Aww thank you ☺️ yeah we think we get along quite nicely, that’s not to say we don’t have our moments lol but on a whole we are on the same page with most things. Which is quite handy!
Watching you carry all that equipment out of the shed reminds me how much time it takes just to prep for a job. It is a slow process but each bit you do looks fab! Well done Dawn!🎉
Thank you Sharon ☺️ oh yes there is so much needed to get this job done, it’s frustrating at times especially when you just want to get on and get it done. ❤️
Lovely to see Ben playing Tetris with his water tanks. I'm always fascinated by your water supply, as you know. Dawn, how wonderful you were able to go on the course! What a tremendous gift - that will keep on giving, possibly for centuries! It makes such a difference when you have the correct tools and someone has shown you how to use them. And now you can show us. 😉Speaking of equipment, I saw a hard hat and knee pads. So proud of you both. 😀 Dawn, that doorway is amazing. Possibly better than the original. Hearing Ben speak about insulating the tanks reminded me of you two spending so much time in the tent and the cold this past year. Now, you have a bed indoors, a roof, a stove, running water, and an indoor shower! It's like Claridge's if one of you can serve the other a tea tray in bed. You two deserve it.❤
Hahaha I think that’s what it felt like for him! Empty one to move another! They’re all lovely and sparkly clean now and we had a day of rain yesterday as well to top them back up. The course was amazing, to listen to someone with so much knowledge about everything that also excites you is brilliant. 🤩 I’ve read and watched so much but you can’t beat someone demonstrating it in real time and for you to be able to ask questions is so much better. Haha yes, equipment…I’ve been very good of late with the glasses and knee pad. I always hear your words when I’m about to do something that needs glasses! 🤓 Ooh claridges no less! Seriously though it is lovely to have a warm dry house now going into this winter! ❤️
Thank you very much 😊 I’ve really enjoyed learning how to do all of it. It’s a really satisfying feeling knowing you are saving something from falling down.
I have watched quite a few of these restorations and non of them work as hard as you two do. You got the most destroyed home and outbuildings and you don’t hesitate to do anything that needs done. You also had the most difficult land to work on. I also like that you both have the same sense of humour and laugh at the same things at the same time. I admire you both.❤
why waste a valuble outdoor space that can be used as a workshop etc by making it into a greenhouse, they have plenty of room in their garden to put a couple of greenhouses, & also the remains of a barn next to their currant workshop, where there isent very much left of it.. Just a few blocks of sandstone & fallen down walls with brambles & weeds growing all over it, I would get someone with a jcb or mini digger in to clear it all & then eventuly build a garage in that corner, so then i.d have a couple of workshop,s next to eachother, & a garage, & then try & also buy the other old stone barn that i think shouldve came with the house in the first place. & do something with it, but obvs,ly the house would need to come first, doing one room at a time until i got it all which way i wanted it, but for me, even with central heating, open fireplace,s are a must, in any house i live in, cos they alter the air that you breath, the chimneys mite draw in cold air from outside, & end up maybe costing a bit more to heat a house, but if you like to breath fresh air, then the chimneys in a house constantly take all the stale air out of a room & replace it with fresh air. Its why so many people today esp children, suffer from asthma, cos most peoples home.s are now all sealed up with chimneys blocked or sealed up, & double glazing everywhere, so they are constantly breathing the same old stale air in, cos obvs,ly there is no escape route & no air flow,
Although that is indeed a good idea and it would look lovely but we love the old barns the way they should look with red tin roof on. @michaelgoulding6609 I love how you have thought all of it through like you have and I love your vision for the place. There’s a slight debate on whether that other building that is next to our current workshop is ours or not too…so we shall see what the future brings but I most definitely love all of your thoughts on how to lay it all out around here. 100% with you on the closed chimneys issue. Since moving here we’ve had one of the chimneys uncapped and plan to get the remaining one uncapped too, so we will end up with 4 open chimneys and fingers crossed a wood burning stove in each to keep some general warmth going through the house throughout the year. In time I think we will radiators but for the time being the fireplaces will be our heat source.
Do you follow the Irish HOMESTEAD . They are doing just the same as you , are you near one another . Great work I love how you are both pulling together in everything , JAN X😊
It is so nice to see both of you again. Dawn, you're doing a nice job on the pointing and it was nice to hear about your class. Ben, thank you for explaining your water setup. I have wondered about using rain water. Sorry to hear about the loss of your father. My Deepest Sympathy. Looking forward to next weekend's video. Be safe.
