When the US invests in Latin America, no one say the US is taking over Latin America. When China invests in Latin America, people said that China is taking over Latin America. It is called double standards.
When U.S bombs the Middle East, no one bats an eye. But when, Russia does the same, everyone loses their minds.

China wants to colonize Latin America, as they are doing to Africa, much like what europe did centuries ago. China now has a lot of money to throw around to poor nations who they are using to get their hands on their natural resources that are worth much more than the money China is paying out.

China is providing developing countries a way around the economic strangulation by setting aside the high financial costs. All these Chinese investments won’t do anything, they are just building roads, railways and ports in order to extract resources from our countries. In the maps of Chinese infrastructure projects shown in the video, you can clearly see how literally all investments in Argentina and Bolivia, and somewhat Chile and Paraguay, were connecting the lithium reserves (some of the largest reserves in the world of that mineral) with the port of Buenos Aires.
South American countries should grow by themselves, but in a common way. We should invest in each other’s countries and integrate our economies more. That doesn’t mean simply closing ourselves to the exterior, but just doing it carefully. Our countries aren’t that strong nor have any leverage by themselves, it’s easy to take over us and manage every aspect of our economy and political decisions

Just came back from Mexico City and I've lived in China and Taiwan before. Yeah, DiDi and Chinese phones were everywhere. Not surprised. I've owned Xiaomi phones and laptops before and they're an amazing value. Apple, like in China, is still seen as a status symbol for the upper middle class who can afford it. Also Chinese metros are some of the best I've experienced. America doesn't produce affordable high quality tech or modern metro systems. Couldn't even pass an infrastructure bill. Here in Colombia the rise of Chinese has been astonishing, before you wouldn't see any Chinese company, now almost all the big infrastructure contracts are going to chinese companies. Didi has shattered Uber here, now almost everyone has a Xiomi phone and China is also our biggest trading partner now.

I am old enough to remember how America said the same thing about Japan and Taiwan, cheap product low quality etc. Same can be said about apps, Uber can't even hold their dominance in ASEAN, beaten by Grab in Malaysia and Gojek in Indonesia. Amazon has a hard time beating Shopee and Lazada. The only western products I have are kitchen appliances, other than that it's all Asian brands.
Even those kitchen appliances are made in China
