Hi Beth: I have only just discovered your designs and your podcast, and I commend you on the decision to include a schematic with your pattern page photos. That really is helpful in deciding whether a pattern is suitable. I love freesias but had no idea they grow in the grass like that.
Enjoyed both the knitting update and the flower video at the end. I usually take 2 projects to travel - one easy and one more complicated. That way I always have options!
I enjoy your new set-up with all the beautiful sweaters behind you. I am so envious! At the moment I am working on my basic beginner garter stitch cardigan. But it’s knit using super bulky yarn and US11 needles, which means I can only do about ten rows max per day. Otherwise, my hands are in pain. But I am bullheaded and will continue on even if it ends up not fitting me. There are no short row stitches, ribbing, or buttons. Just seam the pieces together. Maybe one day soon I will be able to knit one of your patterns. Oh! My grandparents here in CA had loquat trees in their backyard and I have fond memories of eating the fruit. StitchedbyMimi
Good Morning Beth! Always enjoy knitting along with you 😊 Your new sweater Glimmering Water? is gorgeous and cannot wait to try that one out. Have a lovely day 💜
I so enjoy your podcasts. Lots on my needles but loving the diamond ( traveling stitches) stitches sweater. Gonna follow this progress. I as well enjoy the berma -basic. The 18 gauge I have seen you in ( think the 18 or is it the 24).? The one with the multi color yarn is lovely. Also the NY trip you discussed was interesting. I have to go to NY once every 2-3 years to visit husbands family and I so dislike the City it is just too much for me. It was nice to see/ view through your eyes in a fond way…. Guess I need to adopt a new lense. Thank you for today.
Thank you so much for watching! Yes NYC is big and busy and a lot. I like to see it through the lense of neighbourhoods and I find that much more manageable (esp if I tread lightly in MidTown :)).
🙌🧶Casting on your Fig Boxy Sweater today. Looking forward to the whole process. 😊 Really enjoy your podcasts. Thank you for sharing your esthetic, Bermuda & your newish venture into being a full time designer.
Hi Beth! Lovely to join you here - and wonderful to see the upcoming sweater ideas!! I love the Spanish Moss Tunic with that incorporated scarf... I have a fab collection of silk scarves, from my teen days of working in retail part-time and usually in the ladies accessories section of department stores... LOTS of beautiful Liberty scarves that I of course got at employee discount prices... that would be an amazing way of incorporating my collection, as opposed to wearing it just loosely on top of the sweater... would love to be in the test realm for that one!! ... and such fun for you to be looking forward to your upcoming Germany trip!! Until next time, Cheers, Judith 💜
Oooh Judith! What a fun job as a teen working in the accessories department! How fun! And yes, Liberty scarves are the best. Beautiful prints, fine cotton or silk blends, absolutely gorgeous. They used to sell the Liberty scarves here in Bermuda at our old Dept Stores and I have some from then and keep an eye out at the resale shops. Great fun to collect! Remind me about test knitting this one when the time comes around and of course! I'd love you to! Thanks for watching!
Oh my, it looks so beautiful outside. We have entered into rain and mud season here in New Hampshire. But I do love the way the trees look after a good rain. Your sweaters and designs are always stunning! Happy knitting 💚🧶💚
Thank you so much. Yes Bermuda looks pretty lush and green all year round. Rain and mud at the end of winter can be lovely too - all the anticipation for new blooms 🌷 Enjoy!
I enjoy seeing the sweaters behind you, Hopefully, someone will have an idea on how to save your shoulders. You might find it helpful to put a towel on your table. It will prevent the noise of your jewelry and/or needles hitting the table. I thought of you the other day when someone was knitting a sweater from an e-book which had multiple versions of the same sweater. Hopefully, something like that might work for Bermie Basic. It had multiple necklines and gauges. I haven’t thought of combining an alpaca with an economical yarn. I’m not a huge fan of mohair but like a little fuzz. Thanks for all the work you’re putting into these podcasts. Deborah from Florida
Thank you Deborah! Great suggestion re towel on the table. The Bermie Basic will be available as an ebook of sorts, once all of the gauges have been tested etc. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing Bermuda foliage with us, it is gorgeous and I long for spring. I’m in the Midwest of the USA and we are a bit out from spring. I love you Glimmer view sweater, the traveling stitch pattern is fabulous! I always pack lots of knitting when I travel for the “just in case”…..so one easy, one requiring my attention and yarn to cast on something new if it moves me.
Oooh that's a great tip! I love how you pack! I may have to do the same... I hope Spring comes soon to you but in the meantime, enjoy the rest of your "sweater weather"!❤
Lovely podcast and just adore the pink and orange tamarind sweater. Thank you for showing the freesias - brought back a hoard of memories as they were my mum’s favourite flower and she’s been gone some 18 years. Love and gratitude Beth, from Linda in the UK 💕🧶💕
I went to Calgary for 5 days a couple of weeks ago and took socks and a Musselburgh hat. Socks because they were small and portable for the plane. The hat because I needed mindless knitting while visiting. Totally different than you. I love that. For you, I think that cabled sweater would be great travel knitting.
ha, ha! Thanks! I may need to get the cabled sweater on the needles before I go just to be sure. Would be horrible to be on such a long plane ride and not like the project! Thanks so much!
Glad you like them! And thanks re note on schematics. I'm a believer but worried I'll forget to add that so LMK if you see a new pattern of mine without it! 😉❤
I love your podcasts. Thanks for sharing your local. landscaping. In NC we have lots of daffodils and I’m getting ready to plant some pansies and violas. I love all your patterns and would love to start one of the Bermies soon. Enjoy your knitting and your travels.
Hi Beth! Your travelling stitch sweater is so pretty! I love your son and mother trips. I'll have to think about that with my kiddo. Super funny your husband taking chocolate. I'll email you about your sweater testing. I'm not a super fast tester. I think Leslie Friend just went to Germany not too long ago and might have chatted about a couple yarn stores on her podcast. All the best, Kimberly
Thanks Kimberly - just got and replied to your email. Thanks so much & perfect timing! Great tip re Leslie and her trip to Germany (it did look fabulous) - I may reach out to her, thanks! Happy knitting!
Can’t wait to do the Bermy basic. I just wanted to say that my sisters and I grew up with Loquats in southern California. Our grandmother had the tree. But not very prevalent in our area. I knit a lot now since I live in northern Washington state. My sister and I have a small store and a great knit group called the knitting salon!! Love your podcast!!
Thank you! Fun to hear you had loquats in California. They're such a lovely fruit and so useful for jam and liquor too :) I'll be sure to keep the Knitting Salon in mind if I'm ever in Washington State. How wonderful to have a knitting shop!
Looking forward to that new pattern! It looks like mermaid scales and I would really love to have the pattern before the summer so that I can finish it before next autumn 😊
Hi Beth. Great episode. I'm looking forward to the summer shirt sleeve tee being released & I love the textured diamond pullover you're working on. I think that's going to be a real winner also!! And hello from NS!
Thank you! And hello to you in NS! Such a beautiful province! Hope you feel a bit of Spring, I know it has been a long cold winter there. Thanks for watching
@@bethmacdonaldstone well you know spring in Canada, just when you think it's here, we get a giant dose of winter again! 🤪 It was beautiful yesterday tho so I'll take it!
Thanks so much Beth! The Tamarind is a beautiful design in both of the color combos you chose. I also love the fabric made by pairing Holst Supersoft with mohair or alpaca - so light and airy. I made a Soldatna in that combo and it's perfect. I'm really interested in your Bermy 14 using Big Birdie as I have a SQ in Miel which I've had waiting for a good pattern match. So freesia grow in the grass - who knew?! Beautiful video coverage.
Thank you! Yes working on the Bermy 14 using Big Birdie and loving it so far. It feels loose and light and so fluffy. Cant wait to see how it wears! If it is at all like the smaller Birdie, then I'll be so pleased. Thanks so much for watching!❤
I would never have considered myself a multi tasker but I watch knitting You Tube videos while I knit so I DON'T day dream. I knit off my iPad; and I'm watching you on my MacBook simultaneously. Would love you to go through some of the sweaters hanging behind you (and yes hanging sweaters is considered a no-no but looks great!)
I do the same with knitting (except off a sheet of paper) but I still find I can daydream :) Yes - great idea - I'll definitely go through some of the sweaters in the video - that would be fun. Thanks for the idea!
What would your suggestion for me be as far as a new project. Moving from scarves and a baby blanket to something a Little more challenging? I’m returning to knitting after about 35 years, and anything too complicated scares me! Maybe a sweater with set in sleeves or raglan? I’m a nervous knitter. When I drop a stitch I break out into a sweat but always manage to pick the stitches back up. Thanks!
I love your podcast and projects, I have been trying to resist buying patterns but lost all resistance with you Tamarind, I have some hot pink 12 ply mohair, inherited from a friend of mum's, WILL find something dark to contrast it I am sure the gauge will be close if not I'll do the math.
The sweaters hanging behind you are beautiful! I didn’t think sweaters should be hung because they stretch out in length and get funny shoulders. What’s your secret to be able to do that?
Its true - that definitely happens. I thought by using the suit hangers I could get away with it for a few of the tighter knits. Not so, going to have to rethink that all but I must say its so pleasing and inspiring to look at. Far more then when they are folded on a shelf. Urgh!!! ❤
Ah Easter lilies! My father would bring my grandmother lilies at Easter. It was a reminder of her home and childhood in Bermuda. It made her happy and sad.

