10 years ago, in 2014 i bought a house nobody lived in, the owner had a girlfriend and lived with her, he had tried to sell the house for months, nobody wanted it, because the garden was like a forest, he eventually reduced the price significantly and i bought it, random people walked around on my estate picking berries and children played there all day, not realising i had moved in, for years i have improved the garden, chopped down more than 20 trees and removed several old flower beds, now, 10 years later people out on a Sunday stroll are passing my garden, stopping and looking at it, its like a park almost, im pretty pleased with myself
Yeah, but apparently not for decades has a finger been lifted to maintain upkeep, AND unless the lady has a plan, which I kinda suspect she doesn't, it all will be back looking the same in two years!
I can here to say that and I disagree with the comment about it being back like that. Sometimes it's hard to start or even plan when it's all overgrown like that. She's a single mother and works. Having time to clean out something like that probably seemed impossible. Now she can start small, clear some of the trash and make herself a little Oasis.
@@PinkPixie019 I agree. She certainly wanted to get that outdoor space back, but it was overwhelming for her. If you do not have the tools (but a pair of gardening scissors and a broken rake) - you certainly cannot deal with this. @@newblackdog7827 That's kind cruel to say. We have no idea her situation or what led to this. I should think there will be several more episodes to bring this back to how beautiful it obviously once was. Wonder if the original garden was her work? We don't know the ins and outs but as someone who's always struggled with weight, gardening always makes me feel like I'm helping me as well as my garden. Wonder if she'll read this because looks like she's a lot younger than me and it would really help her if she wanted it to😊 Hope we hear from the occupant, that your hard work will not go to waste and that she and her friends and family will enjoy the finished project, putting in the effort to keep it tidy and free of rubbish. The greenhouse will be very handy and she'll be able to have a very long washing line! I'll bet there are some viewers who would love a garden that size to care for and enjoy!
I was thinking the same as you regarding the weight issue. At the end when he asked her if she knew that the garden went so far back, she said yes, a long time. So this mess is not an inherited situation; she allowed it to happen. Getting out with some garden tools would solve two problems, right? and I dread to think what it will look like in a year or so.
Long time ago we bought a bungalow from an old lady. (Quick divert: she refused to take a gazumping offer because she wanted to sell to the nice young couple with the little boy so forever grateful to her for that). Anyway, we cut all the bushes back in the rear garden and I figure we doubled the size of the garden when we were done. It took 3 tipper van loads to dispose of the garden waste so a bit similar, but less, than this vid.
Now THAT is the beginning of an amazing transformation. I can't wait to see what it actually looks like when it's all uncovered. Great job so far.... it must be exciting to continue discovering more and more hidden space. Don't get sick now. Get a hot bath and rest up. ❤❤
No problem if it’s 2 or 10 segments! Your progress and expressions as you discover new things is very entertaining. I’d give it more thumbs up if I could. So I will within my comment 👍

WOW, GREAT CLEARING. GLAD to see that the Oregon Blade is being used in other countries. Thanks for helping others. Enjoy watching your videos. Keep up with your good work. Bless you and your family. ❤from Oregon State, USA.
Our garden has gotten so overgrown since my health declined. I used to cut a 50ft hedge with loppers and hand shears. We have fruit trees that are swamped with brambles, hedges that are full of ivy, brambles and briony, a rampant grape vine, fruit bushes that have disappeared and a greenhouse somewhere. That's just the back and side gardens, I won't talk about the front garden!
I'm the same! Was widowed and could just about cope until I tore my knee, 18 months later just had knee replacement, hopefully next year can get the garden under control!
I love to garden my dream garden would have everything you just mentioned. I'm going to be 60 but my health isn't the greatest either . I wish you lived by me I would love to help you . I try to help my neighbors now . One is my sister , she moved in my mom's house after Mom passed . I love it . But the neighbor next to her moved out . And I try to keep.the sidewalk weed eated and weeds cut down . My brother in law helped me cut a bunch of brush down. Just to get air flow going and try to keep bugs and mosquitoes down. I just didn't get done as much as I wanted too .