So good to see you both getting back to "normal". Don't forget to leave your mark and the date somewhere on your outbuilding you should be very proud of all your hard work. See you next week XX
Haha it really has made a difference to my hair. I haven’t had to use a conditioner since we moved here and my skin is a lot less dry than it was before. Win win!
So happy to see you both again. Dawn your repointing is looking amazing and having the right tools help. Love and blessings as always to you both from Scotland xx
Great to see you back at it again. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that Dawn would be doing what she does when I started watching. I think I remember some uneasiness on the ladder or scaffolding lol. What a transformation. Love it.👍❤️
lol yeah I think it was the trestles, very wobbly but I’ve gotten used to them now. I’m not good at heights, I have too much of a vivid imagination of what could happen! 😂❤️
I've waited and waited for for you to start back rebuilding your barn, I love watching your progress and just how good it looks as you finish each section. ❤
So good to see you two back at it again - & a what great job, both of you! The pointing & repair work looks fantastic, & I know Ben's water system maintenance is the bread-&-butter of an off-grid operation like this. *I'll take my reply just in the form of a ❤, please - or in the form of a thought :)
Good for you Dawn taking the course. You learned a lot of valuable skills & you made contacts. With an old house you’ll always need something and knowing the right people or even knowing someone who knows the right person can make all the difference. Very kind of Ben’s Mom too. I wonder where that gigantic stone on the wall came from. Imagine the effort it took to get that in place. Wow. Great to see you both. Take care ✌️💚
Oh I really did, it’s always nice to see someone who knows what they’re doing with this sort of thing. So much easier to learn that way. You’re absolutely right with knowing the right people it makes everything that little bit easier when you’re unsure. Aww yes she said a while ago that I’d love to go on a course but they never seem to be local to us and she said “well, if one does come up, you get it booked and I’ll pay for you to go” and as luck would have it just a few weeks later I saw one posted on Facebook only about an hour away! Oh god, you can’t imagine how they managed to get some of these huge stones in place, ones a third of the size are heavy enough. It’s quite amazing really isn’t it? Good to “see” you too Trish 💚🥰
Good to see you both out in the pure Irish air…get the outside works tackled while we still have decent weather,we’ll have plenty of days ahead to work on the inside of the house. Great job as always..Dawn is loving that pointing, and what a great job she is doing….loads to get your teeth into, and once the render comes off the house…😉😆👍☘️
Absolutely love being outside, I think it’s where I’m the happiest 😂 it’s so peaceful with just the trees rustling as my soundtrack! ❤️ it’ll be good to get indoors and get some stuff done in there as well now the weather is turning day by day.
Dawn and Ben you’re so hard working . The improvements you have made the property is so different from your first video. Can’t wait for Sunday to see what you have done.
Fantastic Dawn and Ben to have you back working away getting plenty of jobs done before the weather gets nasty.Dawn what an inspiration for women going on a course on stonework .Ben's Mum is a very forward thinking lady to send you on the course. I can tell you learned a lot from it.Also I am sure you enjoyed it.Ben you are doing the small job's for winter but the very important ones to make life more comfortable for yourselves. Take care and God Bless you both xx. Sorry Ben I hope you're Mum's doing okay.
Hi Colette so sorry for the delay in replying. Yes, Ben's is doing alright thank you, adjusting but getting there. The course was very helpful to go on and gave me that little bit of a boost in confidence to get going with it all without as much fear as before! xxx
It wasn’t something we thought of just because of the structure being quite unstable but it would be definitely something I’d think about on a wall that hasn’t had so much damage caused by the Ivy.
@@thecornerhouseproject Hi dawn n ben ,hope you are both well ,yeah holiday was great ,veryyyy hot now bk to UK n bloomin yeuky n cold ,paul has a nasty cold, omg n real rough ,he seems etter today ,every day u get abit better dont u,hows olt buildin goin its amazing ,how ur rebuildin it all that awful ivy ,well done gettin it out ,may pop to hertford wetherspoons at 2 for a change then home to watch ur video ,hey isnt wcw rob n clare doin well ,nearly completed ,omg what alt htey ve done together ,keep safe n well love u 2 xxxxxx
Its a nice size building, in fact it's a lovely property in general! I should also add and it has to be said that you have shown great wisdom in your approach to restoring this home not withstanding the fact that I understand that neither of you have any experience in the building trade, it shows that good character always rises to the challenge and it is indeed inspiring to others!
