    I don't know why it's taken me so long to discover this stuff, but that's a game changer for me. Thanks very much for the video!

    enjoyed the science bit behind the plastics, already knew about spru goo but was interesting to note about the re scribing etc with me not being a plane builder, good stuff to note if i ever do one

    Very helpful and very useful information! I’ve never had to use sprue goo before and have never made any but then again, just bounced back into modeling about a year ago......after a 30 year hiatus! I will be trying this out soon, I’m sure! Thank you for your tutorials!

    Another great video. Well done. Thanks for confirming how I make mine and it's use.

    Hi Will,
    Great tutorial, as ever.....Can you do a fundamentals on scribing please? as it is one of my worst areas in model making.....to be honest I hate it. I need some one to go in depth, as most tutorials are relatively short. And they do not explain enough. like how to stop the scriber jumping out! what type of tools are best etc. etc..
    Cheers
    Mark

    Thanks Will very informative, I also heard for best results to use evergreen sheet plastic, So I know have 2 bottles of sprue goo on tap. I have not tried the( pure) evergreen formula as of yet, but from what you have said I think I will make one thick and one thin formula as there is no real advantage in using evergreen vs sprue. Thanks again and keep on teaching and sharing with us happy modeling

      Rory Thornton did you listen closely to what Will said about using Evergreen styrene for spru-goo? He said that using Evergreen isn’t the best result and it isn’t “pure”.

    When I made mine I used Evergreen and it didn't take a lot of styrene to get the effect, but if sprue works just as well and sands the same it is after all free [sort of] I will try this at one point because I am cheap

    Nice tutorial. I have been using "Sprue glue" for a long time. Great stuff that can be made in a lot of colors to match the kit. Cool beans!!!

    Possibly an idea for another Rubegoldberg Labs test is Evergreen vs sprue vs clear sprue filler test i always like your test videos

    Dude... Really? 10 minutes!? I was going through my subs, saw you had a new video posted and immediately ran off to the kitchen, made a cup of joe, made some breakfast, laid my phone nearby, settled in and got comfy for the long haul...only to discover... !0 minutes? Man....
    Good video though.

    You have your finger on the pulse of the nation! I was just wondering about this last week and set about trying to make a small test batch in an old bottle. Now where did I stash it??

    While I appreciate what you are saying about Evergreen vs Sprue Will, I have always found that sprue shrinks back more than evergreen? Any idea why?

    • @davesmith-mz6qg
      @davesmith-mz6qg 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      not too mention the oily stuff that separates out of this when you use sprue.

    • @barpfoto
      @barpfoto  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      you are literally the only person i've ever heard say this about the "oily residue". so yeah. there's that.

    • @barpfoto
      @barpfoto  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      nigel, different styrene compounds will behave differently. my goop shrinks very little and it's all kinds of random sprues, so it's just a toss up.

      Difficult isn't it? We were using it in the 80s in England. I don't know how you'd know who it was.

    Hey bud can I use painted sprue ! ? Or just plane sprue ! ?

  • @FunkySideBurns
    @FunkySideBurns 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    i think Phil Flory's stance on the evergreen is its more consistent in its use than using odd bits of sprue from different kits, not that its some how "more pure"

    • @barpfoto
      @barpfoto  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Except for the fact that he specifically said it was more pure. ;)

    • @davesmith-mz6qg
      @davesmith-mz6qg 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Will, you should really do your homework a little better. I just watched the video on making styrene filler and he never once said anything about evergreen being "more pure". Speaking from my own experience the stuff I made using Tamiya sprue separated out an "oily" looking substance at the bottom of the pot after a couple days sitting on the shelf. Evergreen or plastruct does not!

      ok. if you say so. you get on with it however you like, champ.
