Nora, I’m so impressed by you! The fact that you’ve been knitting for only a year and all the things you’ve challenged yourself with and achieved is amazing! I’ve been knitting for nearly fifty years and haven’t done half the things you have 😞 Your drawbore (didn’t know the name of this until your video, so, thank you!) analogy for your button placement is perfect!
Thank you so much!! I can only hope that seeing someone new to the craft trying these more "advanced" techniques will help you feel like you have the ability to do it too!! But I also recognize the fact that trying so many new things all of the time doesn't exactly make for the most relaxing hobby, and it is SO OKAY for knitting to be just that for you!!
@@akaNoraKnitsI was inspired by you to try the double knit button band on my daughter’s vest. So, thank you!! Also, I found the video for buttonholes without cutting the yarn: th-cam.com/video/AIUtOMxpCgg/w-d-xo.html - not difficult, but I did make a couple of small mistakes that I decided not to go back and fix - thank you for that too (*your little tag line about mistakes making it handmade)
Nora, I had to pause your video and immediately fix the bottom button on the cardigan I was wearing using the placement method you were talking about. Actually managed to fix something that had been bugging me since I finished the cardigan! So thankyou! Love your cardigan and your mods. This pattern has been on my to-do list for awhile, after seeing yours I'm determined to get to it soon! Love your button band, so polished. Will be copying 😅
Oh Nora. Miss Korshavn is divine. She is so pretty. The montage was great. Also, i dont think there should be ANY shame in those 182 days. I admire the time & care spent on the details. The antler 🫎 story never fails. It will forever be relatible & funny. Dads sweather looks great. I love the ribbed pattern in the body of it. The Ciclamen sweather is looking cool. Love that ribbed detail running along the underarm. Thank for curating these videos. Take care, Anna
Wonderful video today! Your detailed description of the button placements are a great addition. You cover so many great information bits on your projects and how to wear them! It is so fantastic to see you each week!
🦌 I never miss an episode. Your laugh, smile, and excitement always brighten my day. For a long-term mindless knit option, I want to suggest Purl Soho's half and half triangles wrap. It's one of those no deadline, cozy, versatile items. The Linen Quill is a dream to work with, and how many ways it can be styled makes it special.
[deer emoji] The buttons just melt into the sweater -- they're both understated and spectacular. Dumb buttons will wreck a gorgeous sweater; I just bought a $380 coat and changed the buttons. You could've spent twice as much and they still would've been worth it.
🦌 Thank you!!! That's exactly what I was going for! I couldn't agree more. I think they can really make or break a project and I would do the exact same thing if I bought a coat that didn't have the right buttons for me. Now that I have the garment finished, I don't regret a thing!!
If you are anything like your on camera self in real life you must be such fun to be around. I love that you don’t take yourself too seriously and laugh a lot. Laughing is so good for your health in my opinion.
I love that you stuck out that explanation until you were able to find your words to fully explain it to us!! Who knew that woodworking and knitting could so beautifully intersect. I feel like this opens up a whole new world of understanding our knitting.
I literally think in pictures so I am always so determined to find the words to explain the cool things in my head! Hahaha...I could go on and on and on about the many ways that alllll of my hobbies intersect and how wonderful it is to use one hobby to better understand another! I strongly encourage you to think of ways that could apply in life! It's a fun game of perspective!!
I loved that analogy of the table. I did my first double knit band recently and found I had to do that as well but I didn’t question why. Also I just cast on this cardigan pattern because you inspired me!
Congrats of finishing the fantastic cardigan! I attended a virtual knitting summit last weekend which has resulted in joining a “simple” sweater KAL starting Monday. Eeep! I’m an experienced crocheter who literally started knitting last week, but I keep thinking “look what Nora did her first year of knitting… just do it!” I’m hooked. Thanks for the inspiration! 🎉
Thank you!!!! Oh my goodness 🥰 you’ve made me so happy with this! I hope you fall in the love the same way I have! Never hesitate to reach out for a fellow beginner’s perspective on something!!
