Let's all be honest here, Ken is racings #1 Stud.Period! There will never be another racer like him again.. Thank you Ken for giving so much to the fans..
Can't agree more. First time that toughness came to my attention was when he pounded the wall in Daytona, had 2 black eyes and broken ribs and they asked him if he could run Sunday. Hell yes..
I'm from Australia, we don't follow NASCAR, as we have the V8 Supercars and our own hero's. But, I could listen to Kenny all day long, racing and beer stories from the deep south, I love it !!!!! Kenny is such a humble person, yet extremely quick witted and very funny. He is quietly hilarious 🍻🍺👍🙏
V8’s are badass! Used to get them here but not anymore. For several years I followed the whole season. Loved Bathurst of course, but one of my faves was Winton. Also enjoyed Ipswich quite a bit. Larko bit a a favorite especially when he’d get technical and show us strategy, or setups. Not a fan of Skaife.
@@cl604driver I agree, Mark Skaife was a whiney girl. Russell Ingall in a Ford used to just say things in the media to wind Skaifey, and Skaifey took it hook, line and sinker, made himself look like a dick. It's all about the racing and the personalities. Not much room to do that stuff anymore, unfortunately 😕
So i'd venture to guess most of you guys are longtime Nascar fans, but I'm a total noob. Grew up with my dad watching, but never payed attention (adhd sucks, just saying) so now i'm 37 and I'm going TOTALLY backwards with all this. Watching all these driver interviews and stories, and then I'm having to go back and watch races I can find to make sense of it all. Just wanted to throw that out there. Thanks for all the effort making these podcasts! Yall are probably doing more for the sport currently than you could ever realize. And to think my mom lived in Troutman and I had no idea how close i was to all of this!! (clarify: I, myself, did not live in troutman) but yeah, had no idea i was in the middle of nascar country out there haha!
Kenny's one hell of a driver and a man and giving these men a platform to discuss history of our great sport as they lived it is such a wonderful thing I for one thank you for this channel and the content!!!
Here is a funny story about Ken Schrader. A good friend of mine and mechanic was close friends with Ken Schrader back in his days of racing throughout the midwest. He told me a story of them all being in a van driving down the road to a track when Kenny literally got up from the driver seat and said, "I need a break." My friend grabbed the wheel from the passenger seat and had to keep it on the road. He seems like a great guy and someone who would be a blast to drink a beer with.
Schrader is a Racer...All American Guy...I tip my Hat to him... utmost respect... especially how he handled Dales Death... Totally Respect this Guy...and I've heard he use to party a little...lol He's A Legend
I kinda figured this would be my favorite episode, and y'all did not disappoint. My favorite part was his favorite peice of memorabilia. Hard to be as funny as Mr. Shrader and still be the most class guy in the sport. And of the Old School Racer's there were a lot of class acts.
Ken Schrader is by far my favorite and has my respect. Had it been any other driver that was first to arrive on the 3 car in Daytona I think what Kenny witnessed would have been told to the public. To this day he would only say he knew it was bad. The image in his head will never go away but yet he will not say exactly what he saw. He is a true friend to Dale and Dale Jr and those type friends are hard to come by.
Got to shake Kennys' hand at Louden in the pits. He's been my fav since '90. Was in the pits as part of Michael Stefanik's Modified crew. Kenny was on the way to the head. Very amicable meeting. Keep up you quest Ken, it fits you well.
There are probably only 4 or 5 Cup drivers total that I would really like to meet in person. Shrader is one of them. There's just something about him that is genuine.
Kenny is one cool bloke man, absolutely love him. He’s come to Canada 🇨🇦 a few times to Cayuga or Jukasa a few times to the 5/8th mike & so has Dale Earnhardt Sr.,Sterling Marlin,Ted Musgrave,Tony Stewart,Bobby Allison,Kenny Wallace etc to race agains’t a few Canadian greats such as Junior Hanley,Steve Robblee etc.
As friends with the Fortune family (Rose Bros. Sprint Car) I met him years ago. Nice feller, and a true racer. His interview on the Dale Jr. podcast is a must see ! Probably the best segment I have seen. BTW - A good friend of mine ran in the IMCA Modified division several years ago with some success. He told me racing against Schrader, that it was though he was on pavement and the others were on dirt because he was so smooth it was scary ! 😨
I still have a T-shirt with "Ken" Shrader in the Budweiser Chevy w,/ Bud Clydesdales on the back from like 1995 - this will always have a place in my Donny & Marie Footlocker- (i get it out every 10yrs or so) All kidding aside, this guy is one reason why people like me never missed a race- whether it's on the radio with Eli and Barney or with Gentleman Ned and Bennie Parsons and Bob Jenkins, Shrader was a Guy I could never root against-1st time i saw Kenny he was kickin Rick Mears' brother's rear end all over Pike's Peak in a off road race on the Calvacade on TNN - Schrader Nation C'mon!
One of my first diecast cars was that White #25. You can still read the number and there is a lot of paint off of it, but you can still read the number at least and there is still some paint on it.
Man, Kenny is one awesome dude. He's awesome not because he's awesome, but because he's like a family member. I don't get into celebrity worship or get awestruck, but I measure people in how much I would enjoy having a beer with and shooting the shit. Kenny seems like the kind of guy you can just hang out with, and have a good time. Drink a few beers, listen to some stories and talk cars and racing. He's living the American dream. Go Kenny!
That would be cool as hell- Ken Shrader is an American Icon to be treasured - I never get excited over anyone either- they shit behind a pair of boots like everyone else, and Shrader would be the first to agree- that's one of the reasons he's The Shit
Just looked it up. Broken drive line. All the issues they had getting someone in that third car kenny should have just stayed with hendrick. He could have very well stayed with that team until Jimmie came along
Annoying how they keep mention Tim Richmond like Kenny took over that ride one race after Tim's last or something. Kenny told them that Benny was in the car all the year before.
Just a legend and an all around great human being! Ken Schrader is the best!
Let's all be honest here, Ken is racings #1 Stud.Period! There will never be another racer like him again.. Thank you Ken for giving so much to the fans..

