Nice Joe. When Founders hits one out of the park, it’s usually a Grand Slam! I actually have a couple of the non barrel aged version of this beer in my cellar from 2016..and another 2 from 2020. This beer ages so well. Going to crack into one of my 2016’s this weekend. Your review motivated me, LOL 🍻
I had their breakfast stout on tap recently and it was pretty good. I stopped drinking their stuff years ago but I was like sure why not and didn't disappoint lol
I was working within an hour of GR when they released this the first time. It was on tap at the brewery only I believe. Best BA beer they ever did. Admittedly, not a very high bar but it was fantastic. I’ve not had a BA beer from them in years that actually tasted barrel aged. I’ve pretty much given up on Founders but would grab some of this if they made it again.
Definitely the best brew Founders has. I wonder if the fact that it’s small batch brewed and not released nationally has anything to do with it? It’s always been brewery only except for 2020 when they released it in 750ml bottles but only sent it to Michigan-based accounts. You’re 100% correct with the head. Bourbon County is flat and fizzy, and it apparently doesn’t have to be. Glad you finally got to try it. Happy Stoutmas 🍻
"This beer fuc&$!" That's my new favorite saying for 2024! I assume it's in reference to the HBO show Silicon Valley. If not, and you came up with that on your own, you are genius! Cheers!
This is number 1 on my bucket list. My favorite easily obtainable imperial stout was the base beer (why oh why did you stop brewing it Founders???). But I'm a sucker for bourbon barrel aged imperials and just knew this one would be fire. Your review says it all, seems like you need a cigarette and a nap after having one 🤣 KBS is so Meh, I never got the hype. Great review as always Joe. Enjoy the holidays.
this is...genuinely surprising lol. I live in Michigan and have largely just stopped buying founders beer for years now. that's wild this is good lol. never would've expected that. but that's dope and nice for nostalgia sake of what founders once was.
Yeah, they condition it on coffee and vanilla beans after taking it out of the barrels. I just drank a 2023, and both the coffee and vanilla are still prominent. I think Joe is referring to the base beer, which is just a Russian Imperial Stout with no adjuncts. He’s never had this one before, and he doesn’t research beers before he drinks them. 🍻
The issue Founders had a few years ago was apparently fixed. They got cancelled for a bit but it was mostly a couple assholes that gave the entire company a bad name.
Founders never disappoints me
KBS has let me down on several occasions 😬🍻

Yes!! Enjoy those! 🍻🍻

Last Breakfast Stout bottle I had was super fresh and it was a coffee BOMB. Good stuff 🍻

I wish I had so much more of this! 🍻
Joe---Lagunitas Willetized Stout is slammin too. Find some bottles a few years old and it's killer. I believe they are releasing more this year too.
You just reminded me that I need to find some! 🍻

You were the real life Santa with this one amigo!! Appreciate ya 🍻🙏🏼

Lol, I've never seen that show, but I'm sure it came from somewhere :) This beer indeed fucks.
The mothership series was beers they only released locally at the brewery I believe
Ahhhh that’s a bummer! More people need to drink this! 🍻
I bought a case when they released. Drank it all that winter. Good shit.
I’d do bad things for a case of this beer 😆🍻
@@derekwustman2559 wow, how much was a case?
@@FROGVET I don't recall exactly but if i had to guess it was $96. $16/4pack.
@derekwustman2559 Nice
This review makes me want to brew a big stout my next batch 🤔...also need to find this beer!
If you do, you know where to find volunteers to drink it! 😬

It’s worth seeking out. Not sure if they’ve made it sense March 2023, but I can confirm that vintage is still drinking great. 🍻
I def needed to fire up a lung dart post review 😆. Happy Holidays to you and yours my friend! 🍻
🍻🍫🍰🍻
Suuuuhhhhhh guuuuuuud

If you can get to the brewery next time they have it, you won’t be disappointed. It’s definitely worth seeking out. 🍻
Legit one of the best BA stouts in recent memory. Crazy good 🍻
I gotta see if I can find this my local Total wine in Vegas.
I think this is brewery only amigo. Gotta trade for it 😭
There are adjuncts according to Untappd

What are adjuncts?
That’s wild since it doesn’t show anything on the label. I feel bad now for the BCBS comparison since they’re not the same
lol no he doesn’t 😆😆😆
@@jsenigaglia if they wanted you to have that info, then they should list it on the label 🤷♂️

Glad to hear they took care of their issues 🍻
