This has been so helpful. I knew my wig was heat friendly, but thought I'd do damage to it using heat ..... go figure! Honestly, your videos are so much fun with your friends and family. I laughed so much with this video. It's like I was in the bathroom with you. Thanks!!❤
My fourth wig is in the mail!!! I cut my own hair, so experimenting with cutting and styling wigs is becoming a hobby!!! This video is a great help. Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you so much Frannie! This video was sooooo helpful! I love wearing heat friendly wigs, but haven’t been great about caring for them as I should. So I really appreciate the tips! 💜🩷🧡
Frannie, you must have read my mind because I was hoping for a video just like this. I have been debating about getting the René of Paris tool. I will be watching this again, probably more than once. I was really wondering about maintaining curly or wavy heat friendly synthetic. Thank you so much for this video! I actually just got my very first heat, friendly wig recently. I had avoided them for 10 years.
I'm so glad you found it helpful! For wavy or curly HF wigs, I think the Tressallure Cool Flow Dual Styler would be better. If you have any questions, please let me know.💕
Hi Frannie, a fantastic video, thank you! extremely helpful and certainly very entertaining! As a Brit I freak out a bit seeing electrical goods being used in a bathroom although it seems the sensible place to do it. Thank you for all you do to help us along with our wig journey xx

Great video! Thanks for sharing. Do you think we could ever see a wig factory tour? I would especially love to see how the wig is styled once it's made.
Loved this video. Envious of people just popping in to see you... even in your bathroom! I am confused about something: I noticed sometimes but not all the time you use the water spray. Please explain. Thank you.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. I use the water the same way you'd use a thermal spray (as a heat protectant). I don't use it with the Rene of Paris tool, because the temp is lower on that (only 240 degrees F), but the Tressallure tool's lowest setting is 280. I've never tried wetting the hair with the ROP tool, but now that you mention it, I will. Always good to test things out. Thank you!💕
Yes, I found that once I got the hang of the movement on the Cool Flow tool in particular, it was much easier. 'The key is the way you turn the wand 180 degrees and control the speed of moving it through the hair. Keep working at it. You'll get it.💕

Hi Frannie, I'm going to try this on my synthetic wig. Your sisters should thank you for cutting their hair when, young perhaps it was your cuts that have gave them thicker hair!!😀😀
Excellent video, Frannie!!!I love the ROP tool! I will check that out! One thing I do differently is use a heat protection spray. Because that tool uses less heat, do I still need the heat spray??? There was a Twilight Zone episode where they had no faces!!!! You girls crack me up!!!!!
Thank you; this was very helpful. Do you have any suggestions for approaching heat maintenance for a wig like BT Alexandria? I love it but it really needs some help ASAP, starting with the tangles.
I’m glad you found it helpful! For Alexandria, I would use the TressAllure tool and section in small sections. I would move slowly with the curling iron to get more of a curl. Start in the back. When I was first learning, I liked starting in the back to make sure I did it the way I liked it before messing with the front.💕
This was so helpful! I just bought my first wigs and they are heat friendly (I just went for it!) but have never had or worn wigs before. I bought the Jon Renau detangler and heat thermal spray. Should I not use the thermal spray each time I apply heat to my HF fibers or is it good to do that? Thank you!
I'm so glad you found this helpful. You should use either heat thermal spray or water every time you apply heat. It helps to protect the fibers. Which wigs did you get?
Have I seen a video that you did showing how to open a new wig in order to preserve it in case you want to return it? Can you send a link? Thank you love.❤❤❤❤
Frannie I have Picture Perfect and bought 10 of them. However when I wash and dry them on my wig stand the curl is gone!!! HOW DO I GET THEM BACK TO THE ORIGINAL CURL ESPECIALLY ON THE SIDES WHERE IT'S CUT SHORTER???
Hi Jan, Are you talking about Tressallure's Picture Perfect? frannieshair.com/products/picture-perfect-tressallure My PP is a straight wig, so I wasn't sure if you were talking about the same wig.
Hi Frannie! I need your help! I new to wigs. Have been diagnosed with androgenic alopecia so my hair is falling off. I have bought 2 tressallure wigs, flawless waves and Trend, and they are clumping together. I only have a flat iron at home that I can adjust the heat on, but I'd love to order the tools yiu are using, but I was told that I have to use heat protectant spray on heat friendly wigs first before using a heat tool on them? Is that true? And if so then what heat protectant spray do I need to buy?
I'm so sorry to hear what you are going through. You can use water instead of heat protectant spray. I use that in this video. If you want to get a heat protectant spray, Jon Renau makes a good one: frannieshair.com/collections/hair-care-products/products/heat-treat-thermal-spray Also, I will be reviewing a brand new tool soon that, from what I hear, does not require heat protectant or water. It's supposed to work on regular synthetic as well as HF also. I should be receiving it tomorrow, and I will get to work testing it.
@@FranniesHair thank you so much for being so quick to reply. I feel a bit lost with everything to learn. I am overwhelmed to say the least. Thank you for your sympathy, it means a lot. It's a grieving process to lose your hair. I have listened to your own story, how you came about to start with wigs and I am sorry for what you went through as well but I am glad you are here and healthy. A friend of mine just recently had breast cancer removed and her hair is falling out now from the lack of estrogen. I think they have given her a drug to reduce estrogen and from what I understand estrogen is what's making our hair grow. My androgenic alopecia started now with menopause so I guess it reared it's ugly head due to my estrogen flatlining too due to menopause. I have tried minoxidil and finasteride DHT blocker but I can see it's not enough to hold back the hair loss, plus the finasteride is too harsh on the liver so I think I have to give up the fight of what's left of my hair abd embrace wearing wigs. If I can use plain water instead of heat protectant spray then it's so much better as water is free and no need to order anything on a regular basis. I'm going to look for and join your facebook group. I'd love to be a part of your community for support ❤️
Hi Barb, yes...I believe it's best to work on a clean wig. I don't know what heating up a wig with various products on it will do to the fibers. Thank you so much for watching!💕
Start with the hair at the nape...it will give you a chance to experiment in a spot that is less noticeable...and keep in mind, you can always re-straighten and curl again.😁💕
For really damaged ends on Heat Friendly Fibers, I like to straighten first. For that, I would say the Tressallure Cool Flow Dual Style is better. It really seals all the ends. The Rene of Paris Hot Tool is more of a comb, so it doesn't always get every end, and it's not as hot. But if you have damaged ends on a regular synthetic, I'd go with the ROP Hot Tool because of the lower heat. The higher heat could really damage a regular synthetic wig. Also, remember that Rene of Paris only recommends their tool for their wigs. I will be testing on other wigs going forward to let you know my results.💕
Not a dumb question at all. I used the water with the higher temp tool (Tressallure's lowest setting is 280 F). I haven't tried water with the Rene of Paris tool (goes to 240F), but I will test to see how it works with the water. When the designer from ROP used the tool, he didn't use water...so I just followed what he did. The water acts as a protectant with the higher heat tools.💕
Love the video...this is so scary for me....I used some heat on my HF Gabor wig to redirect my hair out of my eyes.....it fried it...I had to chop bangs in it 😢. I am a cosmetologist I feel more comfortable cutting my wig than using heat. That wig unfortunately is now my lawnmoweing wig.😂
