i was firmly in the vodka camp until i turned (about) 40. i frowned at most "colored" alcohols (whisky, brandy, cognac, metaxa, you name it). i might have a gin and tonic now and then, or a shot of tequila, but vodka was The Alcohol for me, as far as the strong ones go. but then something clicked and i appreciated whisky. maybe it comes with age or being a dad, dunno. the advantages of whisky in my view: * you can drink it by yourself and it doesn't look bad or weird (downing shots of vodka kind of does) * whisky doesn't need to be chilled at all (in fact, it shouldn't, while vodka is best cold - it shouldn't be frozen, but room temperature is a bit high) * the world of whisky is much more diverse - the taste range is very large. of course you can mix vodka with whatever, but i like my drinks neat, and it doesn't count anyway, since it's no longer just vodka. * surprisingly, i found the hangovers from whisky much more bearable. this is contrary to common wisdom, and i believe there's even some biochemical explanation why whisky is actually more difficult to metabolize. i think it may have to do with me buying whisky of better quality than vodka (clearly more expensive, that's for sure). * vodka puts me in a more nasty mood (i don't believe this is inherent to the type of alcohol, but i think there's something about the high pace of drinking that vodka, and its culture, kind of encourages). the advantages of vodka: * i believe it's a bit better if you're cutting weight (while not generally recommended either, healthwise - but that's obvious) * it's cheaper on average * it's better paired with food (whisky has quite "opinionated" taste, i can't really imagine drinking it with dinner) * there's less douchebaggery associated with vodka * if you're Slavic like me (maybe Scandinavians feel that way too, i don't know), it has the "self-identity cultivation" going for it :)
Never knew whiskey was more popular. I'd say in my country with my age group, vodka is far more popular. (I prefer whisky tho) Ah yeah said at the end how vodka is more like utilitarian,I guess that's why
A good whiskey doesn't need a a fizzy mixer (Coke), you could enjoy the taste of a good single malt just as it is, no ice or Coke or anything... Of course you also need a proper tasting glass as a snifter, or a Glencairne, or a copita glass.
Vodka is made from potatoes, yet Whiskey(possibly) comes from Ireland, the country most associated with the potato in the western world. We cook potatoes 50 different ways here in Ireland but making alcohol from it is absurd lol.
I imagine lots of people in lots of countries discovered whisk(e)y individually. I do know the oldest whiskey on my shelf in bushmills. But it’s nowhere near as nice as mr Johnny Walker.
vodka is made from either potatoes or rye. anyway, you can make alcohol from pretty much anything: grapes (wine, cognac, grappa), rice (sake), sugarcane (rum), agave (tequila), corn, beets, you name it. what's so absurd about potatoes in particular? all nations use what they have.
Always preferred whiskey it's smooth but stronger tasting as for mixing nothing goes better with coke than Whiskey. For shots though Even though it isn't the topic of discussion Tequila is the best
Whiskey I can drink straight and actually appreciate the taste. As for mixing it’s way better than vodka but I prefer rum because it’s just that little bit sweeter.
The best vodka is Smirnoff vodka because it’s non communist vodka. It’s imperial. The guy that started Smirnoff fled Russia in 1917 to escape the Bolshevik revolution. He moved to Fife in Scotland and made his magical juice. It’s what the british drank during the Cold War.
you really think such facts have any impact on the present time apart from making a good story. Smirnoff is owned by an international corporation based in the UK. it has absolutely nothing in common with how it started out a hundred years ago.
Well Pieter I don't drink whiskey at all... Makes me sick the moment I swallows it...vodka... I tend to enjoy Smirnoff on the rocks sometimes mix it with sprite
Водка чище без побочных вредных примесей, которых очень много в виски за счёт худшей фильтрации. Так что все что вы тут говорите, полная еранда. Вам просто нравится виски больше, вот и все
whisky and vodka typically have the same amount of alcohol (around 40%). some whiskies are stronger - i've recently had Scotch that had 45.8% (called Waterproof - affordable but very decent blended malt). if either vodka or whisky feels too strong, you don't have to drink them neat, it's not for everyone.
your mental image of the world must be kind of like one of those "the world according to Americans" memes with captioned maps, am i right :) the "vodka belt" is much larger than you think. vodka is big in pretty much all of the Slavic world, not just Russia. and also in Scandinavia. top quality vodka is being produced in countries like France, even though they're not historically associated with this liquor. it might also surprise you that vodka edges whisky out in terms of sales even in the US. according to Forbes, it was respectively 74 vs 69 million cases sold in 2019. personally i like both, and i don't believe popularity is necessarily a measure of quality (McDonald's being famous all over the world doesn't mean it's best food, same with Justin Bieber). but that's another story - if popularity is what speaks to you, then there you are.
Whiskey - Tastes stronger
Vodka - Is stronger
😂💯
@@jayadityathakur007 harusnya sama aja bang, cuma bedanya Vodka lebih strong, kalo whiskey rasanya emang enak
80 proof is 80 proof, no?
4:32 cmon man... what is wrong with drinking vodka straight?
*Vodka + Any Juice and Weed = Pure Happiness*
_Yes i need weed and alcohol to be happy, your judgement will not be interesting in any way_
Me too LMAO it gives a psychedelic like vibe
Ay man, to each his own who doesn’t like to smoke some bud from time to time much love✌️......
everyone who's ever drank and smoked, knows that's the best combination. That's the only proper way to get faded... whiskey tastes like fuckin cologne
Forgot the sniff
Lmao so true, I use soda/fizzi instead of juice though. You end up feeling confident, talkative and giggly
Love both 😂

It's not a fair comparison. Whiskey is aged in oak barrels for years. Vodka is aged in the bottle you bought it in.
I like the taste of whiskey
Once to start taking fine whiskeys, you start to appreciate a lot of things in life including the craftsmanship of making fine whiskey.
Never knew whiskey was more popular. I'd say in my country with my age group, vodka is far more popular. (I prefer whisky tho)
Ah yeah said at the end how vodka is more like utilitarian,I guess that's why
Which will give more high..whiskey or vodka ?
Guess vodka wins
What if I mix them both in one glass
Just became a vodka person today

At least with whiskey I can taste it.
Vodka + Whiskey = Oolong tea

Vodka can't give you an hangover, has no sulfates and is according to the w.h.o healthier than dark spirits