What a lovely comment to read, thank you very much. No, no building trades here lol. Ben's in IT and I've been a delivery driver most of my working life but we do both have Dads that are pretty handy on the DIY front and I wonder if that's stood us in good stead for now?
I must say that rebuilding and pointing you did previously looked great Dawn, well done, and the next bit should look equally as good, It's nice to see Ben keeping up with his maintenance chores, with good spirits😁xxx❤❤
Hello Dawn & Ben. I am very happy to see them resuming that rhythm in the restoration work and in the day-to-day work. Very happy to feel, upon seeing and listening to you, that you are returning to life with your great motivations and hopes, with your personal determinations intact and returning, little by little, to the joy that characterizes you. Also, in the previous video, it was a pleasure to meet Mitch, we had a nice conversation in the comments, I hope you tell us about him and his progress from time to time. It was very nice to see you there helping him. Dawn amazed me today, and I'm not talking about her impeccable work with the stone walls; What a beautiful way to honor the family, in Ben's mother, who is so committed to your achievements, and to attend that course, in difficult times. Congratulations to both and the family. I'm going to start some work around the house this week, since my sister, my niece and my nephew are going to live here again in about 2 more months. Which makes me very happy. I hope you have a great week. A hug. Mario.
Hi Mario, so sorry for the huge delay in getting to your comment. We are slowly catching up with them all! We love reading your comments as they are so well thought out and it's almost like we can hear you saying the words you write, even though we don't know what you sound like, if you know what I mean? Anyway, Yes, Mitch is a lovely man, much like yourself and will take the time to have a well thought out conversation. He is very knowledgeable on so many subjects and we are very happy to have met via our channel and he has now become a good friend. You will be very pleased to hear that he now has a floor to that upper room that we helped with the joists. He quite often sends Ben photos of what he has been up to. Oh most definitely with the course, it was very important to Ben's mum that I attended as she knew how much and how long I had waited for a course to come up close by to where we live. It was a great way to learn the correct techniques and it has helped me so much with the work I have been doing on the outbuilding. Take care Mario and "see" you soon
Good to see you at it again! Dawn your masonrywork looks nice and so does the new pointing! You're really good at it! And Ben is busy with the watermanagement (that is what our king in the Netherlands has studied, so a royal task!). Have a good week and see you!
How wonderful that you were able to take a course in pointing. Love your new tools. The lime work you have done you can be proud of it looks professional! Nice to see you both smiling. Carry On! See you next Sunday. Big Hugs!!
Aww it really was a great opportunity and I learnt so much and it’s just made it so much easier to do the work with these different tools. That’s lovely praise coming from you and all that you know and have seen from your Dad. ❤️
It looks great! Well done, both. It sounds like the course has really helped your already impressive skill set Dawn. Ben,your patience and perseverance with those IBCs!! Brilliant, take care.
just a thought would it be better to take that whole section of wall down inner and outer skins which then would give you access to the tree root for removal then re-build ? if Dawn calls me names for suggesting that it's ok i have broad shoulders 😉
Haha well Tom, I think that’s what we will ultimately happen because after removing the fallen inner skin it’s looking more tricky than we thought to be able re stabilise it without taking it right down. 🫣😮💨 and like you say…..getting to that root will be sooo much easier from the other side!
Very exciting. It’s taken us a while to get to your comment so I’m almost done now and fingers crossed you will have seen that otherwise I’ve just spoiler alerted you! 🤣
Dawn, I still am going to keep suggesting that you get a mortar bag ( like a cone or large cake decorating bag) so you can squeeze a thinner mortar in between the stones and behind the stones. I really do think it would be easier and more solidify the walls! You do a great job and I know you know what you are doing , but just a suggestion. I never want you to finish now because I would miss watching you both and your wonderful home and grounds ! I can’t wait to see the next thing done but that just means it’s closer to being done😢🙋♀️
Wow Dawn, you really are starting to look like a professional. I’m glad there are still courses that teach this type of old construction. As you were stippling or hitting the mortar with the brush, I was thinking what a workout and a great way to release anger. LOL. Ben I appreciate your giving us good info on how to keep and use the ibc. I started looking into getting one or two to use for my veg garden after you talked about them last year. It’s still in the plans but for next season. I can’t believe it’s time again for you two to get things ready for winter again…boy how a year has flown by. See ya next week.