This is why when I have a little shred of health (and willing helpers) we are spending most of our gardening time making defensive gardens... raised stone beds with bulbs all around, hardscaping, iris up and down the fences to keep grass from clumping... it could all go to pot, but at least I give myself a fighting chance. :) Less work than before I started reading about fighting weeds this way, and I'm up against ivy, privet, Virginia creeper and vinca! I even planted some aggressive pollinators for my area -- the sort that go crazy during their season, but all die off in the winter. (Maypop) I think I am going to move some over to the ivy patch and see if they can hold their own against the evil who had nearly taken down the big trees in the backyard before I moved in!
@@SherrisewingroomI don't think we ever get as much done as we wanted. I have projects, like trying to exterminate thistles, that I start in spring, then it gets too hot, then fall goes too quick and it's winter again. Then there is the vegetable garden and composting, cutting wood for winter and just getting older. Arms or legs get injured and take months to heal or just don't.

It is really good for people and the neighborhood to regain order, space, function. Thank you for tackling a very difficult spot. It is o.k. to make series. You are uncovering more than anyone could guess. Doing well on mulching the waste, so it doesn't take up a lot of room. Ah, you were blowing-off the dirty pavement, which made me realize that another huge boost could come from power washing it. It would add a lot of brightness. Enjoyable as you figure out areas.
Thank goodness you have that blade attachment. I SO wanted to see that little Charlie Brown-looking Christmas tree up close. It’s so cute! How in the world does one stop brambles from coming back? What a nightmare!
This used to be a garden full of fun and enjoyment. Hopefully when you are done with it, it will bring fresh air and relaxing times to the residents again. Love the bird calls!

If it was anything else I'd not understand, but brambles grow so incredibly fast and are such a pain to cut down that they claim a lot of space even in just a few good summer months. Obviously this level of overgrowth has taken way more time than that, but once you let it get a hold it can feel overwhelming to tackle it, so you give up on some areas and it gets gradually worse. The same way as how some people can basically lose rooms in their house for years of clutter. There's often also some level of shame mixed in if you feel like you should have been able to do better. And of course the cost of hiring a professional can get beyond your reach too when it gets bad, or it already is to begin with for many people.
I hadn't thought of using the weed-eater on the plant debris. Quite clever. Much more manageable. Thank you for the tip. Look forward to the next segment.
I think the dinosaur 🦖 should feature in all your vids! That’s an epic clear up but you are just the right man for the job. I’m looking forward to see you bringing it back to life.❤
Good thing you have an Oregon blade it's super wicked on brambles and overgrown places. Hope you haven't given up on maintaining those beautiful English gardens. I love the information you pass along to viewers. Watching from Oregon, USA. ❤❤❤
Yes, I would love a secret garden! Wow this yarden is a lot of work. I love the intermittent chats, I love the smiles..you have a gorgeous smile and attitude. 🥰 Well, chop chop! 😅 Apparently brambles wait for no man! 😉
I can't believe what they found! That hidden garden behind the overgrown brambles was unbelievable! The look on her face when she saw it-priceless! What an amazing discovery for a single mother.
I have only just found your channel. Great work you do! My neighbour could really use the kind of help you provide. The brambles have infiltrated his conservatory, and the laurel and beech hedges are mature trees. His parents were keen gardeners, but his mental health issues have caused the garden to turn to a complete wilderness in the last 20 years. The foxes, owls and badgers love it, but as a direct neighbour it is really tough for us to deal with.
Wow, that different blade really made a difference! When the light broke through, it was amazing! That cleared part may have just been beyond her property line, not part of the house's parcel! Whatever, it was absolutely the worst of projects to undertake! Good job, many would have walked away! Enjoyed this video, subscribed to see more, thanks for sharing!
Such a kind and generous gesture. Thank you for being such an amazing group of individuals that confirm that there still are some fantastic people out there. Being a disabled woman and unfortunately a sufferer of mental illnesses too I can totally understand how difficult it is once a situation becomes really overwhelming for someone to deal with alone. Good Karma will always come back to help you when you need it most guys 💙
Great progress - what a jungle! Brambles and ivy are a complete pain to get rid of. I seem to have endless quantities of both this year! Congratulations on getting so much done even in the rain.