Thank you!
Love that sweater on you. So attractive! Glad to hear your moving along on the Bermy. Looking forward to another test knit soon.
Thank you! 😊
Lovely to hear and see your podcast. I’m remembering loquats from my childhood in Israel.
How wonderful! Thanks for watching

Good luck with the bulky cardigan - I'm sure you'd find any of my designs easier!!! Especially on your hands!!! Happy knitting!!!
Love tye Glimmerview!!
Thank you! It's coming along! Just split for sleeves this afternoon. Cant wait for a bit of the body to be knit to try it on. ❤
Good Morning Beth! Always enjoy knitting along with you 😊 Your new sweater Glimmering Water? is gorgeous and cannot wait to try that one out. Have a lovely day 💜
Thank you so much Kelly!
I knit hats when I travel, then give them away. Easy. Keeps me busy. Uses up leftover yarn. And does some good for people who need hats.
Great idea!!! thank you!

Oh good! They have such a distinct and beautiful scent! Thanks for watching!
The sweater you’re wearing is just so beautiful. I hope someday I can knit at that level. But it seems daunting right now.

Oh gosh - I'd go for a circular yoke sweater. It doesnt get simpler than the Bermy Basics and there are two gauges out already - the 24 and the 18.

I love your scrappy tunic! Do you have a link to those "pony cords"?
Oh gosh, I bought those YEARS ago on Amazon. If you do a search on Amazon for "Pony Cords" or "Scooby Cords" you'll find a ton of options.
Held together-NOT held double, right? 😊
Yes sorry, the yarn is held together.
