  • I'm in the south west of England for this one, 2 million visitors a year & wild roaming ponies!
I plan on wild camping in all 15 of the UK's national parks, this time it was Exmoor; 10 down 5 to go.

Really enjoying this series Liam! I notice the jam is from good old Essex - the best jam you can get! :) We had the same experience with an airbed when camping in the South of France once, it got so hot in the tent during the day, the stitching burst at the bottom and ballooned up. We had to sleep that night with out feet about a foot higher than our heads!

Great video - I would be cautious about lighting fires in wild spaces though as it becomes very difficult to leave ‘no trace’ - if you do your research you’ll see that Scotland particularly Lomond is blighted by people camping and lighting fires and that it is in fact forbidden in some areas.

Hi Liam. I am not a troll as I love all you work and have been watching it all of for over a year now. You do an excellent job and are an good ambassador for our great outdoors. I will however nitpick on this occasion over the fact that you was not in Devon but in SOMERSET! Devon starts at least 8 miles to the west. Only saying this as I live in Somerset and love exmoor. Cornish/Devon clotted cream and scones might be alright on bodmin moor or Dartmoor but in Somerset some proper cheddar cheese and a bottle of cider would have hit the mark. Looking forward to more of your adventures. Stay safe.

I stand corrected but have just spent quite some time with OS explorer map exmoor trying to find the boundary but it is 1/2 k off it. So trying to work from the OS app I found it difficult to be accurate but couldn't be to 2 decimal places. Can I ask how you measured it? I know google maps have distance calculator between dropped pins for the USA and I'm not sure if they do UK County boundaries. What's the answer?

Apparently the vertical baffles are more resistant to them ungluing aka popping! Lol

just for reference Liam, wars have been faught between the Cornish and the Devonians when it comes to cream teas. so as not to make aa faux pas you need to know that in Devon the clotted cream goes on the scone first with jam on top and in Cornwall it's done the correct way jam goes on first with cream on top. And the idea is not to make them in to a sandwich but keep them as four halves, that way you get to enjoy twice as much jam and twice as much cream. If you haven't made it over the border in to Cornwall yet you really should as there are some equally stunning places although you need to keep an eye out for the beast of Bodmin moor.

I did a 3 day hike through Dartmoor wildcamping at the foot of hills last August. Just next to Exemore i guess. Dartmoor is Pretty terrifying. I had a book with me and it said that the wild poneys havent been truely wild for a while as they are controlled in reproducing, marked and owned (i am not 100% but it does stick in my memory so). But this doesnt take the magic away of seeing these herds in the middle of nowhere…