Great progress Alex! It felt a bit surreal.....it kept going and going. This is a fun one. Glad you can help this family. The bamboo is going to be a challenge. Stay safe.
That Oregon blade does a good job. I think I need to add one to my arsenal of tools (weed wacker, hand pruners, hedge trimmer, chainsaws and riding lawn mower) for the annual fight against acres of Himilayan blackberries.

Thanks God for that!!! I like watching your face when you discover something (like umbrella) and the others... 😂😅😊 Thank you, thank you, thank you! Well done Alex can’t wait to see how much further this garden goes I’m on the look out for a monster around my area If anyone needs some help we’d be happy to help someone like you home owner It’s great to be able to help the local community
As a gardener I’d love a little background on how long the garden went untended. Not to shame, but I think all of us wonder what would happen if we stopped the never-ending tasks of keeping nature at bay.
great fun and hard work. looks like you are going to end up like Ben and his mates from flawless cleaning. well done bless you and a tidal wave of clean up for the country and world wide. thank you
So Fing gratifying to watch a man passionate about his work. I live in the high mountains of New Mexico. Here we have to beg plants to grow. Not sure what’s worse over our under grown. We all have our challenges maintaining our gardens. Job well done. I need a massage it was exhausting watching you bring order to the garden. She must be so grateful for your editing. You are a good man!
I currently have an acre of brambles and nettles. We're clearing it in bits and so far we've got half of it done. The garden's in two parts and when we got one part of it done, we discovered 3 plums, twelve greengages, a cherry tree, and a chicken coop big enough for up to 20 chickens! That section's being turned into a kitchen garden.
We're all being poked into ever smaller, more expensive homes with space for parking (and even pavements!) a luxury - on the plus side, they are well insulated :)
Oh this is deceptively way bigger! The good thing is now she can get some of her laundry out to dry for now! So I watch Ben from Flawless Cleaning and Sid from Partridge Exterior and they both take on massive projects and sometimes it'll be multi part projects and I love those! I look forward to the next episode! ❤ (Is it possible to do an annual charity collaboration to help folks out and that video or series could be cross posted on all your guys channels? Just a thought!)
Oh I love rhododendrons and Tyrannosaurus Rex too, haha! I can't believe how far back this yard goes. Bless you when you sneezed! Hopefully the lady will get rid of the trash now and begin to enjoy this refreshed space - perhaps she'll buy a cheap lawnmower and keep the yard in shape and she can store the mower in the little shed!

I’m looking forward to see you bringing it back to life.❤
Aww thank you 🙏 😀 dino might make a appearance in the next video 💪
@@acreslawncare I think you should feel guilty for destroying the habitat of this exceptionally rare species! Joking apart, good work :)
Holy Hannah! That was amazing! ❤You’re right!❤It could be 10 parts!
Yay! Thank you!
What a fantastic job you have done.
🍎 🍒 🍓 🍏 🍇 🍊
Awesome job! That blade really does the job, along with your arms!! I hope you remove everything out of the no so secret part of the garden! ❤️🙏😎
It’s a fantastic bit of kit 💪
Hidden gold mine...hopefully the space can be used and enjoyed now 💚💚💚
She will have a nice sunny spot for a vege garden and help feed her family. Places, for, the kids to play. Nice job!!
I've never seen brambles like that, wow and the thorns you have to deal with. Great job so far and am sure it will look amazing when your done
Thank you! Cheers!
What a hard worker you are, well done. You deserve a medal.
Oh my goodness Alex. Brambles, brambles, brambles!! How long has it taken to get to that state? Well done Alex ! 🤩
Well, chop chop! 😅
Apparently brambles wait for no man! 😉
Wow. You must be super fit. What an amazing amount of hard work. No gym needed. Fantastic
Wow! What a jungle!! I'm looking forward to see what that back garden area looks like. Great job, lots of hard work. 👍
Thanks 👍
I am so looking forward to the garden reveal episodes. Thx for filming this and sharing it with us.
Goodness! So much to do! You'll conquer it and it will be lovely once again.
Big joy to see you help in hidden garden. I am from Finland old woman.
This is the most satisfying thing Ive watched for ages.
😀
Yikes! how did it get so bad? Never ending garden! So much bigger than it looked.
