What I find funny is the fact that Saito Chiwa was talking like a fanatic while Miki was there listening and nodding to all her long unwavered answers.
Wow, Saito Chiwa and Miki Shinichiro are on point with their character analysis. She says "That's why this time the Araragi-kun seen through Kaiki's perspective is neither good nor bad just one person." (5:55) and that is exactly what Kaiki is about. Koimonogatari opens with him explaining that not all people are purely bad and not all people are purely good. Chiwa recognised the nuance in his views and really understood the character. Having VA's this dedicated and this involved with the anime is just phenomenal. Major props to the whole team.
@@efdeecue i mean, araragi rejected hanekawa at tsubasa tiger and from that point, i was impressed at araragi's resolution and it really shows how much he values senjougahara. So from then all my doubts about a triangle with hanekawa were completely cleared out
This is some good conversations they're having here, I didn't even thought about the fact that when Kaiki first appeared as the main protagonist in the arc, it follows the same theme of saving someone close to you (the obvious one), but they contrasted him with Araragi, since Kaiki was an adult and alot more logical even, while Araragi was a high school student who was less logical, more so of a sentimental person. The writing of Nishio Ishin is as deep as always.
I can confirm that your perspective of almost EVERYTHING in this series changes as you age. I watched the series as it came out from early high school years, up until early college years roughly. Then I re-watched the whole series to refresh my memory before diving into the movie trilogy (which I had already read as a LN during my early high school years). My scoring for the anime hadn't changed very much, but my reasoning for liking the anime had completely changed from shallow reasons like fan service, and muh deep philosophical discussionsss that I couldn't understand as a kid. Instead my experience had increased my understanding of the depth within the events of the series. There's still dumb fan service, but the events and feelings of characters in this series hit way too close to home. It's kind of like the difference between watching a kids cartoon when you're a kid, and then watching it again as an adult and seeing all of the tid bits and jokes aimed specifically at adults that you never understood before. Except way better.
I always find it sad when I really really really like a story that something like fan service, or too much takes away from it. I don't mind some scenes like Koyomi sharing a bath with Shinobu or some of the Suraga scenes because they are really funny or important to a story, but there are also some moments where the scenes take too long or they purposely take a long skirt shot where I start thinking "man I wish I could just still focus on only the story and not something that takes away from its importance" I dont know how to explain it. I always get hate when I bash something, but I bash all things I love.
@@daSToneDTaNk The "please fondle my braless boobs" scene from Kizu is just retarded. Way too long, poorly written, and included purely for the sake of perversion. Usually the pervy moments are very short and include some interesting subtext or at least good humour, but in that case it's just tedious. Yeah, there is a point to the scene, and at first it's a little cute, but when you're 10 minutes or so into it you realise it's just drawn out, pointless and bad. Feels like they don't even have any respect for Hanekawa as a character, especially considering we already have those excessive pantyshots of her... If this show dished out it's perversion more sparingly and cleverly it would only be a plus.
@@surroundgatari That scene was... really bad. I didn't realize how bad it was when I first read it in the LN, but anime tends to amplify both the good and bad of a series. When I watched it in the movie it was definitely too long and had 0 purpose being there. If they actually banged and got together, then it would've had a purpose in letting the two consummate their feelings as horny teenagers, but that wasn't the case. The end result was meaningless fan service. Something I did notice is that the earlier Monogatari LNs are more unnecessarily perverted for the sake of fan service. And it shows in this particular scene, as well as the excessive amount of pointless fan service in Nisemonogatari. Then it died down somewhat as the series got more and more popular. Like Sodachi Oikura's arc was one I almost hated and was bored of since I didn't understand the character when I first watched it. It also had almost nothing to show for fan service so of course my small brain went 'I didn't enjoy this arc'. Literally 2 years later I had enough life experience to suddenly relate with her circumstances far better. And now she's one of my favorite characters. P.S. Haven't watched Zoku Owarimonogatari yet and am looking forward to that.
@@Freakattaker, I didn't like Owarimonogatari much at first, but once I finished it I realized it wasn't bad, and the same happened with Oikura. At first, I disliked her a lot, but once it ended and I saw she wasn't a bad person I started to like her more. And one year later I rewatched all Monogatari and she's a character I really like, and I can see now that Owarimonogatari is really good. Owarimonogatari Second Season became my second favourite season after the re-watch.
Darth Vader's would almost sound too cliché for my taste at this point though. Plus, Kaiki's would be easy to actually put in place; you just need one person playing the cello (edit : and a piano, I guess)
It's interesting that they brought up age when it came to Hitagi being confident she would stay with Araragi because in a live action, or more conventional story I would agree that Hitagi is just being hopeful. HOWEVER, in Monogatari I feel like most of the characters are people who are so true to their word that when they say something, you know they will do all they can to do what they want to do. It helps when some characters are so unambitious that they achieve their said "goals" quite easily since many times Hanekawa's and Sengoku's stated goals are quite limited compared to what they are likely truly capable of. Even so, they are still "true to their words", which is more than I can so about people in the real world.
{KS}BeAsT Man not to mention the chemistry between Araragi and Hanekawa's VA. It's crazy how everyone pretty much disagrees with how it went in canon lol.
Rewatching Monogatari now that I'm approaching 30, they're so right about how different my perspective is now, especially for the entire series. I really had a hard time sympathizing with Araragi throughout the series, even though I used to relate with him heavily. It's crazy. Kaiki's brand of maturity really hits hard.
Imagine how suprised I was when realized listening to the near-death gigle of Leonidas from the FGO anime adaptation that he shares his voice actor with Kaiki af all people.
i used to hate him back then, but after kizu released , i rewatched all the series and at the end of Koi i was like " wait, this guy isnt that bad actually" cuz the first time i watched the series i wasnt paying attention that much and took the story so roughly lmao xD
Spoilers for Musubimonogatari (unadapted off-season novel): I forgot that Kaiki totally called Hitagi and Koyomi's multiple break ups in college lmao. I guess it was kind of inevitable, but the ending of Musubi is amazing.
Haha, Kaiki calls it early BUT look at the lengths he goes to to even accept her request and he doesn't do it for her but for the responsibility he feels for Kanbaru (its his narration and he is a liar though.....) He also sold out Tsukihi for money lol...
What I find funny is the fact that Saito Chiwa was talking like a fanatic while Miki was there listening and nodding to all her long unwavered answers.

My favourite and best arc in the Monogatari series. Kaiki ascend to GOAT status in that arc.
Koi and neko shiro are my favorites EVER
Araragi's va has great chemistry with Hanekawa's va and Hitagi's va also has great chemistry with Kaiki's, va, this double ntr is breaking my heart
I always thought that this conflict also existed between their characters in the show as well.
Same thing happened on shinobu with her first generation
It's so realistic.

To think Senjougahara's VA likes Kaiki more than Araragi, this is amazing!