Love his answer about retiring and I still hope to see him in a few more cup races just for the hell of it. Kenny is a class act
One of my favorites...love Schrader.
He is an awesome guy!!! Love his interview on Dale Jr download there stories are amazing
What a class act.
Great interview, lots of good stories, would love to see one more run in a cup car.
Anybody else who’s been inactive racing, I’d be really hesitant for him to get in another car. But since he’s still racing … why not?
Ken Schrader , Dick Trickle and Ron Hornaday are amongst my favorites!
He's such a decent man. Respect.
I'm from Australia, we don't follow NASCAR, as we have the V8 Supercars and our own hero's.

Met Schrader on a few occasions and he is one of the nicest men I have ever met.
Kenny should have won 8 or 9 races in his winston cup career, if luck fell his way.

Love seeing this stuff about the olden days!!
I always appreciated Ken Schrader's humor...
21:05 Dale Jr and Kenny talk about "the greatest week ever" on Jr's podcast (quick TH-cam search and you'll find it). WELL worth listening to that!
Best Jr. Podcast I have seen 🙌

He is someone to drink with. I have done it several times in the skybox at bristol.
Awesome stuff. Schrader is so awesome to listen to.

Thanks Scene Vault - this is great - any drivers stories pre J. Gordon era is awesome - coming from a Dale Sr & Marcis fan - keep em coming
Old school Elliott fan, I agree
Great interview..if you got Darlington and Pocono on your list as tuffest to drive you got that right !
GREAT STUFF YOU ARE KEN SCHRADER
Wow, what a great interview, with a classy, and classic, NASCAR icon. Thank you!
I could listen to Kenny for hours, funny, smart, great competitor and full of knowledge
Seems like one of the best guys ever!
Ken Schrader is a gift to auto racing
Absolutely- Great American!
Got to shake Kennys' hand at Louden in the pits. He's been my fav since '90. Was in the pits as part of Michael Stefanik's Modified crew. Kenny was on the way to the head. Very amicable meeting. Keep up you quest Ken, it fits you well.
Enjoy seeing Ken Schrader at Anderson Speedway in Anderson, IN.
I heard he had the 2 seater here.
Best One Yet
He loved elmo!!
There are probably only 4 or 5 Cup drivers total that I would really like to meet in person. Shrader is one of them. There's just something about him that is genuine.
10:04 I wonder if Hendricks ever asked Larson that?

5/8th Mile I meant lol

In the mid ninties I got to see Kenny run a IMCA modified at Webster City IA. He was pretty cool
I still have a T-shirt with
"Ken" Shrader in the Budweiser Chevy w,/ Bud Clydesdales on the back from like 1995 - this will always have a place in my Donny & Marie Footlocker- (i get it out every 10yrs or so)

Ken Schrader number 25 Kodiak Chevrolet Lumina from the early 90s era Ken was a cool cat 😂 🏁
One of my first diecast cars was that White #25. You can still read the number and there is a lot of paint off of it, but you can still read the number at least and there is still some paint on it.
Ken to me was the nicest person and so easy to like, Dale Sr tickling his nose as he napped was hilarious
Not a Chevy fan but always pulled for Kenny.Seems like a hell of a guy to have a beer or 6 with.
Man, Kenny is one awesome dude. He's awesome not because he's awesome, but because he's like a family member. Keep driving until you don't want to anymore
Shrader is a true warrior "live by the sword die by the sword"
You one cool dude Ken Schrader👍👍👍
I have a jacket signed by him and his wife and alot of die cast
well now im going to have to look up 1996 The Bud At The Glen and see what was the final straw of kenny quitting hendrick
Just looked it up. Broken drive line. All the issues they had getting someone in that third car kenny should have just stayed with hendrick. He could have very well stayed with that team until Jimmie came along
50 years on raceing gas😅😅
730 subs?!?!?!
He is a great driver but he may be a better comedian. Wish I could spend a week on the road like junior. Change your life right there ..
Kenny come back to the Oxford 250 again
Annoying how they keep mention Tim Richmond like Kenny took over that ride one race after Tim's last or something. Kenny told them that Benny was in the car all the year before.
But very respectful about Tim Richman he's a class act and always has been hands down Ken has always been one of my favorites