🦌YAYYYYY for finishing this gorgeous Cardigan. Girl I have legit been here since episode 1 and I look forward to every video. You are so fun to watch and you pick so many cool and cute projects! The double knit button band is perfection! This cardigan turned out so great.
🦌 I really enjoyed the highlight reel for the Korshavn cardigan. What a journey! I’m currently knitting a cardigan for my dad, so I totally relate to your feelings of anxiety about it fitting!
🦌I'm so happy that you are loving your Korshavn. I have been knitting for several years but I have only made hats, socks, scarves, but once I found you I decided that it can't be that scary so I am making my own Korshavn. I haven't knit a cardigan, and I am knitting it with DK yarn and mohair, so this is a lot of new things. Thanks for sharing with us, this made me brave enough to give it a try. I like your button band but I guess I will cross that bridge when I get there.
🦌Your button adventure had me snorting tea through my nose. I still laugh when I think about it. The cardigan is beautiful and very worthy of those antler buttons! Thanks for a great episode.
Love your Korshavn! 🦌 🦌 Many moons ago I worked part time at a bead shop and we had vintage buttons which were so beautiful - and so ridiculously pricey! Great video, as usual! Have a great week!
I remember a bead shop I loved in Laguna Beach when I was growing up -- it's one of the first places I went alone when I got my first driver's license. That sparkling coast drive! They had fantastic buttons, and I had forgotten. Just checked: the store is still there!! It's 50 years later, and will be a sweet 45-minute road trip for me next weekend. *I can't thank you enough for your comment!*
Your Korshavn Sweater is beautiful, love the button band - really impressive. Your new sweater is going to be beautiful too and your dad's sweater is amazing!
🦌 okay, now I need to knit a Korshavn! It's gorgeous, especially with the double-knit button band. I've been knitting for over 50yrs, and consider myself an adventurous knitter, but I've never tried double-knitting!
🦌 I couldn’t recommend it more! There’s a whole family of Korshavn designs too! I was terrified to start the doubl knit button bad, but I wound up LOVING that process. Tedious enough to take my time and keep coming back to it, but also mindless enough to do while watching TV! So fun!
Love that you persevered and finished your Korshavn cardigan and you referenced a drawbore to explain your button placement. Great job sticking with it 🦌You've inspired me to get on finishing 2 cardigans I've had on my needles for WAY longer than they should have been.
The colors of that Ciclamen are absolutely gorgeous! I wish that yarn didn't have so much acrylic. I live in Texas and acrylic sweaters are generally just too warm. But I may have to go check it out because that color is so pretty. Looks fantastic on you! I can't believe how far you've progressed since just last week.
Right??? I am with you! I was hoping that the cotton acrylic makeup wouldn’t mean that the fibers blown into the yarn are all acrylic, but it is just so soft and so pretty! I’ll try to keep y’all posted on how it wears and how toasty it really gets while wearing it
It was so freaky to see my Korshavn at 03:05 👀 You can see I also did a modified band. Mine was just a 1x1 rib but on smaller needles, so kind of looks like a double-knit. And I'm sooo glad I modified it, it looks much more "finished" this way. I think I love yours more, I might need to make another one in a neutral yarn now 😍
I'm literally knitting with Fisherman's Wool in Oatmeal as I'm watching this video! I'm making the Fisherquine Pullover and I'm OBSESSED with every stitch of it. The pattern is beautifully written and the yarn is cabling so perfectly. I'm just having a blast and can't wait to wear this when it's finished. (I actually bought a sweater's quantity of this yarn in 2 other colors before I was finished with he yoke of this sweater!)
I love hearing about all your exciting/stressful fiber moments…thank you for sharing what so many of us have gone through with our projects 😄. Love your finished cardigan and the buttons are amazing 🤩.
🦌The button story is one of my favorites and they look amazing on the cardigan! I also enjoyed the explanation of button placement and actually found it helpful, so thank you. 🙂 Don't ever feel bad about store bought clothes (the Christmas pj's). I often start feeling like I need to hand make everything for my family and then when I can't fit it all into my schedule, I feel like I have failed. In reality though, my expectations of my ability and time tend to be extremely unrealistic in that area. I have to remind myself of this often and almost talk myself into pulling the trigger on store bought items. But it's always a big stress relief when I do.
