I feel just like you. When I go to Japan, one day hopefully, I want to inhale the experience as a whole. I want to say "I can read that sign" or I can order food at a restaurant or say "hey that Japanese guy is cursing at me for defiling the temple".
@@メキシコ人-k2v The first time my brother went to Japan with his school, he got a free day to do anything so he decided to take the train into the city and went into the women's only carriage. He didnt speak the language or anything but the old ladies on it made sure to kick him out into another carriage xD
I got to go to Tokyo Tower about a month after I started my exchange to Japan. このビデオは本当に懐かしいですよ! I still have my Rilakkuma on Tokyo Tower charm! haha. Thanks for sharing :)
The reason I started learning Japanese was for many reasons, one being to watch anime without subtitles and the other just because I was really interested in Japanese culture. I am only 13 but I hope to one day visit and also live in Japan! Thanks for inspiring me ^_^
I admit I got a little teary eyed while watching this video. It's always great to see people following their dream and making it come true, it inspires me to do the same :) So thanks! Awesome video :))
I'm very happy that somebody understanding my little japanese speech answered to me in this wrcase.com Italy where I live, rarely somebody is studying japanese. Kemushi-Chan I'm so glad I just found your channel! Where has it been this whole time?! It is so rare to see another WOC, especially another black women, vlog about Japan & the language when you consider how many vloggers are actually out there. Your accent is spot on, and you are so animated when you speak, you remind me of myself! Please keep on being awesome, and know that you have a brand new subscriber/supporter! :)
I’m from Mexico and I grew up watching Sakura cardcaptor, it will forever have a special place in my hearth..... this anime is the reason why I’m learning Japanese. And one day will be visiting this beautiful place.... thank you for sharing
Omg. I was OBSESSED with CCS when I was in elementary school. Hearing that show inspired you to study and work in Japan just made me so happy to say the least. SUBSCRIBED. You are living my dream!
I managed to make it to your video through two videos about Japan. Really enjoyed your story!! Definitely going to subscribe :) I'm not too well with learning languages but I've never given up and I think I'll try to get back into it. I've been in love with Japanese culture since a student teacher came to visit in my elementary 3rd grade class to teach us about the culture. I wish I kept in contact with her because she really changed my perspective on different cultures. Thank you for sharing your videos, I cannot wait to see more and now I'm feeling inspired again!!!
Wanting to go to Tokyo Tower because of Cardcaptor Sakura should not be something to be embarrassed about. I want to go Northwest of Tokyo to Mt. Haruna in Gunma prefecture because of Initial D. We all have things that have drawn us to want to visit places in the world. :)
Wow, nostalgia smacked me right in the face when the song at 1:36 started to play (the theme of the first movie if I remember correctly). I loved this anime as a child.
You and I had the same childhood dream! If it weren't for Cardcaptor Sakura I wouldn't be on the path I am today. She inspired me to learn Japanese and go to Japan and I was so excited to go up Tokyo Tower. One day I want to do it Sakura's Yellow Cape Cosplay! Haha.
Hi! I just found your channel yesterday and I am a huge fan!! Your videos are really motivating me to not give up or slow down on studying Japanese. 😃 Please keep making awesome videos!
I was just always drawn to the culture. Fruits Books, Hello Kitty, when I found out it all came from Japan since 7 years old, I made it my life mission to get here. And I made it for good. Thanks Kemushi Chan.
Same! I didn't know I was watching and eating things that came from Japan until later. It has been 5 years and sometimes I think I'l never be fluent but watching Loretta's videos teaches me that I can.
I don't know why you would feel embarrassed! Cardcaptor Sakura is easily the best anime ever created. It used to air in America as Cardcaptors when I was a kid (we're roughly the same age) on one of the morning cartoon channels and I've loved it ever since. I didn't even know it was originally Japanese until I was in high school and when I found out I binge-watched e v e r y episode in Japanese online. Tsubasa is also my absolute favorite because it was like a continuation of Cardcaptor Sakura for me. At the point when I got ahead of the incredibly hard-working people who translated the videos, I decided to watch the raw versions and that's when I was like "I can't wait anymore! I'm just going to have to learn Japanese!!!" I still don't know much Japanese (7 or 8 years later) but I will never stop working!
