@@SimonWard1 For an excellent job, words of praise are a must as it does justify all the effort and hard work put in by you. I wish I could find someone to colorize the 1962 film "Night of evil" starring my top fave, Lisa Gaye and William Campbell. Its a film in the public domain. May be it has to be restored a bit, darkened before colorization.
Thank you for your kind words. I have had a look on the archive and yet to find "Night of Evil", however, there is a black and white version on TH-cam here th-cam.com/video/UBKM5hNp-iY/w-d-xo.html but I don't think it would be allowed for me to download directly from TH-cam and colourise someone else's work. It looks like they have done a good job restoring it. I will keep looking and see what I can find. Requests really help me, thank you.
I have always like this movie..........the acting is superb, the musical score is very good.........overall a fabulous movie. Allene Roberts was exquisite in this role. The overall cast was outstanding. Great job restoring this film.
ONE of best MOVIE'S 🤔 I've seen. Such, awesome acting 😮 Meg, was a beautiful sweetie . To trust whole heartedly, to have the world as you have known it, completely shattered 😭. Have seen Pete, think maybe through my Dad. He certainly, was a talented 😮 ACTOR. Whoever would of thought of such a dramatic storyline 😧 was on the edge of my seat, from beginning to end Bravo🙏💓
Thank you for all your work. Personally, I am happy to watch these films in original black and white. Thanks for adding these to your channel. Don’t let anyone get under your skin with any idiotic comments. You are appreciated.
Thank you. I do get a few negative comments that used to make me feel a bit upset but all the lovely comments, like yours, has given me so much more drive to continue with the project. People are watching movies they probably wouldn't have thought about watching or didn't even know existed, bringing back some of the old classics in front of new eyes. I love all the nice comments and people being able to enjoy what I do, I really do enjoy this project a lot. Thank you and you are greatly appreciated.
Wow! I have heard of this film before and never had the chance to see it. I am so glad I did. If I had seen this as a child, it would have really creeped me out .I was a very impressionable child. Beautifully atmospheric and unsettling. Allene Robert's performance was incredibly moving. Veterans Robinson and Anderson gave the film the loft of a classic. Calhoun and London were effective as the naughties. It will stay in my mind for a long time possibly being one of my now favorite films.
Simon - You are wonderful. Bless you for your contribution to society by providing these colorized films. More people will be willing to see them in color than in Black & White. You are preserving an era of immense cinematic effort for posterity by making these works accessible for the next generation. Respect and cheers from Canada! P.S. Young Julie London (Tibby) already showed great magnetism at this early stage in her life. Men were always drawn to her throughout her illustrious career in song, film and television. It is no wonder that she was already cast as a young femme fatale type...
Thank you so much for your kind words of support :) I am glad you found the channel and hope you enjoy more of the classic movies I have restored. Hopefully more on the way. Thank you :)
An ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE! Edward G. Robinson in his prime, with a terrific supporting cast. Wonderful story, fabulous music (Miklos Rosza!), a beautifully colorized adaptation - just a GREAT CLASSIC! Thank you SO MUCH for posting. Much indebted to you.
I was amazed that none of the school kids carried bags with school books and homework! When school was finished for the day, it was finished and children could go back to being children, and being family members with a few chores to do. Wish it was still like that. Also couldn’t understand why the father didn’t drive Nathan home, it was a long way to walk, especially in that weather in the dark, it would have only taken a few minutes in his truck/car.
I agree with you 100%! My son is constantly getting homework. Something is wrong with the curriculum if they can't fit all the work in school hours. Kids need to be kids, have fun, enjoy time out of school, not have a continuation of the school day at home. Parents are parents not teachers.
@@SimonWard1 I never carried books home for homework much less wore a backpack. And this went on through high schoo.l would become a teacher ( elementary,) and I never gave a ton of homework-- that is until The Powers That Be made guidelines for specific time for each level in schools. Competition from bigger states led.much to today's dilema and it's only getting worse. And wonder why kids have so much anxiety?
Don't Worry Simon - the fact that you are able to share them and in good resolution means a great deal. Thankyou - And I give you two thumbs up and 5 gold star rating ...
@@SimonWard1 What I'm getting at here is That It mean a whole lot that these old films are not forgotten - And I really appreciate it very much, More over These films are more entertaining than films of today So - Keep up the great work...🤗
Oh my gosh! I can’t even watch the movie right now, had to put it in my movie playlist for later but I was trying to see what it was about and saw where you said it took you 14 hours to do. That amazes me and I want to thank you for all that time you put in. I’m very impressed and I appreciate it so much! I wish you the best and hope you rise to the top.
Thank you for adding it to your playlist and I hope you enjoy it. The enhancing I do uses a graphics card and software. 14 hours adds new frames using AI, removes some of the lines, cleans it up, converts it from SD to 4K and colourises the movie. It's a long process, I really need a new graphics card. The latest movies haven't been good enough in my eyes so I had to delete them. I have had 98% good comments from many people, the project is going amazingly well, far better than I ever thought! With that, I have gone ahead and invested into a new higher end graphics card which should arrive this week. This will allow me to convert movies at not only higher quality but much faster, allowing me to add lots more. If you have any requests, please let me know and I will do my best for you. Thank you.
Any roll of old celluloid from the great era of Hollywood cinema is a piece of our nostalgic American history on film. All of these actors grew up as ordinary Americans bringing a piece of their struggles, emotional triumphs, first experiences with love, and tragic realization of poverty, war, and death to the screen as they dug down into their own life's experiences to bring these characters alive. Some lonley housewife out on the Palouse prairie who just gave birth to her fourth child from a teenage marriage sat down and escaped her druggery for a few hours to enjoy this movie in a theater 77 years ago, and only 2 years after WW2. This movie as many others from this era gave a moment of pleasure to generaations afterwards, whether on TCM from a satellite dish on an old farm house in the mountains of Idaho on a rainey afternoon in black and white, to a colored refurbished version by a you-tuber named Simon Ward for a housewife to enjoy on a cold sunny fall afternoon taking a break from stacking firewood for her wood burning stove. These movies are as priceless as the classics that never disappear. The celluloid nitrate film looked different before modernization techniques. It's difficult to achieve that vintage look with modern equipment.
You do a great job!!!!! Two movies... 1). The Hellstrom Chronicles... 2.) Syolent Green ... Both movies were extremely controversial when they came out... I'd be surprised if you could find a copy of either of them anywhere! Hope you can... you'd get very rich if you could find out if they could be copyrighted.. they came out in the late 60's and/or the early 70's. It'd really be worth it to show them... the shares and comments would be unbelievably high ! Good luck hunting for them!!! Thanks for all your hard work! The move was really good!
Thank you so much for your kind words. Would The Hellstrom Chronicles be this one here th-cam.com/video/lVZpzLUoGU0/w-d-xo.html as I can't find it in the public domain archives, but that one is on another TH-cam channel in colour. Syolent Green, I have found a copy here archive.org/details/soylentgreen_201907 however, I don't think this is in the public domain due to it's 1973 date which wouldn't have the copyright expiration.