Oh my goodness yes this year has just disappeared on us too! Where did it go?! Hahaha yes that bashing the mortar is hard going, especially when you suffer with hot flashes! haha I have to keep stopping to cool down!
Good viewing of nice couple who really care and seem very loving. The cats are lovely too🥰🐾and being gingers allways been a favorite of mine❤️🐈⬛as had 2 in past. My dog Jack not cat lover so no kitties now. Best of luck with your home and cheering you on from Gippsland in Victoria Australia❤🦘😘👋🐾
Thank you very much. Aww yes we love the gingers too! We have had lots of cats in our life time but overall the gingers have that little bit of extra nuttiness that we love! 🥰 Thank you for watching and cheering us on 😊
Welcome back. This is another great video . Your dry stone is looking fabulous well done . The garden is taking shape slowly but be quick the rain by the bucket load is arriving
Welcome back guys and Ben jumps straight in. Hard hat is nice but what about toe protection and shin guards. Very impressed with that wall you repaired and the amount of Ivy yet to be removed. Very handy to have so many useful tools to help with things. Blue skies were very lucky to get working under before the big change that is coming. I bet the neighbours cannot believe in what you have achieved and looking so much better. Ben make Dawn a small ramp for getting the wheelbarrow out of the shed. OMG Spanking the wall with a purpose with the brush giving it a shape and looking good. I love to see Ben cleaning the outside tanks and making it look so easy and now looking so clean. Man of knowledge with all these ideas put into use. Very impressive video to watch.
The wall where you’ve been pointing looks so much better, it should make the barn more stable. Would you be able to drill a well on your property one day?
The workshop is coming along. It’s beginning to look more safe now. It looks like y’all are going about it the right way. In the beginning I was very concerned about it being safe to work on. How is Ben’s mom. Please send my condolences and to you too Ben and Dawn. For the ceiling over the staircase, have you thought about tongue and groove? It would look nice and you wouldn’t have to worry about plaster and paint. I am still enjoying watching your journey. From sunny Florida, just nana ❤️🪨🪨🪨🌳🌳🌳
I knew you would be all caught up Brenda as I do very late replies to all of your comments over the different videos. The wall is looking so strong now. Dawn spends so much time making sure any cavities are filled with stones and lime before pointing up the front. The videos make it look like she is just touching up the front of the stones, but a lot has been repaired as she has worked her way upwards. Mum is OK, she has been better Brenda but I have said you were asking after her. It is funny isn't it..... we don't really know each other but love extends beyond knowing people personally. We all live a life in exactly the same way no matter what we do in life, but sadness affects us all. Oh tongue and groove...... this is exactly what we will be doing. This will be done in all of the rooms as it was originally. Just having the breathable membrane in Lukas' bedroom has already made a difference to warmth, we can't wait to do the panels for the ceilings, they should be a game changer. Thank you as always Brenda and thank you so much for being a channel member :-)
Dawn that gable is coming along lovely. I wonder if as you go you will strengthen the stones below to be able to slowly remove the ivy on top. It's really going to look fabulous when it's done. Well jealous of your new tools, they look just the job and well done for doing a course, quite the pro now 😉
You guys are doing a great job on the walls and are brave to be pulling big stones from that inner wall. Just an FYI, they sell mortar bags, that look like big icing bags, for squeezing mortar between stones . They really come in handy. I hate the vines because they can literally ruin stone walls.
Tip 1 ; put the stones you pick out of the wall in the same sizes on the soil. It helps by building up the wall. Tip 2 .If you want a straight form for a stone, give it a few millimeter cut with a cutting machine and after that just hammer a couple of smashes and it'll break.
Thank you very much for the tips. I need to get in the habit of laying them down the way they went in. I do take lots of photos before I remove anything and that has been invaluable when repositioning them. 😊
Great work going on the two day course. Hard to beat getting the knowledge and getting contacts. An other week will get most of the gable wall done. Just keep going. I got my wall built but need to plaster it now. But now couod be next year as the weather couod start closing in now. Storm comming next week I hear. So maybe start a few inside jobs. There’s always something to be at as you know. Good luck both of you
Great to know about the course! I will have to look at up as I’ll be starting my pointing journey hopefully soon enough! Crazy how many roots there are and how much damage they do to the walls. Great to watch you guys fix the walls up another great ep :) also watched that ep of cheap Irish houses!
