The U.S is undoubtedly a great nation that provides its citizens & residents with lots of freedom and opportunities, which I am immensely grateful for. But nothing will compare to the feelings I get when I’m in Jamaica. I love the culture, food, vibes, and the relaxed, simple, and peaceful nature of life, especially in the countryside ❤
I fully agree and support the differences between Jamaica & North America. My experience being in North America has been alarming how in some sectors they still function like a big third world country. Example to name a few, is how the government treat teachers, medical professionals and homelessness. North America is more skilled in hiding inadequacies and and malfunctions.

But I never post and at this point I’m convinced these videos will never see light. Your videos give me hope that I can buckle up and take this dream serious. Thank you 🙏🏾
Great video. Most of what you shared was on point. In New Jersey, the attendants pump your gas. You don't have to pump your own gas which was nice when I was living there until I moved to Texas. Now I just let my husband get gas lol. I migrated to the US in 2013 from 🇯🇲. I miss the authenticity of the food and laid back culture but I do appreciate the opportunities and the lifestyle here in the US. Wishing you all the best on this new journey! ❤
Oregon used to be another state where you couldn't pump your own gas until recently. However, there is still the option to have the attendant pump your gas at no extra cost.
You did a great job on the comparisons between Jamaica and the USA. It was thoroughly researched and spot on. You are one of the better vloggers on Utube. Keep it going 👍 As for the roadways in America, I live in So Flo and the roads are constantly been worked on. In some neighborhoods the work might take a couple years but in the end it's wonderful. As for the many self check outs in the supetmarkets and other stores it is very common as Americans love moving fast so this is helpful to a lot of people. Jamaica do not need to follow this trend as the peolpe need the job as cashiers and for some it is viable means of employment. I miss your vlogs of Jamaica but life goes on. Much blessing in your new home in America ❤️
Excellent content Rochie. I am proud of you 💚💚💛💛 I lived in SC and I concur with your observations. I didn't like self checkout or pumping my own gas. Once I missed Ja so much, I was glad to drive on a bad minor road. Overall, I enjoyed the ease of life in the US especially when I had to go to the bank.
Congrats on your move to the US. I’m born and raised in Charlotte, NC. I heard you say you live in NC, I’m sure you’re going to enjoy the area. Reach out I’ll love to meet you.
In America we have both full service and self service gas stations. I'm in Massachusetts that has a mixture. But I'd say like 89 % self service. We got smooth roads as well as pothole ridden roads. We don't have apps to report potholes but we can call the city or highway department
Rochielin, that was a lovely breakdown and research you did there. Fantastic! Stay blessed. I feel like the government could utilise and delegate the funds to the appropriate areas in Jamaica better but unfortunately there are a lot of greedy people at the top. Look how beautiful Jamaica is already. Imagine if the government used the money well. The country will be flourishing!!! The population of Jamaica is only 3 million.
Your video is very informational awesome video. One of the reasons pot holes get fixed here in the US quickly is because you can sue for damages to your vehicle caused by pot holes and they don’t want the lawsuits. Trust mi NY and Philly full a potholes 😂
@@Rochielin you’re welcome. Yes if you hit a pothole and it damages your car you can contact the transportation dept at your local city hall and place a claim but you gotta have proof
@@Rochielin The northern states have problems with pot holes because the use salt on the roads in the winter times to melt the ice. The salt effects the road surface.
I'm from the states I and traveled to Bermuda (British rule) and I was the same way as you... my mantra was "stay to the left, stay to the left" as I was driving. Traffic circles were the WORST, so hard to navigate on the opposite side of the road.
I live in Naples, Florida. Very affluent, extremely clean and well kept landscapes. The I-75 in SW FL is very well kept, reflectors replaced, and no pot holes down this side... In the state of Florida, you can make a right turn on the RED light once there's no oncoming traffic. Also, you can go on the flashing RED (but stop 1st) and the YELLOW light in Florida.
I’m in Toronto and we can turn right on a red light unless there is signage not to do so which is only on very busy intersections. We can turn on red as long the pedestrian is on the other side of the median and there are no cars travelling across the green light, once it’s clear you can go.
