    The Patriots alert can also be motioning someone in to block for extra run support, at least it was while Weiss was the OC.

    Before I watch this video, I'm going to guess based on what I've absorbed throughout my time learning football that an alert is a route that *might* break wide open against a particular coverage, and the QB has to check for the alert so they don't miss out on potential chunk plays.
    EDIT: I was mostly right! Kinda proud of that.

    Hey JT! I've followed your channel from the beginning, but I don't remember any question about the number of plays in an NFL playbook (probably you already talked about it and I missed that specific video or I lost concentration, who knows...).
    My question is this one: how many plays are there in a regular NFL playbook for one season? Can the coach call any play in any game or do they select a specific part of the playbook for each game? In that case, how many plays do they select for a game?
    I imagine that there could be a base package of plays for the whole season and a specific one related to the game in question, but I don't really know, cause I'm Spanish and I've never had the opportunity to play football or flag 😞
    Thank you for your videos, I learn a lot with you! 😊 All the best from Spain!

    Hey JT, could you do a segment on what you like as man beaters against cover 1 and cover 2 man under? What would be some routes you'd like to have dialed up if you're expecting man or match coverage? I'm guessing crossers like drive and shallow crosses, over routes, rub routes, double moves. Which routes do you think are best for getting open?

    Love the channel and has taught me so much when learning the game. I play QB in England for my university team, I am the back up and struggle to take the place of the starter who the coaches love. How in 1v1 and a few OvD snaps can I show my skills and improvement. I'm a taller player, the starter is small and fast, so I feel I have a different set of skills to offer. Any advice on how I can stand out on and off the field?

    J.T. I love your content. I feel as if i am ready to try out for a practice squad! Anyway I’m curious, What pre-snap reads does a QB make? Even after the QB gives a hard count & gets the defense to show what they’re doing?

    Thx JT!!! Can u also talk about passing lanes? I’m a RW3 fan and they talk about it all the time. I just imagine that having to deal with passing lanes limits the type of routes he can pass to. Am I understanding this correctly?

    Just finished my first year as an assistant HS coach. The offensive coordinator wants me to come up with concepts for the veer based offense we’ll be running. We will have a different QB for the 4th straight year and undersized, inexperienced O-Line. I was thinking lots of action based, rollout, quick read and west coast timing concepts (smash, levels, Shallow Cross) to get the ball out fast or let the qb run if the throw isn’t there. Any good tips/suggestions on what you think would be the best with a small line and 2 back veer system?

  • @sportsdudethethird7094

    Hey JT, thanks for the explanation. Got a question for you. Just say, for example, you were running the stick concept with a clear route, and pre-snap you are thinking the clear route isn’t a read at all, because it is Cover 2. But post-snap, if the defense rotates into like a Cover 1, and you like the one-on-one matchup, how would you “alert” the clear route AFTER the ball is snapped? Would the receiver still expect to have a chance to get the ball, rather than just running without looking to the QB because the receiver thinks he’s just a clear route? Maybe it might be easier to answer this in a video rather than typed-up answers, but your preference. Thanks for all the content you are doing 🔥

    • @TheQBSchool
      @TheQBSchool  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You throw it. They run their route. Although you better complete it. Most alerts are only vs premium looks. Late rotations usually aren’t premium.

    Hey JT, do you think that Brady is actually called the plays in the Bucs offense or do you think it's Arians and Leftwich. I think it's Arians and Leftwich because I don't think Brady would change his style that much. But Arians said that Brady calls the plays but I think he's lying to give himself a better look like he has been the whole season.

    • @ClavisRa
      @ClavisRa 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can see Brady look at his wrist band going into the huddle every time. If he's calling the play, what information is he getting from the wrist band?

    • @sierrachubbz128
      @sierrachubbz128 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ClavisRa ok but it doesn't seem like he would call those plays. It's so different from his play style. I was watching this other video and they said that they could tell when Brady was calling the plays. And a lot of people on insta said that they could tell too

    • @ClavisRa
      @ClavisRa 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sierrachubbz128 I agree. He's looking at the wristband to get the full play called into him from the sideline. If he's calling the play the wristband plays no part. Maybe when they run hurry up, which they never do, he's calling plays.

    • @sierrachubbz128
      @sierrachubbz128 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ClavisRa so when he looks at the wristband the coaches are calling the plays and when he doesn't then he's calling the plays?

    • @ClavisRa
      @ClavisRa 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sierrachubbz128 That's what I would expect, since I think the play comes in from the sideline in shorthand, then he checks it on the wristband for the details. When he calls the play he knows how he wants it run, or it's one they call with a single word, like when he was in NE, for hurry up.
