it's me or every one of them shows some degree of their own character? i mean hitagi speaks clearly, tsubasa compliments him, nadeko talks quietly and repeats yes over and over, ouji becomes suddenly deep and koyomi is sporadically creepy
I love the idiosyncrasies of their voices. Yotsugi sounds like she's always in a state of wonder, Ougi sounds like she's trolling 24/7, Tsukihi is super deliberate about what she says, Kaiki sounds like someone you'd talk to at the bar, Nadeko sounds like a fluffy cloud, and Shinobu sounds like an opera singer.
Nadeko and Yotsugi's voices are also how they even sound in person. It is also good to see some of the VAs are really just how they think mentally in person too, they might've just got accustomed to their acting but it is still cool nonetheless.

Well, Hanazawa Kana also has quite a big voice range, she just most often get nominated for the cute shy small girl voice. If you listen to Hana's voice from Prison School and to Kanade from Angel Beats, I'd say thats quite a big difference. And yeah, I think she kinda talks in character here, maybe even just unconsciously, if you wanna hear her more natural voice try to look up "Hanazawa Kana, Hitori de dekiru Kana?"

Let's not forget that thanks to Nisio Isin, we got to see KanaHana as a villainess. This is what more than likely led to her being cast in much more diverse roles.

It's quite true though. When Bakemonogatari's cast list was first announced, Chiwa Saitou as her VA was definitely surprising. At that point in time, she was only known for supporting roles and childish type of character. I think her most famous role at that point was Natsumi from Sgt Keroro. So having Chiwa Saitou as Hitagi was definitely surprising. Another thing is that Marina Inoue DID fit Hitagi's image/voice at that point of time-- plus the fact that the chemistry between Kamiya and Inoue was quite apparent especially with their roles as Zetsubou-sensei and Chiri respectively. I was very much surprised that Inoue didn't have a role in monogatari till late on. Though, what Kamiya said is correct - - after Saitou voiced Kamiya, her voice role changed from cute to cool characters. Also, I was not a bit surprised Kana Asumi got the role since that time, they were pushing her with Sasami@ganbaranai

I only know the synopses so im not sure what part is backstory or whats the actual story but they were friends in college (thanks to hanekawa), she lives with him for a bit (which causes a breakup) and then shes in town afterwards as a civil servant, living in her old house that was abandoned. Shes involved in all of araragis breakups and makeups lol. Hanekawa comes back when shes considered a criminal, Tsukihi comes back at the same time, Karen lives with araragi and is also a cop, Kanbaru works at the hospital Ougi apparently resides in the classroom that doesnt exist at the school lol. Apparently. Then monster season actually takes place before Musubi when he first starts college. Deathtopia, Hitagi, Gaen, Kanbaru, a naked princess acerola, mayoi, ononoki, nadeko, and ougi are all there. As far as i can tell, Kaiki is the only girl who doesnt show up
I agree with Inoue Marina about Saito Chiwa getting the role of HItagi. Saito-san getting such role is really refreshing and a huge change in her variety of roles she can act, as she usually getting cute/chibi type roles. Two fine example of great role she played as are Sygin Erster (Break Blade) which has a fine lady (ojousama) feel, and Aida Riko (Kuroneko no Basuke) which is your typical spunky highschool girl type. Two totally different role types, yet deviates from her cute/chibi type roles.
hearing their voices without stress and pressure eluded from the anime is so satisfying, esp senjou-chan i feel like she's the most tensed and pent up character in the series
I loved how their conversations, like the one with Ougi VA, randomly just get extremely deep and meaningful at times. This is what the monogatari series turn you into, since the show is pretty damn philosophical.

After hearing this part, I realize now that those characters that try to explain how to do something by going like "You go like SWOOSH, and then BAM" might not be an exaggeration.

It's quite true though. When Bakemonogatari's cast list was first announced, Chiwa Saitou as her VA was definitely surprising. At that point in time, she was only known for supporting roles and childish type of character. I think her most famous role at that point was Natsumi from Sgt Keroro. So having Chiwa Saitou as Hitagi was definitely surprising.
Another thing is that Marina Inoue DID fit Hitagi's image/voice at that point of time-- plus the fact that the chemistry between Kamiya and Inoue was quite apparent especially with their roles as Zetsubou-sensei and Chiri respectively. I was very much surprised that Inoue didn't have a role in monogatari till late on. Though, what Kamiya said is correct - - after Saitou voiced Kamiya, her voice role changed from cute to cool characters.
Also, I was not a bit surprised Kana Asumi got the role since that time, they were pushing her with Sasami@ganbaranai

I only know the synopses so im not sure what part is backstory or whats the actual story but they were friends in college (thanks to hanekawa), she lives with him for a bit (which causes a breakup) and then shes in town afterwards as a civil servant, living in her old house that was abandoned. Shes involved in all of araragis breakups and makeups lol. Hanekawa comes back when shes considered a criminal, Tsukihi comes back at the same time, Karen lives with araragi and is also a cop, Kanbaru works at the hospital Ougi apparently resides in the classroom that doesnt exist at the school lol. Apparently. Then monster season actually takes place before Musubi when he first starts college. Deathtopia, Hitagi, Gaen, Kanbaru, a naked princess acerola, mayoi, ononoki, nadeko, and ougi are all there.
As far as i can tell, Kaiki is the only girl who doesnt show up

I agree with Inoue Marina about Saito Chiwa getting the role of HItagi.
Saito-san getting such role is really refreshing and a huge change in her variety of roles she can act, as she usually getting cute/chibi type roles. Two fine example of great role she played as are Sygin Erster (Break Blade) which has a fine lady (ojousama) feel, and Aida Riko (Kuroneko no Basuke) which is your typical spunky highschool girl type. Two totally different role types, yet deviates from her cute/chibi type roles.

I loved how their conversations, like the one with Ougi VA, randomly just get extremely deep and meaningful at times. This is what the monogatari series turn you into, since the show is pretty damn philosophical.
As someone interested in voice acting and who loves monogatari this is deeply interesting to me. Thank you for uploading this.