I wrote about this movie in a column for our paper ( and no, I'm not a movie critic) about ten years ago and my reason? It scared me as it dredged up childhood memories at age nine. My parents bought our first house on a street full of people and kids-- at the end of the street was a cul de sac and then woods. I played in the woods with friends-- we even had a so-called camp. We were all over those woods or so we thought. One afternoon after school, we were in the woods when an old man and woman came walking out with baskets of eggs. They stared at us but didn't speak. I'd never seen them before nor had my friends but watched them go down the hill. Odd but they were never seen coming back that way. In my imagination, I pictured them living in an old house deep in the woods. Fast forward, when I saw this movie in my twenties it was as if I just knew somehow that the couple lived in a similar house. Red? I never knew. Sometimes what scares you when you're young is right, while other times, it's coming to the wrong conclusion. In my case, it was mixed feelings, but I won't forget them ever. Edward G. Robinson was a fabulous actor in this movie as well as his others. It's intense at times to say the least! Thanks for restoring this classic movie!❤
Thank you so much for your comment, very interesting. When I was a child, I somehow was put through Salem's Lot, it scared the life out of me and I still have flashbacks of the devil scene! They don't make horror movies like they did in the past. The Red House is by far the most popular film I have enhanced and it is easy to understand why, a classic film, one of the best!
@@SimonWard1 You're most welcome and I'm honored by your comment. Salem's Lot was terrifying to me as well. Oddly enough I watched ( again,) The Red House that you enhanced: It made it so more watchable than in black and white. And I'm grateful to and for you. Events when we're kids either affect us or not. The Red House brought back my scary memory and still does. My favorite.movie genre is mystery but not ones that involve mega supernatural. Again, thanks.

Thank you! What your doing is greatly appreciated! 👍
Your hard work is so appreciated. Blessings 😊
What a CRAZY, INTRIGUING, FANTASTIC MOVIE!!! So much DETAIL for back then, the Farm, the Woods & that Old Red? House...THAT MUSIC! BRAVO 👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you for watching :)
I have always like this movie..........the acting is superb, the musical score is very good.........overall a fabulous movie. Allene Roberts was exquisite in this role. The overall cast was outstanding. Great job restoring this film.
ONE of best MOVIE'S 🤔 I've seen.
Such, awesome acting 😮
Meg, was a beautiful sweetie .
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you for watching and once again for your positive comment, means a lot, thank you :)
A really good movie . They don't make movie's like this anymore . Thank you for sharing. SMILES 😊
Thank you for watching and glad you enjoyed it :)
Who in the world would give a thumbs down or make a negative comment. The very fact of what you do is awesome! You should be commended
Good job on cleaning up an old film. Thank you.
Wow! I have heard of this
film before and never had the chance to see it.
I am so glad
I did.
Thank you for watching and really happy you enjoyed it. Out of all the movies I have enhanced, this one is by far the most popular.
Thank you for the beautiful job you did restoring and colorizing this wonderful classic.
You are very welcome, thank you :)@@mtx5319
No problem at all, thank you for your kind words, positive comments keep me going :) Glad you enjoyed it :)@@mtx5319
Great Story, great Actors - especially Edward G. Robinson - and great music. Thank you.
No problem at all, thank you for watching and glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
Wonderful colourisation of these old pictures.Thank you so much for all your work in preservation and indeed , enhancement of these movies.
@@verenamaharajah6082 farm kids have a lot more than a few chores. I know bc of my grandkids growing up on a farm.
Thank you so much :) You are a star :)
@@SimonWard1 What I'm getting at here is That It mean a whole lot that these old films are not forgotten - And I really appreciate it very much, More over These films are more entertaining than films of today So - Keep up the great work...🤗
Thank you for posting. This is the kind of film that I love to watch.
No problem at all, thank you for watching, greatly appreciated :)
Thank you.
Reception is great-- thanks for sharing. Keep posting❤
Love these old black and white movies. Thank You