Oh My Goodness!! Cardcaptor Sakura started my love for all things Japanese as well! After watching the terrible English dub as a child, I vowed to watch the original Japanese version...and I've lost count of how many times I've watched it since! I've watched loads of anime ever since, but it's a life goal of mine to learn Japanese and explore the country, ESPECIALLY TOKYO TOWER! :D The language, rich culture, food, and art of Japan is just breathtakingly beautiful! Everything about the culture just fascinates me and makes me fangirl! Haha Despite my learning of Chinese for school right now, I hope to someday learn Japanese, and your videos have been so helpful! You're amazing to have been able to follow your passionate interests and dreams! Learning that CCS started this all for you as well makes me love you more! Keep the awesome videos and your awesome work up!!
OMG SAMEEE I was inspired by the scene from CCS too and Ive been watching it every year since I was sevennn. Next week I will be sitting for my EJU please pray for me so I can experience the life in Japan just like you Kemushichan. I only knew that the place in CCS is fiction when I apply for the uni except for the tokyo tower so I absolutely have to go there!
You're really reinspiring me to go to Japan for a semester abroad. My love for anime also blossomed into a love for the culture, and for a very long time I really wanted to go (I figured that I would take my mom when I get famous lol). Your videos are so inspiring and adorable c:
The real reason I started learning Japanese is because I wanted to learn all the names of all the sushi items, not just the fish, but the cups and different levels of matcha, knives used to cut the sushi and anything related at all. Completely useless information to most people in real life maybe, but I wanted to know it all. Now I keep studying Japanese because I want to be able to live a normal life here and when my kids grow up I want to be able to help them with their homework and have to be able to know it all.
Ooo I feel like I would have a perfect thing for you. Have you ever been to a place where they make the sushi knives? There is a sushi maker i know in Jiyuugaoka that you would absolutely LOVE. He has a great personality and would show you crazy knives. Right now I can only find the card of his brother, who works for Sushi Say in London...
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Just sending love to a fellow CCS lover, it too inspired me to be interested in Japan & learning Japanese in the first place, now I am here to study animation ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ あと、恥ずかしくないよ!
I really liked this video!! :D I'm living in Peru right now but I will be moving to Japan in November. Seeing the Tokyo Tower (and I admit Cardcaptor Sakura is one of the reasons why too) is on my list of things to do!
I really enjoy your videos. Although I'm not actively learning Japanese, I still find that your content is so inspiring I can apply your lessons to my own studies as I continue with French. I enjoy the videos showing locations outside also.
omgggg, I love Card Captor Sakura too (from my childhood) I'm not too much in Anime now, but I agreed with you, that was the start to know more about Japanese Culture and the amazing things around it. I hope I go there one day, such amazing country and people
Aww I love CCS even my username and everything is because of sakura, right now I'm struggling with Japanese, and I do hope one day to be able to travel to Japan, loved this video, Thank you!! You are very inspiring :)
I have a friend who is a Japanese class teacher in Mission San Jose High School in California. She has approximately 100 student in her class, and she told me that their initial reason for nearly all of students taking her class is to want to read Manga and/or watch Anime in original Japanese. Then their interests are broadened to other aspects in Japan's culture. You are not different, Kemushi-chan. But you are a Honkakuteki Japan something. :)
i started studying japanese because i want to be an english teacher but that is such an unappreciated job here in america... and my aunt (through marriage) naomi wanyed me to learn and to go see her home town but died before we could go. and when i got older and saw sailormoon i new i had to persue this further i couldnt just leave it as a dream unchased because my parents didnt support it. now that im 23 its grown on them a bit and im teaching my brother too :) i think ive instilled the same love of japan in him aswell ♡
After getting into anime and being obsessed with hello kitty, it's always been my mission to go to japan. I've started self studying Japanese again and watch the tv dramas. I haven't been able to find a good anime to watch besides the revamped sailor moon
One of my funny reasons for learningJapanese is so I don't have to wait for imported stuff! No more waiting for english releases of games and anime, I can buy it straight from the source! ^^ Haha! I admire you, so much! I truly hope to be like you one day. I'm black and I feel nervous about traveling (especially to asia) because I don't want to be stared at. But if you can do it, so can I! Maybe we will meet each other one day! じゃまたね!