Yeah definitely worth attending one just for the confidence it gives you in having a go yourself. Keep an eye out on Facebook cottageology page that’s where I saw this one pop up. They seem to be down south more than around our area so I was really pleased to see one so close by.
You both are just amazing! Each week is testament to the expansion of your knowledge base and what you are accomplishing on your prop! It is wonderful to see the stone walls returning to their pristine state and the banishing of the ivy roots to the “scrap” heap! The tanks are looking clean and tidy and all of your effort will really improve the view from the lounge once you have an opportunity to sit there for more than five minutes…. Thank you so much for taking us along on your journey to make this piece of property truly a little piece of heaven on earth. Have a great week and look forward to seeing you both next Sunday.
Aww thank you Cristy. It does feel like we have learnt so much that nothing is a problem now. So far removed from the beginning! We’re so much looking forward to getting that barn fixed up and being able to use the storage space. No problem at all with bringing you along, it’s our pleasure and thank you for being there for it! ❤️
What a lovely relationship you two have. It’s nice to see a proper partnership. Making great progress.❤
Aww thank you ☺️ yeah we think we get along quite nicely, that’s not to say we don’t have our moments lol but on a whole we are on the same page with most things. Which is quite handy!
Vocês tem que ter muita paciência com essa reforma desse casarão boa sorte 👍👍👍🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷👏👏💪💪💪💪
Thank you very much 🤩

The prepping is a pain with every job. But it's worth it. You doing a good job Dawn.
ahhh it really is! pain in the proverbial at times!
The pointing looks fab - can’t believe the fill barrow of tree roots you removed ❤
It’s surprising just how much there was on there. So many different layers!
All your pointing is amazing. I showed my husband what you have done because I was amazed at how well you are restoring the falling down walls.😊
Thank you very much 😊 I’ve really enjoyed learning how to do all of it. It’s a really satisfying feeling knowing you are saving something from falling down.

Hey, heres an idea. Tha roofless barn, make it in to a greenhouse with glassroof and glassdoors.
Good idea!

It's never too late to learn something new, and you can have the peace of mind that you are doing it right.👍
It was a good course to go on, just see how it’s done properly to give me the peace of mind that I’m going to go at it the right way.
Dawne you are doing remarkably well. Can hardly tell there was a huge ivy in the cracks.
Its nuts to look at it now and think that's how it was. I watched an old video earlier on today and wow it looks so different now! 😮😍
Do you follow the Irish HOMESTEAD . They are doing just the same as you , are you near one another . Great work I love how you are both pulling together in everything , JAN X😊
We do follow them and yeah we’re not far at all from each other. We’ve been to visit them and they’ve been here a few times as well. Nice couple 😊
Dawn, your stonemasonry is beautiful! It must have been so rewarding to do that course. 🥰
Oh it really was, it gives you that little bit of confidence to push you forward a bit. It takes the doubts away. ❤️
It is so nice to see both of you again. Dawn, you're doing a nice job on the pointing and it was nice to hear about your class. Ben, thank you for explaining your water setup. Dawn in her element! Well done, great to see this happening. It will be such a relief to see this end wall more stable.
Loved this! So happy you are back. You are such hard working people.
So good to see you both getting back to "normal". Don't forget to leave your mark and the date somewhere on your outbuilding you should be very proud of all your hard work. See you next week XX
Ya! Another vid from the Corner House. Makes my weekend!
Yay! Glad to hear it 😉🥰
What a great job you've made of that wall 😊well done you ..
Thank you very much ❤️
With all that rainwater , that’s why Dawn has such beautiful shiny hair , best wishes JAN
Haha it really has made a difference to my hair. I haven’t had to use a conditioner since we moved here and my skin is a lot less dry than it was before. Win win!
So enjoying your adventure. Admiring your hard work and the wonderful results. Thank you for sharing!
So happy to see you both again. Dawn your repointing is looking amazing and having the right tools help. Love and blessings as always to you both from Scotland xx
Oh it really does, they’ve made such a difference. Wish I’d had them sooner 😂 but….better late than never xx
Great to see you back at it again. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that Dawn would be doing what she does when I started watching. I think I remember some uneasiness on the ladder or scaffolding lol. What a transformation. Love it.👍❤️

Such an act of love to save this dilapidated and abandoned gem. Bless you both ❤❤
You've come so far. I'm amazed at you both. 😊
Nice to see you again. Good work on the stone repair. It makes a huge difference when you have received some instruction from a pro.
