I have watched a million TH-cam golf instructors and you are on the upper tier of the elites, everything you teach has done wonders for me, many thanks sir🎉
If the coaching isn’t positively influencing contact, speed, direction or any combination, then it’s just window dressing! The fact that I’m getting so many comments from golfers that have watched my videos and gotten amazing ‘results’ is awesome!! Well done, and welcome aboard the swing revolution! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻🙌🏻
I've watched your videos, Andrew, for sometime now and always find them helpful but this one is so comprehensive in divining the essence of the golf swing. Using the driver serves to highlight key aspects applicable to every club in the bag . If I had to take only one golf teaching video to that desert island, this would be it. (Just hope the island has a golf course.) Well done Steve
Thanks heaps best TH-cam instruction I have ever watched my game has improved and ball striking is mint. Enjoying my game so much more after your instruction
That’s awesome to hear!!! I’m so glad that you’ve found YOUR swing, not THE swing!!! Nothing better than finding a swing that works best for you!! Keep up the great work and welcome aboard sir! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Great instruction. I just had an attack of the transition spins yesterday. Everything pull hooked left. This will sort me out. Cant wait to get back on the course.
Hey Andrew wanted to take a minute to check in again on the importance of your teaching which as a reminder is same as my coach is teaching me. I’m 50 with an athletic background, in my 30’s with the stiff lead arm strong lower body delivery my driver SS was 110-114. The last 5 years it’s been sitting at 84-88. With what you are showing your viewers driver SS is now up 12mph in just the last 6 weeks. Sitting comfortably at 102-106 and peaking at 110. This is invaluable teaching for any age golfer, particularly those of us in middle age
That’s an incredible improvement. Well done sir!! I’m so glad my channel has helped elevate your swing speed! Remember that the lead leg can force multiply that momentum even further over time! Best, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️♂️🙏🏻
I’ve been watching TH-cam’s videos for years and Andrews teachings and what he shows you are the best I’ve ever seen and it’s not close and I have seen a whole lot
Hey Andrew, love the instruction and simple you make things. Do you have a video that goes into detail about when to straighten the lead leg? I still think I’m doing it too early.
Hi Shane, the simplest way of looking at this is that the majority of your pressure is front loaded at P5. That glide phase should be done at this point. From P5 to impact you’re not adding additional pressure to the lead side. You’re simply moving that pressure back towards your lead heel as you approach impact! Thanks for watching! Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
This is fantastic Andrew! I noticed something interesting: When I let the hands wheel freely and I hinge well on the other side of the body, as you suggest, the draw is great but it sometimes becomes a hook....unless I use the ground force of the leading leg (posting) at the same time. The more the club face closes the more power from the ground I use to balanced it all . For me, it frees up the hands for a real swing without any worries of overcooking the draw. And that lack of fear allows the face to close as designed, instead of resisting it or influencing it.
Taking Andrew’s GREAT instruction to Trackman tomorrow, I’ll report back tomorrow on the results….STOKED for GREAT SUCCESS! Thanks Andrew, keep on feeding us the good advice… Cheers & Happy Holidays to All!
Awesome Video, weekend golfer can learn alot from your videos... You mention hit through the ball.. Is there any drills that you can recommend or feels..to hit through the ball
Absolutely! Both the hitch hiker drill and the fifth parallel drill that I demonstrate in this video will help you “send your speed home!” Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
In your video on creating speed with the trail arm,you suggest getting the upper right TRAIL arm elevated so that the upper trail arm ( the humerous) gets up until this upper arm becomes parallel with the ground. Unfortunately the right arm is connected to the left arm and most older golfers cannot get the left hand and the right hand connected if the right arm elevates to that position. This anatomical deficit shortens the backswing by several inches which results in a decrease in the speed that can be attained in the downswing. Sensing this the older golfer lunges at the ball with his body, usually without much success. I belive that the reason good golfers usually start to play golf as children is that at that age their shoulder/ arm connection is more pliable and if they continue to play golf by the time they reach adulthood they have more mobility in the left arm/shoulder connection and can swing with their arms as you suggest. Quarterbacks and baseball pitchers all elevate their throwing arm like you suggest for the golf swing when they throw. But they are not required to keep both hands together when they throw. Golf requires that this connection/ This. is why teaching old men to play golf is often very problematic.
William - Extremely salient points!! Your high golf IQ is greatly appreciated. It’s why it’s so important to find a coach that will meet you where “you are!” There are of course ways to counter limited external shoulder mobility. The trick in my opinion is to fix the club face first! I can’t tell you how much difference a stronger club face can make to (any) age golfer! Working at a Country Club as a Teaching Professional for twenty years taught me a thing or two about working with senior golfers. Countering a short backswing with a more closed set up not only helps the path. But it also encourages a diagonal glide into the ball of the lead foot which combined with faster arms is the key to more speed with less effort!! It all starts with a better grip (and/or) release pattern for most!! You can’t SPIN your body to more speed William!! Thanks again for the great comment! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Excellent. When I look at the ball on the tee, my drives are invariably left. Sometimes disastrously so. When my eyes are focused on the expected low point of my swing, maybe 3-4 inches before the ball, I can hit it straight. I think I'm losing some precision strikes this way, so I'm looking forward to discover how I can keep my eye on the ball, and not yank it left.
Thanks for the comment Lance! As a point of reference when the ball is forward in the stance and the club is working slightly up on the golf ball with a driver the club is naturally exiting slightly left even if you’re on plane! Try aligning slightly right which will shift your plane line to a point where the clubs direction will improve as it’s ascending into the golf ball!! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
A ton of very valuable nuggets in this video. And for more than just the driver too. 👍 🎉. Many instructors talk about a straight left arm throughout the swing. What’s your view on that?
Extended past the ball is a lot more important than extended at the top!! Be careful to monitor the tension in your arms, you’re not locking your joints! You’re actuating them to create leverage and speed. Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Andrew, the driver is the one problem. I’m having where I feel like I tried to keep my back at the target as long as possible and I do really well with all the clubs except for the driver and I feel like I have to flip it and I’m caught it’s causing me hooks !what am I doing wrong?
When I hit irons the ball is in between my feet and I’m hitting down more! That pushes my path a little right, my lead hand feels like it’s pointing down more through the ball! With Driver the ball is forward more which forces the club to exit more left through the ball. Make sure you shift your swing alignment and swing direction to the right a little to start. If you’re still hooking - unlike the irons I feel like my lead wrist is pointing more up through the ball!! This should slow your rate of closure, add some loft and minimize your hooks! Best, Coach A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻
Hi Andrew, found your channel recently and enjoying the content. I noticed your left heel whilst "squishing the spider" actually moves a little away from the target at the same time. Is this something you would recommend to try and copy? i.e does it provide more potential vertical force?
Completely subconscious and I’ve always done that. It’s just a characteristic of my swing and not something to copy. Thanks for watching! Best, A. 🏌️♂️⛳️🙏🏻

So please, be a new type of teacher that tells me what to do right. Period. Because the things you say for a good swing are lovey. I hope you can read this comment as a positive thing. 😍🏌🏻♂️⛳️
You have to understand what you are doing wrong before you can do what is right. It is actually good to hit balls from both extremes to get the “feel” of what you are trying to do. Unfortunately, too many golf instructors give you a bandaid and then you have “learned” nothing. Please Coach A. Don’t change a thing!
As another golf instructor, we do that because you need to understand the swing better than you do in order to do the correct moves. Half of what the average golfer does wrong is not intentional.