Omg with this video Alone, you have now become my hero. Way to inspire me. Going to Komiket in 1 year. your videos will help me tons. btw I LOVED CARD CAPTOR SAKURA!
For me the anime I find most inspiring is the ones like Wolf Children and My Neighbour Totoro where they move from the city to the country. I live in the Australian countryside and I would like to experience the Japanese countryside. I'm very much a country girl at heart.
I literally had the same reason for starting to learn Japanese. Same but different. I really liked 'Cardcaptors' but when it stopped airing, I was so obssessed that I went online looking for more. This is where I found the Japanese version 'Cardcaptor Sakura' and then I just watched it in Japanese and started to learn Japanese from then. I've actually been up Tokyo Tower 2 or 3 times lol
I totally agree about avoiding touristy things!! The 1st few times I went to Europe, I never did touristy things. Why go all the way across the world to stand in a plain room that could be anywhere, staring at a painting or sculpture that you've seen in photos tons of times, surrounded by people speaking english? What's the point? I would much rather be out in the real world, walking down the street, listening to the locals, watching them living their normal lives. That's what's fun for me.
Loretta, as someone who watched Card Captor Sakura with you back in Sensei's class, I am so happy to see you livin' that dream. (Seriously embarrassing days.)
AHHHHHHHH!!! I recently reread the whole series! and also the newer clear card stuff. Yue is my One True Anime Crush. -/////- I have a sakura card IC card holder and a themed ring on my iphone. My love for you has increased after finding out you love Cardcaptor Sakura.
I want to visit all the areas seen in Clannad. I know it sounds a bit dorky but I loved Clannad, I kinda want to walk the same path that Tomoya and Nagisa walked like a visit to Hamura Station, Numabe Station and a park called Sayama Pond Park.
Your videos reminded me of what started my interest in Japanese language and culture, which was the first time that I watched the original Godzilla in the first grade. I have now become a polyglot in at least three languages, thanks to God. Thank you, I find your videos very inspiring.
Hi~~!! I also feel the same way about Tokyo Tower! I know exactly what scenes you are talking about in the Anime CardCarptor Sakura! I watched it as a young girl before I knew what anime was. At that time I watched Cardcaptors (the english version) and really enjoyed it. I liked it so much I watched it in Japanese after! I was surprised at the differences! I did not know they made the english dubs different for some shows before that time! I even wrote a paper about it for school hehe. Still! I know exactly what you mean! Thank you for this video! :D I enjoyed it :D Bye~ :D :D
I remember Cardcaptor Sakura and I wanted to see Tokyo Tower because it was in a Tenchi Muyo movie...and I eventually saw it with my own eyes! I totally understand :)
I love Cardcaptor Sakura, it's the anime that inspired me as well to visit Japan in the future! I'm studying a bit japanese now on my own, I wish to live in Japan in the future :3
You know I remember watching Kermushi chan video from the days before the gaman suru series I even followed her to yes japan.I have practicaly watched every video she has done.I have watched her japanese explode from her first video until today. I notcied a huge difference in how her vocab has changed and even her accent. I am glad she is living her dream.I have studyied japanese off and on since 1996 nothing serious.Since watching her videos I am remembering lots of Kanji.(1000 just by watching her videos and reading the subtitle) .最近日本語勉強心入れ替えて
第一 ,がまんの ビデオseries から 美しい 日本語 ビデオ series 間で "ってうわけで" といいました.In your later vids " ってうわけで" sounds more crisp and precise. 始まるに 押すみんな元気 といいました.As your videos progressed the intro sounded more precise and perfect timing. Now you sound native. I showed a video of yours to a japanese friend he was shocked.I hope i didnt embarrass myself as I just butchered japanese. there were some words you used during the gaman series that you used in your later videos and I could tell the difference between the progression of skill. One of these days I am going to study a semester or 2 over there.
