Yeah, Bruce.. it's difficult to explain that our winter is 3-4 weeks long. I just learned about a new flesh treatment for backyard beekeeping when you find mites in some hives. From the Romanians. They make a 15% strong solution of formic.. and when they wash a hive with a lot of varroa they take a brush and paint the 15% formic on the capped brood only and put back in the hives. Just over the cappings.. this time of year
I avoid putting bees around intensive agriculture. As a side note, for health reasons, I don't do processed food and don't do wheat, corn, rice, potatoes and don't use canola oil. I figure as a side benefit I avoid some pesticide exposure as well. I would be happy to buy a side of beef from Ian.
I really wanted to watch this but it's spring here and busy busy busy 😂 checking splits 👍Interesting about the thymol based treatments. I live in a area where our main nectar producing plant is thyme ( the source of thymol) so I've never been sure how effective it would be in my colony's because of the natural thymol that comes in the door. We've had chalkbrood showing up this spring, wet weather and humid in central Otago southern New Zealand, but last week I put thymol gel into a colony with chalkbrood and checked the brood nest and it vanished 😂 and my bee's are moving it out of the colony fast, it hasn't impacted brood production but that's probably because they're used to natural thymol but it worked wonders on that chalkbrood 👍😁
Great stuff and thanks for checking in. You can always listen to the chat after the fact lol. I listen to a lot of stuff while driving down the road. Sounds like you are busy! We are slowing down and you guys are ramping up!
Is there any chance that the syrup is getting into the honey from our winter feed sources? If we’re feeding syrup in the fall, is there any chance in the spring they are moving the unconsumed syrups up into the honey suppers?
It doesn’t matter what’s available! ApitableT can be put in anytime of the year and it works while not sacrificing brood production!!!!!! In areas that is always hot , ApitableT is a great choice period. Not sure of your bias because the results are unquestionable period. I don’t sale or peddle . I am only a user of it for 2 seasons now!!!!!
Bob walker is were I get them because he is the first that made them available. You can get them now from Mann Lake also. There are a couple more places but not sure of there contacts .
How come no one is worried about the tropie mites they will reach us soon it bee nice to know what the plan is gonna be for them don’t see nothing on them
I watched it live on my TV so couldn't see me on there don't matter...I was surprised was only 20 people watching how to run multi million dollar operation...no one on TH-cam comes close to putting honey in the barrel as Ian Steppler does guess people don't like money..
Peak concurrent viewers were 178 and we had in the 160s I think for much of the video. I appreciate you watching. Ian is awesome and has a lot of knowledge. Glad he was willing to come on.
Js if there's one person it's Ian that's going to turn your operation into $$$$$ .. very few occupations left man can live free get away from people.. only reason there's such a nuc market.. commercial operations could shut it down take it over but they don't want to deal with people exactly the reason.. they love making money... just don't want to be around people or deal with people just bury themselves in the bees like Ian very rare they share . Want that life I'd absorb everything Ian saying js lol
@@TroySilver-ig5nl as cheap as the stuff is I would not use anything over a year old if your a dedicated user you will use what you buy every season I have 25 hives I I used a 1kg bottle
Running a wholesale nursery and being a beekeeper...I completely understand where Ian is coming from. Great Livestream guys 👍😁🐝💜 Thanks for sharing.

Nothing is absolute but I highly doubt it.
Yes but it should be barely minimum.
There are a lot of great minds in this chat.
Thank you for watching. I love to sit back and learn.

How old is old?
Good question. Not really sure how to determine if it is too old.