Thank you for watching, lots more to come :)
WOW 😳 how dramatic 😮.
It's so incredible.
The acting superbly presented.
So many issues to get your head around 😱.
Wonderful 😊 acting 😮.
WILL be BACK when it's finished 😊

I'm not AMERICAN.
I noticed you SPELT, colour, instead of the USA way, color.
I'm only saying this is maybe your from U.K.
Either, way it's cool, it's a good way to reach a wider audience.
I really appreciate you and the incredible work you do.
You certainly are gifted.
I really thought, it was only, so called Movie Professional's, that could do what you do.
I can appreciate, how MUCH time and effort you put into your craft.
Congratulations from me 💓 will watch more of your movie's, now I've found you.
Yes I am British, technology in the UK is far behind USA and more costly should we even try. I love USA, Florida is one of my favourite places, Clearwater Beach, Treasure Island, I would move there today if I could. Always found the Americans very friendly and welcoming. Thanks. Enjoyed it. The coloring was better than black and white. It didn’t matter. 😊
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you for watching. I am currently colourising some more on the list and enhancing previous colourised movies into the original black and white at 4K / 60fps.
Excellent work converting to color👍🏼🎨

I am not familiar with these old films and am rather narrow-minded with type genre that I enjoy, but gave this a try. I was glued! Thank you so much for giving us this movie. I will look for others in this era or type of film. I loved the story and the acting!
Thank you so much for your positive comment. I'm glad you enjoyed it, thank you for watching. I am building up a collection, there are around 200+ colorised movies, I am in the process of converting the originals to black and white at 4K 60fps, basically as they were but a lot more clear. I will be adding new movies to the collection in-between. The playlist for the colorised movies is here: th-cam.com/video/CS47ZG0VNUM/w-d-xo.html and black and white here: th-cam.com/video/HSSPeeStRfg/w-d-xo.html I will continue to add new movies to each playlist over time. :)
Thanks Simon. What a great movie. Gonna sub and watch more of your work. ❤
Thank you so much for your lovely comment and subscribing, greatly appreciated. Some are not great as the originals are in quite bad condition, but most turn out quite well. I love this project, I find it really enjoyable, not only because the software / hardware enhancing is something I enjoy but also the biggest enjoyment is offering people free movies, legally and having comments like yours, thank you so much!

Suspenseful but fast paced psychological thriller from the novel by George Agnew Chamberlain. Never imagined that I would one day see Edward G Robinson in colour! Love the subtle shades used, especially in the nature scenes of fields and trees. Looking forward to seeing what you achieve with the new equipment, and hoping it will pay for itself eventually! Subbing now and checking out your other films ❤
Thank you so much. Everything is installed, running some tests. I am currently enhancing "The Woman in Green" from 1940. I'm using the new graphics card and so far it's running twice as fast but I'm using an ultra setting rather than standard. I'm excited to see the result with fingers and toes crossed it will work out as well as I hope!

Superb and thank you for watching :)
Fantastic well done in the restoration a fab movie absolutely love it

🕊️ HELLO,
OMG!
I LOVED THIS MOVIE ... I HAD STARTED TO WATCH IT A FEW WEEKS AGO, BUT FELL ASLEEP ... TODAY, I SAW IT COMPLETELY.
NATE WAS SO PRECIOUS WITH HIS MOTHER, ENCOURAGING HER TO GET MARRIED AND SHE DID.
SORRY, THAT ELLEN DIED ... SHE GAVE UP HER LIFE FOR HER BROTHER CREEPY PETE ... HE WAS A WEIRDO.
AS FOR TELLER & TIPPY, THEY DESERVED EACH OTHER.
GLAD THAT MEG & NATE HAD A HAPPY ENDING ... I JUST WISHED, THEY SHOWED MORE OF THEIR LIFE TOGETHER.
BTW @ 1:01, IT SOUNDED AS CREEPY PETE SAID "OUR LEGS LEG IS BROKEN"
THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS GREAT MOVIE ... UNLIKE, THE TRASH OUT THESE DAYS, NO MORE WHOLESOME MOVIES AS THIS.

Love the fact that there is no special effects or animation.
Agreed! We had actors and actresses back then, now we have computer operators creating movies with CGI, no acting talent necessary.
Agreed.
A good story doesn't need any special effects which actually obscure the story.
Good job on cleaning up an old film. This is love movie.
