Whilst the Roam is a very good little speaker for my use (occasional use in the bathroom - maybe once a week), a lot of people on Sonos forums are very unhappy with the battery life when in standby.
I power my speaker off completely after every use so it only loses about 1% per day so is acceptable. It then uses about 10% per hour of steaming tunein radio via wifi so again that is what the figures say I should get.
The sound is a lot bigger than you'd think for such a small speaker and I had to take the bass down a few notches on mine to make it suitable for my ears, but that's easy to do in the app.
What is unacceptable in my opinion is the battery drain people are experiencing in standby mode. I suspect it gets woken up every time one of the other speakers in the house are used and so doesn't remain in sleep mode. Sonos should also try and put a button in the app where you can tell the Roam to turn off completely because the button on the back of the Roam to do this can be a bit fiddly and I worry about the long term life of it with me using this button twice every time I use the Roam.

Okay, this idea to have a shorter review is a brilliant idea. It can be a drag when a review is too long or short, and it’s great to have a review of both lengths!

I live in Sweden 🇸🇪 but really enjoy your channel with sound reviews of SONOS products. You are thorough, calm and objective even though you do make money from selling these products. And you all are very clear and easy to understand for me as a non-native English speaker.
I have been looking for a guide to pairing options though and I think you should make a video on this. What products can be paired with what as stereo pairs, as surrounds, add Sub to and possibly more useful combinations. Can you connect sub to a Roam stereo pair for instance? Does a pair of Ones + sub sound better than a pair of fives? I miss a comprehensive guide to this. And if anyone is suited to make one it’s you guys! Keep up the good work!

I tried setting two Sonos Roam in a stereo pair, and the sound was really amazing. On a desk, the soundstage was awesome, for both movies and music.
I would say it was quite “magical”…for the 10-15 minutes it lasted. It was so unreliable that I had to unpair them as it was not workable at all.
    Anyone experienced anything similar…?

@@smarthomesounds We purchased the Roam and brought it on vacation intending to use my Apple charger to charge the speaker, No Bueno, no music, no idea why, and the speaker sat unused for months and truthfully some negative thoughts about Sonos during that time for a faulty product. I own a Bar, beam, 2 Ones, 2 Fives, and a Sub so I'm a fan of their products. We eventually called customer service ( which has always been excellent ) and determined that the Apple charger doesn't have sufficient power to charge this speaker. It was dead due to no charge even though it sat on the Apple Cube charger ( overnight +) for MANY hours. I saw this review and you said basically to plug it into any charger. That is not true. Try using the Apple Cube and see what i mean. So, a better, more powerful charger was a inexpensive, easy fix it should be mentioned that it is an issue. do you know how many watts your charger puts out? I didn't.

Can I ask an off video topic question...... it you have an arc, 2 x one SL'a and sub, and the sonslos app says your putting out 7.1.... is that true 7.1 due to the arc functionality or still not true as you should have 2 more one SL's???

    • @grigorischaralampopoulos4999

Don't waste your money on this tiny speaker. They should have made it bigger as the sound is not that good. Its very glichy as well. I have the Sonos arc and 2 ones speakers i use for my home theater plus one of the Ikea Sonos speakers in another room. They all sound great! I bought the roam and added it to my group. It worked fine till i was using it outside and the battery died. Major problem getting it to join my Sonos app again. They want you to reboot your rougher to get it to work again. I'm not going through all that to get this thing to work again. I did get it to work again kind of. The blue tooth works fine but it was cutting in and out on wifi and i was 5 feet from my rougher. I put it back in the box and returned it. To many problems I'm not interested in fixing with this.

I have 2 Roams to replace my 2 +5 year old Bose Soundlink Micro. Sound quality is very similar and I found the Roam easier to add to Sonos ecosystem for whole house for extra sound in another room or for our two Beam 5.1.2 systems. None of the issues you experienced with your Roam. I found the Roam was very good for home use; but, the Bose worked better overall because of its smaller footprint, connected easier to any bluetooth device, big sound from small speaker, and built-in strap.
