You’re easily amused….. 🙄
Do I need to buy NK motor, and if yes, which model, if I already have Motorguide up front? How it beneficial to have both running at same time?
