    I don't consider myself an expert on the Tolkien lore by no means, but I would say I know a fair deal of it. That being said, with this video you taught me something I had always wondered but never knew: who the statues of Argonath were depicting. I had always just assumed it was just some of the kings of old whose names had passed from memory.. Thanks for passing on your wisdom in these videos. I greatly look forward to your part 2 :)

    The pelennor was an empty field but the movie missed farms and fields and the rammas echor or the black first ring of minas tirith... and then i listened to the documemention of the making of and they say how they paid attention so pelennor is as true to the books as possible ??? Eventually it inspired me to make a 3d rendering on my vision of the pelennor

    Awesome video Yoystan Gondor honestly is one of my most favorite Kingdoms of Men in all of Tolkien's works and in Fantasy and Literature and thanks so much for making this video about it I find it so sad that Gondor one of the last true kingdoms of Middle Earth and one of the last descendent kingdoms of Numenor slowly had begun to fall into corruption and Chaos but of course ever so is the nature of Man ever since Morgoth tainted almost all of Arda before The First Age and The Awakening of Men anyway loved this video can't wait for the next one and for my question for the Q&A is

    Got a question for you. How did the One Ring or Ring of Power end up in the river where it was discovered by Smeegels' brother and ultimately end up in his hands.

    • @MenoftheWest
      @MenoftheWest  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      christopher holladay Great question! When Isildur was fleeing from Orcs near the Gladden Fields, he put the One Ring on and tried to swim across the Anduin River. The Ring fell off and Isildur was relieved of his burden. When he hit a shore, he was shot by orc arrows. This is roughly the place, if not slightly upriver to the place where the Hobbit Stoors would settle for a time, so while fishing Déagol found the One Ring and thus it came into Sméagol’s hands

    At the time of the War of the Ring Gondor had already been more or less constantly in war against the East for unbelievable 3000 years. Imagine what kind of special culture and no-bullshit life the Gondorians under Denethor II neccessary must have had in such a harsh reality.

  • @doch1228

    Can you explain why Bilbo was able to understand the Spider Queen and her young , while they captured the dwarves and wrapped them in silk webs. I know he wore the ring, do you think that because the ring was forged in evil , it so gave the bearer , the ability to understand dark creatures & magic?

    • @MenoftheWest
      @MenoftheWest  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      christopher holladay That’s a great question! I think the Ring did give him the ability to understand this evil speech as the Ring was evil and its powers weren’t as defined in the Hobbit. It’s also possible that the One Ring has this specific affect on Bilbo as the abilities of each wearer differed. So it’s possible he could understand other languages with it whereas others couldn’t because Bilbo is a linguist of sorts. That would be my guess at least!

    • @doch1228
      @doch1228 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Men of the West , that was my thinking as well, would love to find out what abilities each ring had on it's bearers, and was this the cause to make a few of them paranoid and corrupt?

    Q&A: Will Amazon TV LOTR series cover Similarlion. Is it worth it or too complex?

    Hey, could you create a video on fortresses and ancient strongholds of middle earth? Who created them, when were they bulit, what led to their downfall, and battles/heros involved with said falls.

    Personal question: out of the movies which is your favorite(hobbit+Lotr)/out of the books which is your favorite (hobbit+Lotr)

      Hidan Rituals Great question! Favorite movie and book both have to be The Return of the King. The speeches and character moments are so incredible. How about yourself?

    It would be cool to see the second age of middle earth in the movies and the first age.

    Awesome video, man, as usual, I really enjoy what you do but I still feel that your pronunctiation of the names could use some improvement.

    And all this time I thought the Argonath was Elendil and Isildur. Its little nuances like this as to why I think Tolkien lore is the best!