In UPstate New York, we can make a right on red perhaps because the traffic is not as wretched as in New York City. I know you love New York, but hope you can visit upstate someday. Fall is very beautiful this time of the year with the leaves changing its a beautiful sight to see. Love your channel.
Self service has been here in the 🇬🇧 for more than 30 years but now it more widespread. I am a tech geek older person and love self service. But theft is on the increase with the cost of living crisis. Just a few days ago security and staff had to stop a man who had stolen a lot shopping. It was embarrassing to watch but self service is the main reason. Even big supermarkets close their tills at 7pm. Then it's self service until they close at 10pm or 12am. It encourages theft. You should do a part time job in the corporate world and get more insight into American verses Jamaican life. Love this video and like how you're doing your research to create excellent content. Stay blessed
Saratoga, Binghamton, Syracuse, Rome, Auburn, love Upstate...................Guthrine folks visit Time Square, two places in Brooklyn, Queens Bronx and say they visit NEW YORK LOOOOOl
Hello hello Richielin. Pray you and your Honey have a blessed time. In my state Mississippi, I believe the rule is you can make a right turn on the red light after you make a complete stop. 😊
Very interesting video Roch and thanks for highlighting those comparisons. Jamaica has quite a way to go my dear and based on our culture, it's fair to say that we will never get there with certain things.
Good to see you're settling in quite alright! For sure the driving can be a little nerve-racking at times; what helped me is that whichever side the driver seat is on reminds me that's where incoming traffic will be lol. That helps whenever I drive when travel back and forth between Ja and the US. Love seeing you dropping these info, keep it up!
I'm so glad this subject was brought up you're telling the truth about everything. I must say Jamaica's roads were bad I would visit go and come years later the same potholes and the same molds I've never seen nothing like it. It's nice to see the roadways finally being repaired. It is a very interesting video and you explain it all very well. I was wondering myself when is Jamaica government going to fix the side roads.
@11:55 it's all about where you are in certain states and their cities, and the interest of the state and local Government .. as for driving up here after a while it becomes natural then the problem will be when you go down there and drive..
Omg!!for the driving , living in Jamaica I never drive before, but migrated to America, now driving is very essential, so I am now getting driving lessons , still thinking about the left hand driving 😊 but now getting steady with right hand driving .
I always enjoy your videos. I thought Pediatrician was the same spelling in JA and US. My I live in NY and we have pot holes for months. Not all pot holes are fixed immediately.
Hey Roch, I move to the Queen City, NC from NY 17 years ago. Here you can always make a right turn but it is illegal in NY (you're bound to get a ticket) I'm a Jamaican myself and I still spell my words the same as I did growing up back home. In fact I got into an argument with a supervisor regarding my spelling, but that's a whole other conversation 😅. No worries honey I'm pretty sure you have adjusted to the changes already.
It's illegal to pump your own gas in New Jersey and Oregon. Back in time, there was no such thing as a self serve station, however, it was not unusual to get shortchanged at some stations, but that's another story. I do miss the complementary windshield wash and checking of oil but used to it now.
I am somewhat sorry you are not in Jamaica anymore to do those Jamaican videos but you have to do what's best for you. Rochielin you will find huge differences too between the northern states and the southernn states when you are comparing the USA with Jamaica. The state you live in is somewhat the border state of the two regions it's really more Virginia though, but still close. Be mindful of these big differences when you compare USA with Jamaica, some areas of the USA are like third world countries especially down south states like Alabama and Mississippi.
I have visited Jamaica 3 times. I love vacations there. The people are friendly but blunt. I love that so much. A beautiful warm paradise. I live in Oregon, and for the most part we can turn right on red. We also have gas station attendants, though lately most gas stations are understaffed, so local legislators passed a law allowing limited self service.
