    We are a bit late to comment, as have only just found your channel.
    Great , down to earth production, well done.
    We have a 2005 100 series landcruiser (higher carrying capacity) plus the extra heavy duty rear springs to give us the 3750 gvm .
    Can't remember the gcm but we tow a 22ft 6 Jayco Starcraft outback (around 2700 kg) plus food, water, clothes, and 400 AH lithium batteries. Over the weighbridge it came in at 3250 kg.
    It does have the independent suspension, but only coils and not airbag.
    Tows really good on rough corrugated roads but would change to disc brakes, because the dust and stones ware the drums too quickly.
    We average from 18- 22 litres per 100 km depending on wind direction.
    The straight 6 in the 100 series is bullet proof to 800,000 km provided the timing belt and tensioner are done every 150,000 km.
    I'm a mechanic, and I change the oil every 10,000 with full synthetic.
    The 100 series can be ramped up in power with bigger turbo and injectors plus intercooler and exhaust (timing of course)
    A lot of young guy's have already done these mods and just can't break them.
    This is the HDT fte motor of course with the bigger brakes on the VX and Sahara.
    The auto is stronger on the 2000-2002 models but weigh a bit more.
    They beef up the later auto box , when you want over 200 kw.
    Hope this helps.

    We have the same car and I can highly recommend the OCAM tow mirrors, have had clearview and not worth the $$ and constant dramas we had with them!
    Also 100% aluminium tray and canopy helps those rear axle loads 👌
    Love the Vid's ✌️

      Thanks for the suggestion on the mirrors 🤙 great to know!
      If we don't change vehicles we will definately be looking at the tray and canopy 😁

    All of those vehicles will be around 10-12lL/h more than what you have, dont let the 200 fanboys try and tell you otherwise. Both Y62 and 200 pretty stock will serve you well as Y62 stock is very capable even more than a 200 (real word experience) and both are same on fuel is close to stock but Y62 votes better also. Both will be around 20-28L/h head winds etc pushes that up to the high 20’s mark but so stable on road towing as car is heavier than the van. Good luck and enjoying your content, just came across your Gibb series and loved it. Cheers

    Forget the 100 series, they're a great offroad vehicle and a great tow vehicle but not both, the payload of only 605kg-odd is quickly eaten with a few offroad accessories if you're that way inclined - drawers, winch fridge/battery (they have 2 batteries but they're both start batteries), and passengers with loose change in their pockets. I just weighed mine, 3260gvm and weighs 3120 without the missus and her handbag. No boat, roof racks, awning etc but the drawers are full of handy handy stuff that won't fit in the van even if they didn't exceed the van atm. Pretty well any ballweight will put us over gvm.

      Thanks Greg for the info, wife's handbags are quite heavy aren't they 🤣🤣

    Excellent video. My work has just become a Franklin dealer and we got our first display vans yesterday, both Cores 196DB and 200. So impressed with them that I'm definitely considering buying one 😊 This video has helped me decide for sure.
    How hard was it to get the ATM upgrade? And did you need to change anything rego wise for the underslung upgrade? I'm in nsw probably different in each state I suppose.

    • @fivedownunder
      @fivedownunder  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awww wow that's amazing! Yea we have been very impressed with the van, especially for where we take it 😍
      The ATM upgrade was easy, an engineer just looked over it, and with no modifications we were able to increase it 😊 Yea in QLD we had to get the engineer to sign off on it and a blue plate put on the draw bar 😁

  • @stevemc2009
    @stevemc2009 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video again!
    Can I ask what was involved in getting the GTM upgraded on the Franklin and how much extra it gave you and what it set you back?
    Cheers

    • @fivedownunder
      @fivedownunder  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Steve! Thankyou 😄
      We took it to a vehicle engineer and he was able to get the GTM from 2714 to 2750 and the ATM from 2860 to 3050 with no modifications at all, from memory it was about $500 from memory 😁
      We can take it up to 3150 GTM and 3500 ATM if we upgrade the brakes to 12 inch and also change the axels. So that's something for us to think about if we keep the van 😄

    Great video. We also have the 215 core and looking at lifting similar to you. What size tyre did you upgrade too and was the tyre size updated on mod plate? How are you also finding the ecolander AT tyres? Cheers

    • @fivedownunder
      @fivedownunder  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thankyou Matthew 😄😄 We changed 235 75 15 and yes was changed on the mod plate. So far haven't had any dramas with them, on or off road, we are doing The Gibb at the moment so this will be a big test for them 🤣😅 Check out our daily episodes to see how our Franklin goes 😉
      Thanks for watching Matthew 🤙

    Run ext cord thru floor to outside 240v input plug to get inverter to all PowerPoints. Instant hot water will still have some cold in pipes between heater and tap our van has heater in ensuite which is better than our last where it was at opposite end of van to taps. Love ya vids 😊

    We are in the process of building for a lap.
    For us we couldnt afford anything with a Toyota badge new (we wanted new as of gcm upgrades which need to be done pre registration) for us we have gone for a next gen new ranger with 7.2t gcm upgrade with full setup for less than a half decent 200. I heard that weights on 200 with a offroad van arent good unless you do a gcm upgrade with lovells.

    • @fivedownunder
      @fivedownunder  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Joshua 😁 Yea whichever car we get we will need a GCM upgrade if we were to change the van to an offroad 🤙

    • @joshuapattenden7636
      @joshuapattenden7636 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Feel free to fact check my understand but I understood that although you can do a gcm upgrade in Vic post rego, other states do not accept the gcm upgrade and go by the original weights, so needs to be done pre rego. Gvm upgrades are permitted in all states post rego.
      This is why we are going ranger as we want a gcm upgrade and thus need new

  • @adriancassidy1010
    @adriancassidy1010 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’ve got the 200 series, awesome car with so much power but you will need to do a gvm and maybe a gcm upgrade to tow a heavier van and boat. I’ve just dove the Lovells 4200kg upgrade (post rego) and the ride is very rough compared to the stock suspension.