You've done a great job 👍😃
I LOVE how you refer to yourself as We!
We I kind of always have you the audience in my mind and feel that we are doing this for her x
Nature always takes over and eventually wins. Keeping nature back is a constant challenge.
Great progress - what a jungle! Brambles and ivy are a complete pain to get rid of. I seem to have endless quantities of both this year! Congratulations on getting so much done even in the rain.
Such a lucky lady! Someone so generous to help her out for free ❤. Wish I'd be as lucky as she...
Great progress Alex! It felt a bit surreal.....it kept going and going. This is a fun one. Glad you can help this family. The bamboo is going to be a challenge. Stay safe.
Amazing work!
Place for kids to play, beds for veggies and herbs, a real game changer.
Wow that is amazing and crazy to say the least! Glad you doing the hard dirty work good on ya !
Thanks 👍
Wow, that is so much beautiful garden space that was unused. They better be grateful for all your free work.
I think you were right when you said it would take 10 videos by the time you finish this yard😊. WOW!! That’s a huge job to finish
Wow, I'm coming along! I subscribed for the gleeful smile alone, and the landscape archeology is just the icing on the cake!
Welcome aboard! Thank you 🙏
That Oregon blade does a good job. I think I need to add one to my arsenal of tools (weed wacker, hand pruners, hedge trimmer, chainsaws and riding lawn mower) for the annual fight against acres of Himilayan blackberries.
😃 Good morning! Is early morning. I am in the bed with coffee and you make my day brighter 🔆. Usually I am watching the news 😢... I can't explain why I decided watching your video instead but.... Thanks God for that!!!
I like watching your face when you discover something (like umbrella) and the others... 😂😅😊 Thank you, thank you, thank you!
By the way I love garden and gardening and I will never let my garden looks this...
Good job!!!
Well done Alex can’t wait to see how much further this garden goes
I’m on the look out for a monster around my area
If anyone needs some help we’d be happy to help someone like you home owner
It’s great to be able to help the local community
I love this super overgrown transformation ❤ Great work🎉
I'm glad you like it 😀
Oh my goodness. That is one large garden. You made some really good headway today. Thank you for bringing us along. Good job. ❤
You found all sorts of good things behind those terrible brambles. excellent work and hard work. thanks. God bless.
As a gardener I’d love a little background on how long the garden went untended. Not to shame, but I think all of us wonder what would happen if we stopped the never-ending tasks of keeping nature at bay.
In post-apocalyptic shows nature takes over within about 20 years. Must be accurate, right?
2020?
As a gardener, I'd say this is what happens if you choose that 8 day holiday 😂
@ 🤣
That's at least 5 years
19:05 Bless you lol. Also, this is Astonishing!!! I love this! Well done getting through so much 😍
That’s insane! Can’t wait to see it back in order🎉🎉
Can't wait! 😀
You did an incredible job!!!❤❤❤ Amazing!
Bless you! "Do you guys hang your brambles out to dry?" Nope. But it's a thought. 🤣 Wow! That's what i'd call a secret garden.
You have done an absolutely amazing job, well done 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Thank you so much 😊
Great job can't wait for the next one thank you for sharing ❤😊
Thank you for watching:)
great fun and hard work. looks like you are going to end up like Ben and his mates from flawless cleaning. well done bless you and a tidal wave of clean up for the country and world wide. thank you
Ah thanks for your comment. Ben does some amazing stuff, if we could all just help out in some way the world would be an amazing place ,
So Fing gratifying to watch a man passionate about his work.
Those old council houses were great. Built properly with massive gardens. How housing estates shojld be today
Yep, new build have nothing,
We're all being poked into ever smaller, more expensive homes with space for parking (and even pavements!) a luxury - on the plus side, they are well insulated :)
Wow! Awesome job unveiling that much larger garden space! Good to see handsome men working hard.😮
(Is it possible to do an annual charity collaboration to help folks out and that video or series could be cross posted on all your guys channels? Just a thought!)
Wow. That's insane. Thank you for all that hard work!!
What a fantastic job, very satisfying
Thank you very much! 🙏
Love that attachment that eats through those brambles. Wow!
I love how much fun you’re having as you do this really awesome thing! ❤