It does make a big difference especially on the confidence side of it, it takes the doubts and fears away a treat!
Dawn you to great work with stones. It is amazing!
Beautiful work. It is so relaxing to watch. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for watching Wanda :-) Have a nice week.
Love how you showed how much equipment you have to get organized to get ready to start work.
It’s actually quite surprising just how much you need floating around when you do this sort of job.
So good to have you both back, I've missed you 😀
Aww thank you ☺️
I've waited and waited for for you to start back rebuilding your barn, I love watching your progress and just how good it looks as you finish each section. ❤
So good to see you two back at it again - & a what great job, both of you! The pointing & repair work looks fantastic, & I know Ben's water system maintenance is the bread-&-butter of an off-grid operation like this.

Impressive stone work, Dawn!
Thank you ❤️
Great new tools, Dawn. It makes all the difference.
It really does. The right tools is key to a less stressful job!

Oh god, you can’t imagine how they managed to get some of these huge stones in place, ones a third of the size are heavy enough. It’s quite amazing really isn’t it? Good to “see” you too Trish 💚🥰
I love watching you work on the old stone house
It’s a really lovely job to do, to see it start coming back to life again! Can’t wait until we can use it properly with a roof on! 😂
Lovely to see you back, getting stuck in, your work is really good.Glad to have you back Guys ,XX
Thanks Auntie Chris xxxx
That is beautiful pointing, my goodness, it is really coming along.
Thank you very much Luminya :-)
You both are doing a great job..
Thank you 🤩
Dawn and Ben you’re so hard working .
The course was very helpful to go on and gave me that little bit of a boost in confidence to get going with it all without as much fear as before! xxx
Good progress. Have you thought of burning the vines on the wall? 😊😊
It wasn’t something we thought of just because of the structure being quite unstable but it would be definitely something I’d think about on a wall that hasn’t had so much damage caused by the Ivy.
well done dawn n ben ,you are both determined to get on with it ,love watching you both xxxxx
Hi Diana thank you and so sorry for the delay in responding to you. Hope you’re doing well? How was the holiday? Xxx

So glad to see you back on and working on you lovely stone home and buildings. ❤
For me, rainwater is a lot more appealing than treated sewerage that we usually drink.
Oh yes us too! We love the fact that we shower in rainwater and I definitely notice the difference in my hair and skin feeling a lot healthier.
I must say that rebuilding and pointing you did previously looked great Dawn, well done, and the next bit should look equally as good, It's nice to see Ben keeping up with his maintenance chores, with good spirits😁xxx❤❤
Thanks Pa. Ben likes pottering around! xxxx
Well done both of you 😊
Thank you 🤩
@@thecornerhouseproject ❤️
When you can you should get a portable mic so we can hear what the other person is saying! Looking good you two! Well done
Rather embarrassingly, 🫣we do have a portable mic but we always forget to have it close to hand. We will try and remember in the future.
Love watching the pointing! Great job Dawn!
Great job on the out building wall you guys. I know it’s taking awhile but it’ll look great when you’re done!!
Pointing looking ace Dawn, good idea to do that course, will no doubt save you loads of time.
Thank you and yeah the course was great, really enjoyed it!
Good job Dawn, can't wait to see the progress next week.
It looks great! Well done, both. It sounds like the course has really helped your already impressive skill set Dawn. Ben,your patience and perseverance with those IBCs!! Brilliant, take care.
You are amazing. Did you ever think you’d become a Mason? : ). I admire your grit. 💖🌷🌷🌷. You deserve some pretty flowers.
Awww thank you for the pretty flowers, they’re beautiful! 😊 And no, I didn’t think that would ever be in my future! 😂
Dawn is the Stone Whisperer.
Hahaha I like it! ❤
just a thought would it be better to take that whole section of wall down inner and outer skins which then would give you access to the tree root for removal then re-build ? if Dawn calls me names for suggesting that it's ok i have broad shoulders 😉
Haha well Tom, I think that’s what we will ultimately happen because after removing the fallen inner skin it’s looking more tricky than we thought to be able re stabilise it without taking it right down. 🫣😮💨 and like you say…..getting to that root will be sooo much easier from the other side!
You are doing an amazing job good to see you both 😊
Well done guys and welcome to Ireland 🎉
Thank you very much! 💚
So exciting getting stuck back into this building. Your work looks so good.
