I have been watching a bunch of the saltwater fishing channels here on TH-cam, and there’s only a couple that have proven to be worthy of watching and yours is one of them. I live and fish over near Pascagoula and it’s channels like yours that are the most informative and educational! I appreciate your videos, keep on rocking brother!
Hey man, love the videos. I have an idea that may be silly but I thought it could be worth sharing. If you mounted a gopro with say a suction cup or a little section of tubing with a mechanism to lock to the side-rail of your boat, you could have some underwater shots of the fish swimming and fighting as you're reeling them in. I think two problems with my idea are turning the camera on and off in between bites, as well as lighting but if you're out in the mid-morning to afternoon there could be enough light to get a shot of a fish. I don't know how feasible of an idea this is but it sprung to mind when the spanish mackerel started making your rod dance around, and how cool it'd be to actually see some portion of the fight.

It's never a gloomy day when you come home with a nice assortment of fish. You and Mom will be eating good for a few days. I just want to mention with bluefish, the younger the better, it's the bigger older ones that can be quite oily and gamey. Until a few years ago I lived in nyc and surf fished on Long Island and caught my share of big blues and stripers. If you soak the bluefish fillets in milk or even better buttermilk overnight it takes a lot of the gamey taste away. I can't explain how but I know it works. Good video, a day of fishing like that with a child can create a sportsman in an instant. I have great memories of fishing with my Dad when I was young, I'm 64 and still love it. Thanks for sharing

Hey Cap. Why don’t you get a scale tattoo on your inner right arm. That way when you hold to dehook you get length at same time. Measure from finger tip to typical place fish lies for start

Me and my brother just left from bama. Stayed on the bayside fort Morgan. And I have to say that vudu is a beast they also come in a smaller size to and many different shades I think different weighted jig heads to. But if your going to fish for flounder the vudu is a must. Can be fished open water or around docks and sea walls we tore them up if water is murky use one with brighter color like green and white if I was only allowed one lure vudu would be mine they are great. What size line would you recommend (braid) for a slammer iv dx 5500, I'm getting one soon but I don't know if I should put 30 or 40, I'd like to use it for smaller sharks and bigger reds
Don't know why bluefish get a bad rap as far as eating them. Just cut them and let them bleed in a bucket of salt water , then filet as normal. Bake with herbs and lemon. Tasty.

It almost appears you cast out in the middle of that body of water. I rarely do that. What are some indicators to look for to cast out into what appears to be "random" areas?

The Vudu Shrimp works great in fresh water too, the steelheads of Lake Erie love them...
I use that same vudu shrimp all the time catch reds and flounder like nothing else. It is definitely a good backup if you don't have live shrimp

probably shell bottom

I mainly look for sandy drop offs. Even if it's 1/2 foot or so, any change in depth with water flow and bait, normally there will be fish.