I grew up in Massachusetts and you cannot turn on the right, but when I moved to Florida a few years ago you could turn unless they had a no-turn sign, they also used to have pump attendance years ago, but they took the jobs away from those people. Most of these self-serve machines are so that they can employ fewer persons while putting more money in their pockets, that is why so many people are unemployed in the US. In Jamaica, we don't need that because that takes food out of a family's mouth, leaving them to beg and do things that they don't need to do just to feed their children.
This was a good video, very informative and clear. I visited Canada and spent some weeks there and all the things you highlighted in this video I've observed in Canada. No potholes on the road Driving on the right side of the road Allowed to turn right unless it says no right turn Self pump at the gas stations Self checkout at the supermarkets Other things I noticed though were that there was generally more reverence or respect towards the environment and nature than in Jamaica people drove better on the roads and were more considerate of other drivers food (groceries) was way cheaper than in Jamaica utilities were way cheaper than in Jamaica as well housing was generally more expensive though
Jamaica is natural. America is Material and paycheck to paycheck, to credit cards, very few own anything, just an illusion. Whatever you can achieve America you can achieve in Jamaica. Jamaicans running from Jamaica, and foreigners Flocking to Jamaica 🤔 because of opportunity in Jamaica. Best wishes my sister, Raspect.
What are the chances of starting up a tech company in Jamaica and finding talents to build it? I am talking a tech company that do cloud services, AI, 3D animation, etc.? I think the chance is very small. Those things are in my skill area and I’d like to start a business that does those things. So, I don't think anything you can do in America can be done in Jamaica.
As a born Jamaican who grew up in America returning home, my driving experience is opposite. Driving in Jamaica has been a complete rewiring. I still check myself when making turns. NJ is one state that still ONLY have gas pump attendant, so self-service pumps. I love this luxury. 😊
Great video, we have many choices now with the internet to work abroad & earn US dollars. Jamaica is ripe for that now. Its such a beautiful Island & tourist and many millions are addicted to our Island....we are blessed ......
I’m located in NJ, few potholes, and if one should pop up it’s repair quickly. We are spoiled too, most of us don’t know how to pump gas. We’re blessed.❤❤❤
Jamaica doesn't have road engineers, you can turn on the left in Jamaica too, you pump your own gas in Jamaica too at some gas stations. A which part a Jamaica you did live? You can use the bathroom without buying anything at the gas station
Glad to see you back. I feel sad when young people leave Jamaica. I hope it was for a good reason and not because you were brainwashed to think foreign is better.

Nice hair…greetings from Jamaica 🇯🇲 great video as always
Miss you, ROCHIELIN AND SHAWN, HAPPY THAT YOU ARE BACK AND AM ENJOYING YOUR EDUCATIONAL VIDEO...THANKS AGAIN. 😍🥳🥳🥳💯🙏🙏🙏👀👍🫵🫶💪
Rochielin, this is a well done video, and you’re are a beautiful soul. Keep putting out great content and much success to you!
Congrats on your move to the US. I’m born and raised in Charlotte, NC. I heard you say you live in NC, I’m sure you’re going to enjoy the area. Reach out I’ll love to meet you.
Great content Rochielin and very educational ❤❤❤
They have already started major road repairs in Jamaica which I understand is to last over two years.
Excellent Rochielin, I really enjoy this segment.
You're so right. Roads are critical and should be given a high priority.
Your video is very informational awesome video.
One of the reasons pot holes get fixed here in the US quickly is because you can sue for damages to your vehicle caused by pot holes and they don’t want the lawsuits. Trust mi NY and Philly full a potholes 😂
Oh wowww didn’t know they sue for potholes, thanks for sharing
@@Rochielin you’re welcome. Yes if you hit a pothole and it damages your car you can contact the transportation dept at your local city hall and place a claim but you gotta have proof
@@Rochielin The northern states have problems with pot holes because the use salt on the roads in the winter times to melt the ice. The salt effects the road surface.
So glad to see you again! Thanks for this historical update as well as some harsh realities. Looking forward to more great content!
Great video Rochelin👍🏾💯👏🏾
I’m in Toronto and we can turn right on a red light unless there is signage not to do so which is only on very busy intersections. We can turn on red as long the pedestrian is on the other side of the median and there are no cars travelling across the green light, once it’s clear you can go.