Very exciting. It’s taken us a while to get to your comment so I’m almost done now and fingers crossed you will have seen that otherwise I’ve just spoiler alerted you! 🤣
Hi Ben and Dawn, it's so great to see you back at it and to see a new vlog. Amazing work as usual! 💪
Hi Shae and thank you 🤩
Enjoying your journey x
Very pleased to hear 😊
Yeah I have only just started watching enjoying your journey
Thank you for joining us Mandy and for subscribing :-)
Dawn, you must have been a stone wall builder in a past life. Incredible job, looks amazing!
🤣 maybe I was…I must say I really do enjoy it.
You've done an awesome. I live in refurb 300 year old rubble stone cottage, it's hard work but worth it in the end.
We are really enjoying it all. A bit of this done, a bit of that done. One day we will get there.
Thanks for commenting :-)
Dawn, I still am going to keep suggesting that you get a mortar bag ( like a cone or large cake decorating bag) so you can squeeze a thinner mortar in between the stones and behind the stones. I really do think it would be easier and more solidify the walls! You do a great job and I know you know what you are doing , but just a suggestion. I never want you to finish now because I would miss watching you both and your wonderful home and grounds ! I can’t wait to see the next thing done but that just means it’s closer to being done😢🙋♀️
I like the sounds of your stone work rather than music. 😊
It is quite a calming sound isn’t it? The tools against the stones.
Dawn - The wall looks great. The new tools are great. I have never come across a trowel like that.
Thank you 😊No, nor had I but they are great. They make it so much easier to get right in there with the mortar.
Dawn & Ben. Lovely vlog!
Thank you 🤩
Good viewing of nice couple who really care and seem very loving.
Thank you very much. Oh the rain arrived yesterday, it was a miserable day! Today much better though, sun again with the odd little shower. 😊
Thank you Simon. We've definitely learnt a lot of new skills since we moved over! It's great to be able to turn our hands to so many different things!
The wall where you’ve been pointing looks so much better, it should make the barn more stable. Would you be able to drill a well on your property one day?
We really hope so. There is a grant for that but it will need to be paid upfront first so maybe one day in the future we will be able to do that.
Take care and hugs from Cape Town.❤️
You too Neuton ❤️
The work you have done looks good!
Thank you very much indeed Susan :-)
So excited. I came in here and there you were!!! Missed you two.
Very interesting about the dishwasher tablet trick I will try that. Good work both of you.
It works very well 👌
Glad to see you're moving along. I had lost you temporarly. 🎉
Yeah we had a little time away but all back to “normal” now 😊
The workshop is coming along.
Well jealous of your new tools, they look just the job and well done for doing a course, quite the pro now 😉
The tools are great, make it a lot easier going with the varying sizes of them. Nearly finished on the wall…wow it’s taken some time! 🤣
Looks good on the corner, Dawn!
good going you guys
Glad you're back (and hard at it, as always) missed your videos! Takes a lot of work to get things back up to snuff, you two make an excellent team.
Aww nice to be back and back to work properly. It’s been a lovely couple of weeks of good weather which helps too!
Another great video Ben & Dawn!!
Thank you ❤️
I really appreciate your channel! I love how far you've come. Amazing!
Thank you very much and we’re very happy to hear that you like the channel too ❤️
You guys are doing a great job on the walls and are brave to be pulling big stones from that inner wall. Just an FYI, they sell mortar bags, that look like big icing bags, for squeezing mortar between stones . They really come in handy. I hate the vines because they can literally ruin stone walls.
I will look into one of those for any future jobs. We tried a mortar gun but didn't have much success with that.
I had been missing these wall reconstruction/repointing videos! 🩶🩶🩶
It’s nice to have got back to it ❤️
Great job as usual. The stone repairs are moving you forward! What-the sun I’d shining!! 😁😁
Ooh I know it was a lovely day! Now and again the sun does shine….not today though…today…rain! 😂
Great video folks, thanks for posting
I think you’ve both done a brilliant job on your projects! It’s always lovely to see you both 😊💚💚
The same to you too Amanda 💖💚
I love watching you do pointing. Crazy ! I know 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️😀😀🇨🇦🇨🇦
Haha not crazy in the slightest I too love watching videos of people doing it as well ❤️
That looks so good Dawn, you did an awesome job
Thank you very much ❤️
