Went fishing on 10/16/2022 and my hook fell between a dime space gap on the dock I was fishing on…. So don’t feel bad.. made me laugh when you said a tiny gap. I couldn’t do that in a million tries.
What I love about your channel, is that I learn a lot about the fish and species. I am nowhere near an ocean, and you are always very informative about everything you do and catch. thanks!
The Vudu's are truly a rugged game changer in artificial lures! Still grinning over all the different species your catching on them. Appreciate ya very much, and take good care!
I’m in Mobile and used to love Fort Morgan pier fishing. After spending the day fishing we would take the ferry over to Dauphin Island, do a little fishing behind the sealab before heading home. The new pier looks great!! We have grandkids now and don’t get to fish like we used to, especially since DI has made it impossible to fish from the shore now. Zero parking and beach access, it’s horrible. But your video has made me realize how desperate my soul needs to wet a hook.
I caught my first slot red 25 in on an extra light rod on 10 lb mono! I was so hyped! I followed your techniques with the drags so thank you !! Best fisherman on TH-cam
What I love about saltwater baitcaster is on piers, I have better control of a diamond jig allowing me to cast further and open the bail whenever, great for mackrel
Lot of memories fishing here. Especially at night. The fishing was good on that old death trap so it’s good to see the new one finally open. I’ll be hitting it up soon
Loving your videos! I've fished and guided (Salmon/Steelhead) up here in the Pacific Northwest for many years. I've always preferred and have taught other fisherman to use left hand retrieve reels (for righties). It feels odd at first but it's easy to 'teach' your left hand to go around in little tiny circles leaving your power hand to work the rod. When casting you leave the rod in the same hand and don't need to keep switching back and forth from casting to reeling.
Just a week too early to fish on that pier ,It would have been great to fish with dad at 82 he has a hard to walking that is why we fished Fairhope most of the time . Hopefully will get down there next year and get couple hundred whiting , white trout and beltfish . Those whiting are just good as our yellow perch and a lot easier to clean and make a killer po-boy or taco .🦈🦈🦈
my fav fishing channel. you're such a likeable guy and a good fisherman. Keep it coming! Honestly I think a video of how you trip plan/get on your spot when you're on your boat would be cool.
I’m actually going fishing in swan river tomorrow because it’s my birthday and I’m posting on my TH-cam channel 🥳 which is in Australia 🇦🇺 you’ve inspired me to start fishing and it’s my new favourite hobby! Thanks for the great content keep up the great work!
Great video! My family vacation time has finally arrived and we have made our way to Fort Morgan. I can't wait to check out the new pier! Would love to catch a shark! Thanks for the great content. Maybe see you out there!
I noticed that you mention that fish will hang out around structures when the water is not cold. In a wheelchair 260 miles from the gulf means I don't get down there but a friend suggested he would take me when he goes on vacation in December. I have never been to the Gulf around Christmas. What is fishing like on the piers or anywhere in or near Gulf Shores that is wheelchair accessible? I still have my salt water fishing gear.
Hi mate, I hope you’re well! Did you manage to get down there to fish in the end? I know what it’s like to not be able to go fishing, I’ve been having some mobility issues myself but I’m making an effort now, I’ve been twice in the last month or so, first times in around 12 years. The worst part is that the sea is just a short walk away, so close yet so far, lol 🙂 🤝 🎣
Great vid. Went to check out the new pier this morning. It’s really nice and I like how wide it is. Of course with the temp dropping and the strong north wind it was choppy and dingy.
I'm gonna have to try the pier. I tried the Pass for the first time two weeks ago but made a lot of mistakes and didn't catch much. One flounder, tons of pin fish and lizard fish. Still fun though.
100k subs very soon congrats and very much deserved with all the hard work you put into making this content. Thank the Lord for everything he does for us 🇺🇸
been watching ur vids for about two weeks straight now and you inspired my dad and i to try saltwater fishing again and weve been doing it for three days now. caught my first mackeral,he was obviously legal size w out measuring but i forgot to bring ice so i didnt keep him. yesterday was my dads birthday so we woke up very early and headed to fort desoto, fished the peir for a while, not much but then we went on a beach and i caught my first shark, bonnethead. god it was amazing and im glad ive been watching you so i had the right gear. i let him go although we had ice. thank you for putting out entertaining and educational content.
This is what I’m talking about! If you teach working, provable technique with different artificial baits you’ll definitely set yourself apart from the other channels. I’ve been looking for HOW to fish with all these baits out that that promise their the next best thing to fishing. Thank you!!!
I'm more of a live bait guy these days, but went to the local catwalk on a dam between freshwater and saltwater bay without. Around a dozen scattered along it with the flounder moving in. Some were catching one here and there while using live shrimp just laying on the bottom. I used a VUDU with casting it, lay, move 4-5 inches, lay 15-30 seconds, and had my 5 limit in less than half an hour. There were some attitudes around as I left. They could of been doing the same thing with their live shrimp-when the pin fish weren't stripping it off the hook-but weren't.
Sweet pier and like you said it will only get better, the issues with the cam you described you could blame that on murphy's law and cool of you to include your mom Cheers
Well made video and good content. I'm on the west coast in The Channel Islands. Always interesting to see the difference in species. Great stuff. Keep em coming. Fish on
I remember that old pier it actually claimed the life of a friend from school. I remember fishing from that pier after school when I went to Gulfshores high
I do too. and that's unfortunate. Sorry to hear, i know it had claimed a few lives during the bad weather and due to the bad condition and not having rails. The wood really made for some good fishing, but at least it's safer now
Well we had to leave yesterday so we missed the grand opening. Saw your truck on the great flounder day. Want give out your secret hole lol enjoy the videos be back at the fort next October
Thanks, love it man! Can you maybe please have an episode sometime about how water clarity works in the floribama area and the various considerations? Thank you for your service
Bama, you should do a couple of videos on using The Ugly Stick $50 combo. Pier, wall, and beach...just to show that it doesn't take a whole lot of money to get into some relaxed fishing.

The best fish attractor at this location is that jetty! And signs prohibit casting over to it to get in on the great fishing it provides. It’s easy to understand the conflict between boat propellers/seals and fishing line. No questions there. But when boats are not present, like in this great video, it seems like they need to modify their thinking on the rules overreach. A sign prohibiting fishing when boats are present would be what is needed. Just sayin… Your Mom usually puts it to you when you bring her along… We’re you holding back?
