Wow!! What a difference is to enjoy watching an old good movie : excellent actors, an interesting plot, nice dialogues and good photographies. There were no computer technology, no graphic sex, no bad words, no cell phones, no complicated special effects, no remakes and yet we still enjoy these old ones. Just pure talents. Thank you so much for this movie in a cloudy Sunday afternoon!
This is quite a wonderful who-dun-it. Acting is first rate from the wonderful Van Johnson as a blind man around whom the narrative revolves. He is ably supported by the lovely Vera Miles. This is a not-to-be-missed masterpiece from 20th Century Fox, circa mid-50's. I saw the film as a child and got the same thrill when I watched again a few months ago. Van was the master of all genres. Put him in a musical, comedy, drama or any other genre for that matter, and he delivered, never disappointing the audience.
Super movie. It's surprising that there are so many excellent films that I have never seen before, and now we can see them all on TH-cam. Van Johnson is one of those prolific actors who was, I think, very underrated. NO ADS
I had exactly the same thought! 😀🙌 I always loved classic movies, but just recently discovered, that so many are available on YT, which I never have seen before. Also a great possibility to improve the English language. And it's nice to know, that more people like it too. Greetings from Germany! 👋🙂
I love how all the normal everyday sounds that we take for granted are increased in volume here so we can experience what his life is like. Plus, Van Johnson! 💜💜💜
Good flick, based upon a good novel. It puts you in mind of Hitchcock's Rear Window, doesn't it? And how refreshing it is to see people out and about without their eyes stuck to their smartphones! Those were the days!
Loved the DeLuxe Color, amazing to see the streets and inside of shops in London in 1956 in such good quality color, rare to get colour movies from the mid 50s
There are quite a few comments alleging that the movie is somehow an imitation of Hitchcock’s Rear Window. But actually it is based on the 1938 over Warrant for X y Philip MacDonald. Glad to find this
I rank this as one of the 5 of my favourite movies ever. I bought it in the versions available, in the last 20 years, VHS, DVD, DVD remastered and BD. And now I can even watch it on You Tube. I can't get enough of it. Exceptional cast, intriguing plot, the London atmosphere on a winter, foggy night. Thanks a lot for this improved vision version, too. To be kept, watched over and over. 👏👏👏
Awesome! It was my first time watching. So freaking good! I pray younger generations will learn to appreciate this type of flick. The world was different but that's what I want the youngsters to appreciate. Thanks for the UpL!😊
I don't know how young am considered anymore but I'm early thirties and grew up on old films. I've watched this particular one several times. I intended to show them to my children too.
I'm a huge fan of Miss Miles. I don't think I'd be watching this movie again and again if it weren't for her. She is totally mesmerizing. I'm not sure why. I'm 80. It's June 24, 2024 and I'm in St. Joseph, MO, USA

Wonderful Vera. She played Marty’s long suffering girl in the Searchers, and the scene where she gets a letter from him and has to read it aloud to her family, fizzing with rage, is one of the funniest and tenderest scenes ever.
I've seen hundred's of movies and never this one! Thank you for posting! I notice this was made after Van Johnson had his accident...evident by the scar on his forehead. Looking forward to watching more from you! xx
Bravo!!!! Exceptional movie! The actors portray their characters incredibly well, bringing the story to life...believable! The music, storyline and setting appear to be giving a nod to the amazing Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window made in 1954. My favorite style of movies! Thank you for sharing!
Great movie. You can feel the tension. And the love story about not feeling good enough when you have a “disability” to be loved. Love conquers all and we all deserve that kind of love. We all can have it if we just let go of our own fears.
A great relaxing film for a Sunday evening. Thanks for the upload and a glimpse back at a more classy time in 1950s London! Wonderful cast and plot, with no violence, bad language or CG graphics.
Thank you very much for uploading this enjoyable film. A touch of Sorry Wrong Number and a touch of Rear Window. Always enjoy seeing Cecil Parker in particular.
Van Johnson was a very handsome Swede who must have been very beautiful in person. Tall with strawberry blonde hair, blue eyes, fair freckled skin and a beautiful profile.
A period genre film that sets post-war London in an atmospheric way. Sunshine over the Thames and omnipresent haze. All in fairytale Deluxe Color,. I think, however, that Van Johnson is a great asset to the film because of his convincing way of portraying the blind playwright, where sounds play a vital role in his perception of the world.

Hi
All these old movies are now like time capsules for us to glimpse a bygone era which the people in the movie thought was ultra modern!
I was thinking the same thing. I love watching the interior design of those movies, the buildings that are no longer there.
