    One extra step I advise as well is to reset the shifter cable. Put shifter in neutral, follow the shift cable in the engine bay and pop out the white linkage. Shift to 4th then re engage the white linkage. Helps if u experience any weird grinding or issues going into certain gears.

    Short shifter, shift cable bushings, and pedal spacer are mandatory upgrades IMO. Had em on my ST3 and made them the first mods on my RS about a week after I got home with it. Can't live without them. Highly recommend the Damond spacer as a middle ground between the too tall Accelatec and too short Mishimoto. I went with the Steeda shift plate both times and it's a PITA to install but cost effective and has shorter throws than any other plate. Any solid bushings will work but I've had bad experiences multiple times with JBR so I went Cobb both times.

    Heads up on using the hammer to reinstall the roll pin, it can cause the head of the pin to mushroom out a bit. try to use a softer material hammer, ie plastic or brass to avoid deformation.

    I have the same short shifter from mountune with the ford performance short shifter the notchy feed back is amazing you should def do it! Oh and if you can upgrade the bushings on the transmission bracket get rid of some of the slop they get over time 🤘

    I find shifter mods make almost any car better. The only stock shifter I’ve ever felt was perfect was the Honda S2000.

    I had a Focus ST and I upgraded to the Ford performance one with aluminum bushings from Mountune. they did all the work and even the Cobb access port. In my experience and using that short shifter, It was amazing!! I drove a Focus ST that had this shifter plate and I didn't like the feel of it, but I know everyone is different. Got rid of it and now I have an EVO X. Fun little cars tho.

      @@officialmew1127 wasn’t expecting that, lol but got a zero mile brand new trans thou in my ST.....at 135k miles (at time of repair) should of ordered the mountune fully built trans for 5k. Biggest thing that ran up that bill was the labor, the trans and clutch parts were only maybe $2k total but they wouldn’t swap for RS clutch and flywheel....which was a bummer.

    I appreciate your vids on the RS, as a fellow RS owner may I recommend one of the easiest and best mods? Hood strut kits , several brands but Whoosh has a kit for like 80 bucks. Makes working on the car so much easier and without the prop in the way

    • @greecoboost
      @greecoboost ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I bought that kit from Whoosh. While their kit is superior to the one from Ford and Redline Performance, they don't include any instructions with it for installation. I emailed them about that and they sent me a link to a video on here by Adam Rainey. To be fair, he does a good job explaining how to do the installation.

    While in there, should have done the shifter cable bushings. mountune, cobb and even some basic ones from amazon work for the cable end bushings. most of them are decent. also do the shifter plate bushings if not done already. i feel like the steeda are the best. i had a different set that didnt locate on the holes and would move a little. made shifting so much smoother and better feeling. almost like like there was a direct linkage into the transmission, as in a rwd car.
    instead of disassembling the airbox, i remove the maf sensor and the vacuum line and disconnect the middle section of the intake tubing from the lower section and then just pull out the entire lower section/airbox together.

    Idk why you would ever get a lighter than stock shift knob. Weighted shift knob increase effort required but are sought after because they increase feel allowing you to shift smoother and faster. It has just bugged me to keep hearing that it’s a lightweight shift knob when that is something you would not want lol

    • @CameronAlford

      With cars like this that have a cable for shifting I dislike heavier shift knobs because it makes it feel very mushy.