Great job girl big up❤❤❤❤
Good job jernalist thanks for the info enjoy your new environment and happy life love you girl all the best 👍. Caleen from Jamaica 🇯🇲
In UPstate New York, we can make a right on red perhaps because the traffic is not as wretched as in New York City. I know you love New York, but hope you can visit upstate someday. Fall is very beautiful this time of the year with the leaves changing its a beautiful sight to see. Love your channel.
I really wanna visit someday 😁
@@Rochielin whenever your ready my dear, you'll have a place to stay.
1776 is far away from 1962.I hope you get my point.America is a developed country, while Jamaica is a small developing country.
Great video, keep the good work ❤
'Pump attendance' in America is called 'Full Service'. We used to have that years ago, now it's self-service. ❤ Great video!
We missed you, Rochielin.
❤️ we are in Florida. Blessings and Welcome. We a falla yu.❤🎉😂
Girl, this is very informative. We pump gas ourselves here in Canada also.
Just saw your channel. Love it.
I was wondering myself when is Jamaica government going to fix the side roads.
good to see you..stay safe
I miss you young lady, welcome back.
You still need to stop before turning right, consider the red light a stop sign.
I always enjoy your videos. I thought Pediatrician was the same spelling in JA and US. My I live in NY and we have pot holes for months. Not all pot holes are fixed immediately.
Excellent reveiw Rochielin as always..!!
Here in Massachusetts some cities and towns do a poor job in fixing potholes.
Happy to come across your video again, keep up the good work, now ur live in my old state of North Carolina, blessing up on you 🙏
I don't use self serving machine because am not supporting anything that makes someone loosing them job
We make a right on red in Long Island which is NY.
One thing a notice in the African American communities are different from other communities
It's illegal to pump your own gas in New Jersey and Oregon. Back in time, there was no such thing as a self serve station, however, it was not unusual to get shortchanged at some stations, but that's another story. I do miss the complementary windshield wash and checking of oil but used to it now.
Very good narrative. Just discovered your channel, and am subscribing today. Wishing your channel lots of success
Such low key, calming voice.
Interesting
When ever your in Florida. Please come and hang out with us, seniors. We deh wid yu from de beginning. Blessings!
No potholes on the road
Driving on the right side of the road
Allowed to turn right unless it says no right turn
Self pump at the gas stations
Self checkout at the supermarkets
Other things I noticed though were that
there was generally more reverence or respect towards the environment and nature than in Jamaica
people drove better on the roads and were more considerate of other drivers
food (groceries) was way cheaper than in Jamaica
utilities were way cheaper than in Jamaica as well
housing was generally more expensive though
We’re blessed.❤❤❤
hello Rochelin as a african american it nice to hear your opinion on usa and jamaica .
Jamaica doesn't have road engineers, you can turn on the left in Jamaica too, you pump your own gas in Jamaica too at some gas stations. A which part a Jamaica you did live? You can use the bathroom without buying anything at the gas station
I still play hopscotch driving on a particular street in Newark New Jersey .
From my experience too many of NJ roads are filled with potholes; even the high ways… I was taken aback…
NEW SUBSCRIBER HERE 🎉❤🎉❤. I LOVE THE WORK YOU'RE DOING ❤🇯🇲💞🇯🇲
So very interesting information about Jamaica 🇯🇲 my dear friend ❤
Love this video Roch!
It as bee while my beautiful Jamaican sister, I used to watching your video a few years back when you were driving frome Kingston to linstead market.
Your idea are brilliantly 👏
Very diplomatic comparison. I like it.
You are a intelligent person.
Some part in NY like long Island you could turn right on a red light unless it say not to.
Glad to see you back. I feel sad when young people leave Jamaica. I hope it was for a good reason and not because you were brainwashed to think foreign is better.
Interesting, provoking comment!
She got married and migrated. Her husband already lived in America so she joined him.
You are going a butterfly job as always keep pushing ❤😊❤
Beautiful conceptualization
