I live in Bangkok, and trying to get a Grab in BKK can be challenging during peak and non-peak hours. Most cancelations are due to heavy traffic congestion or driver's receiving pick-up request that are more to their liking. If I don't feel like driving myself, I hire a limousine for the day and suck up the cost, which, compared to the same service in the US, is pennies. Thanks for the videos, especially those on Thai golf courses.
Hello, thanks for sharing! And yes, trying to get a Grab close to morning rush hour could be why no one would pick up. Or they just don't like going out to golf courses. In Hua Hin and Phuket, we rented a car and drove ourselves (definitely worth it!) Neither of us were comfortable driving in bkk 😂
I’ll be playing here next week can’t wait!!
PS: BOLT is better than Grab for rides IMO. 😊🍻🍻

Great video Shan, I was going to play this course but when my brother was visiting Thailand he looked at Siam Pattaya so end up plying there instead. Grab is a waste of time always far too many cancelation since switching to bolt not had a problem 😊
This was the other course I played with my wife. We had a taxi cancel on us late the night before an 8am pickup the next morning. Had to get to the concierge to get us one. Playing Drangons Fire tomorrow Yay!

Hi Shan. Hope all is well. I am looking into purchasing new golf clubs. I have heard PXG clubs are very good. I believe I saw in one of your videos where you said you recently bought clubs from PXG. I am a retired U.S. Marine living in San Antonio, Texas. May I ask, what clubs did you purchase? Does your boyfriend have PXGs too? If so, what set does he have? Without fear of sounding like the person who doesn't have issues getting Grab, the only problem i have had is maybe 5 different courses i have struggled getting a grab back into the city after the game, i play between 10 to 15 games a year in Bangkok. My only drama when i played Siam was the grab i was in got a flat tyre along Sukhumvit rd on the way there in the morning. I told him twice before he listened to me ha. I was helping change his wheel when another taxi stopped to see what was happening and then took me to the course no problem.

Also yes, that's why our driver offered to drive us back because it's a bit out of the way. They want to make money for the journey back into the city haha
I normally pay in Cash using Grab and have not problems getting drivers to pick up. One day, I decided to switch to credit card b/c I didn’t have change. I did manage to get driver in Pattaya who me that most drivers won’t pick up for credit card because Grab holds the money and pays out a smaller amount. So, if your settings are to pay by card, that would be a factor.
Oh interesting! Thank you for sharing I never thought of that, but makes sense. Also, unrelated but we had a grab once (not for golf, just around the city) and he tried to charge us the grab price + the meter price 😂😂 good try sir!
...the trees look quite young ... so not an obstacle at this point... but in a few years as they grow up will be more of a problem on the golf course... hehehe funny 😁

In 2023, I used a golf service to arrange my golf trip to Thailand which included hotel, rounds of golf and transportation. I made friends with my driver and got his WhatsApp contact information, so I used him again when I returned to Thailand. We negotiated a price for his transportation services before I landed in Bangkok. I’ll use him again when I return to Thailand in June 2024.
That's a great idea! The drivers that work with the golf trip services are usually really nice and speak a bit more English
Grab in Thailand is hit and miss. I use Grab from center of BKK to Golf courses monthly. But you need to book Grab SUV (more expensive option). If you book regular Grab car, forget about it. The problem is that Grab is taking 30-40% from the drivers.
Course looks in great condition but not as picturesque as most courses you have played in Thailand.

Why how far is it from your hotel to the course? Sometimes if it’s too far I think they tend to not accept. Or maybe traffic is really bad but I know it’s bad every where. Good thing you didn’t catch grab there and then not able to get a grab back
So green fees were 5,200 baht and that’s for before 7:30am? And you save 1,500 baht by teeing off after 7:30? Wow
Hi, Sorry! We actually paid 4,200 baht when we booked through GolfSavers months ago. Right NOW, it shows 5,200 baht greens fee. It's an expensive course!
Also, there is no discount for teeing up early. I've updated the description. :)