Thank you so much!! 🥰🦌 I so appreciate you sharing your perspective on the manner. I have such a bad habit of telling myself I have time to make the things that I want to and then getting disappointed when that just doesn't happen. I often forget that my hobbies tend to go through their own seasons and it's hard for me to plan so far out, but I am trying to shift my thinking. It's good to know I'm not the only one!
I've made two sweaters for myself with caron blossom cakes (and another one for my sister) and they defintiely get that worn and cozy cotton t-shirt/sweatshirt feel! I love mine so much and I hope you love yours just as much!
I recently purchased a few Blossom Cakes in Cabana to knit a throw-on oversized cardi for around the house! I thought it would be nice and soft without being too warm like wool is, better for indoor spring/fall temps. Also, your Korshavn is absolutely incredible, I had to add the pattern to my Ravelry queue
I have just found your you tube channel and am watching it from the start. I have got to this cardigan and had to make it. I just bought some lime green yarn costing £161 but worth it. The yarn is Dun NG NGALL wild Atlantic yarn apple colour. I am going to get the cream yarn also for another jumper I did if I like this yarn. Luv yr channel so much. I am a beginner and just starting on my journey. I am on my third jumper which is for my husband. The first 2 I did was full of errors but I learned loads. Will keep them for a memory lol
Thank you!!! I think it would be fantastic in a nice bright green!! I'm a big fan of celebrating the imperfections!! I hope you continue to find joy in knitting!
YEA! Glad to see you finished your cardigan... it looks fantastic! As well as your dads sweater is coming along nicely. I enjoy seeing and hearing about your knitting journey and i have been watching since the begging and will continue watching and looking forward to seeing where your next knitting adventure takes you! 🦌
Definitely trying your button method! Also, I've knit a vest with those Caron cakes and it is veryyy soft but it's gotten pretty pill-y/fluffy with wear. I don't mind though, nothing a shaver can't fix. I hope your dad loves his sweater!!
🦌I made a cardigan in three Fisherman’s wool Birch Tweed 202. I needed a little more after deciding to lengthen it another 10”. When looking, there are different versions of the same colors and numbers but some are mostly wool(white with black tweed) and some have more acrylic(more beige with bigger tweed pieces). Same name but they look completely different and different content. I was able to find some on Poshmark. And it did match even though the dyelots were different. So check the pics and wool percentage carefully!
Your Korshavn turned out perfect! 🦌 Also loved your woodworking analogy. A long time ago a did an apprenticeship as a carpenter (before going to medschool and then using my woodworking skills in orthopedic trauma surgery 😂) Very interested to learn about your zipper installing tool. I love zipper sweaters and have knit a couple but I HATE putting the zipper in. I had considered asking my knit group ladies if someone want's to do it if I pay them... but them did it myself again after letting the completely finished sweater sit for 3 month 😬
Thank you!! 🦌 omg I’m so glad someone understood where I was coming from with that! 😅 hahahaa…what’s a cool journey you’ve been on! I have some FEELINGS about this zipper install hahaha
Your cardigan is beautiful. The buttons may have been expensive, but they elevate the cardigan. They are also substantial enough to hold the button band in place. Using a button too small not only looks odd but will not hold the shape of the button band. Since you’re a bargain shopper, watch in resale shops for faded wools. You can see it on the shoulder of wool coat/jackets where the top is exposed to lighting (all lighting fades wool) This happens mostly to the color blue and all other colors containing blue. Cones of yarn can be faded on the top and bottom. The continual lighting in retail stores is hard on the color blue.
Thanks for the clarification on the v neck sweater and not being the best for a first sweater...it does look really beautiful, can't wait to see you try it on completely finished on camera!
Love your analogy to describe offset tension (I watched a PBS shows "New Yankee Peddler & "This Old House") & they use that carpenter technique too. It was very good example to explain button placement-smart! I think you could use 2 extra balls for Fingerless mitts/mittems/gloves & a hat!
Congrats on your finished sweater, it looks wonderful on you, especially those buttons. I would love to knit that one too, I’ve never knit a cardigan, just a few raglan sweaters. I’ve been to nervous to give it a try but I’m going to go for it. Check out a new cable cardigan from Andrea Rangel, Squish. I would love to knit that one too. Thanks for all the inspiration 🦌
Soo beautiful the cardigan and I like also the jumper for your father ,find out knitting male patterns they approve isn’t easy😊 I love your video and Your sparkling personality 🎉❤
Girl, your daddy is going to love that sweater either way ...but I'd say do not install the zipper till you know the length is right. Either: 1. Give it to him pre-zipper ....he would certainly understand you want it to be a perfect fit ...then adjust if necessary and let the zipper fly! Or... 2. Have your mom measure one of your dad's similar sweaters from neck to hem ...and adjust if needed before putting the zipper in. You are such a thoughtful daughter. He and your mom are blessed to have you!! 💕
🦌 Looks great! I want to do a knit on double-knit button band on my next cardigan. I’ve only ever knit one separately and sewn on afterwards, but yours looks so sharp that it’s inspired me to learn that new skill next!
Happy Sunday, Friends! Thanks so much for your patience with this weekend’s upload! I hope you enjoy 💛

You just continue to amaze me! You also woodwork?! You’re so talented!
Thank you!! 🥰
🦌love the buttons ❤ love your channel ❤
Thank you!!! 🦌
🦌I love your Korshavn! The buttons really make it special! I'm looking forward to learning about getting a zipper sewn into the band!!
They can make or break a garment! Thank you!! 🥰🦌
Your Korshavn turned out perfect! 🦌 Also loved your woodworking analogy. A long time ago a did an apprenticeship as a carpenter (before going to medschool and then using my woodworking skills in orthopedic trauma surgery 😂)
Very interested to learn about your zipper installing tool.
🦌been here since episode 1!
Awwww yayyy! Thank you!! 🥰🦌
🦌 it's so much fun watching you progress and learning from your experiences!
Thank you!!! I’m so happy I can share what I’ve learned! 🦌
The cardigan is beautiful! I am amazed at all you have done in your first year of knitting. How?! 😊
Thank you!!! 🥰 I just love to try new things!
🦌 love your podcasts
Thank you so much!! 🦌
Thanks for the clarification on the v neck sweater and not being the best for a first sweater...it does look really beautiful, can't wait to see you try it on completely finished on camera!
🦌Love how the sweater turned out, and your description of how you placed your buttons interesting, I can't wait to try it.
Thank you!! 🦌 I’d love to know if it works for you!!
🦌 it looks fabulous!!
Thank you!! 🦌
🦌another awesome podcast
Thank you so much!! 🦌
Your cardigan is gorgeous, so glad you were able to finish it!!
Thank you!! I’m so happy!!
Thank you!! I believe in you! Thanks for the suggestion!! 🥰🦌

🦌🦌🦌the cardigan is so stunning and the buttons look amazing on it!
Thank you! They are just right!!
🦌Great sweater! 🦌
Thank you!!! 🦌
Yay it's finished and looks great. This has been on my Favourites list for a while and has just been promoted to Number One!
I think maybe being a sewist helps with the button and buttonhole process.
It turned out beautifully and love the buttons!
Definitely! Thank you!!
Girl, your daddy is going to love that sweater either way ...but I'd say do not install the zipper till you know the length is right.
Either:
Great advice!! I wish I had been able to sneak some measurements beforehand 😅 Thank you 🥰🥰🥰
🦌 Looks great! I want to do a knit on double-knit button band on my next cardigan. I’ve only ever knit one separately and sewn on afterwards, but yours looks so sharp that it’s inspired me to learn that new skill next!
Glad you love it! That makes the time you took totally worth it! &🦌❤
It looks so good. Well done!!
Thank you so much!!