I would love to go to japan, mostly because I love things that are different from what I'm used to. I only learned a little Japanese, and that's only because there are too many times I watch english subbed anime and one of my buddies speak it but...yeah, I have horrible memory. Still 6 more years to go! (Still, I'm also going because of anime! YESHH! You're still awesome!)
I was at Tokyo Tower in 2015! It was the last morning I was in Japan and I went before I had to go to the airport. There was a crepe stand nearby that had a cute little bird that walked up to us and begged for crepe bits. I also got the "special observatory" ticket and I even did the same thing where I looked up at the mirror ceiling with my camera in the elevator! That weird robot dude was there too but wasn't wandering around. Man, this makes me want to go back soon. I also remember watching Cardcaptor Sakura, and anime/manga is a big reason why I'm still trying to learn the language. I never achieved my dream of living in Japan and doubt I will at this point, but I still want to visit often! So I love watching your videos. :)
I went to Tokyo Tower in 2011 during my summer term study abroad. We went at night, it was so magical and during that time they had a Michael Jackson tribute on the lower level of the tower.
Yup, Anime and Manga was my reason for learning Japanese. I wanted to feel that achievement of being able to read Anime and Manga by itself. Also, I enjoy singing so after listening to the endings, openings, Vocaloid and other Japanese music, I felt like I just had to learn Japanese to sing in Japanese! I'm currently 13 and I hope to have at least the basic Japanese or more even. I want to study abroad!!
Ahhhh! You can see the school I teach at in this video! ^-^ I am really lucky to be able to see Tokyo Tower every day on my way to work and from my desk. Even though I see it all the time, the view never gets old!
That anime brought be to Japanese as well. It's just a little glimpse into a culture and then you're down the rabbit hole. If I have one regret, it's not continuing with Japanese after high school. But hey - never say never, right?
It is my dream to learn Japanese and move to Japan. I was inspired by anime to learn, and I think learning by myself off of nothing was special, and I am happy that I made this choice. And all from a little show called Soul Eater.
The Real reason i am learning Japanese is because i want to experience going to their festivals (plus i want to know at least another language) hehe i've seen in Animes where they have festivals and there's fireworks and i really wish to go, also to see Japan at night time~ ahhhhhhh i wanna go SO bad once i enroll in college!
The rural countryside, actually... It's a part of Japan that's rarely portrayed in media. When it is, there's often a sense that it's romanticized as well, in a way that may not reflect reality.
I'd be lying if I said my first introduction to Japanese culture and what made be curious about it wasn't anime or manga. But what really intrigued me about Japan was how different it is. There really is no other country like it with the things that they have and make there. And that's why I wanted to go there so badly; that's why I'm studying the language. I know the country has its faults; and learning the language isn't easy, but I'm having so much fun doing it.
Maybe it's a little late to comment this, but a while ago i bought the Card Captor Sakura 60th anniversary manga collection and they're super cute and the covers have metal foil on them and at least the first tome has a cute bookmark. (I haven't opened the rest) They're called: なかよし60周年記念版 カードキャプターさくら There's only 9 volumes and they are not expensive at all! :) I also got the nausicaa full manga set, but I'm still a bit too far away from being able to read that one. haha Thankyou for sharing this video!
I've been watching anime non-stop for 4 years and if I don't read the subtitles I can still understand what they're saying in Japanese but the problem is, I can't speak or read Japanese and I really want to!! I know how to count and I know some words but I don't know how to start learning to read (speak or wright). I'm starting with the Hiragana alphabet but I was wondering if you have any tips? That would be very helpful!! Thank you.
Hi! Could you describe how long it took you to fluently learn Japanese and perhaps provide tips for people who are starting out, especially with learning Kanji! I'm taking classes but I'm having trouble figuring out what I should focus on practicing at home and simply on my own. Especillay during the summer vacation when I won't have any classes! Thank you!
I feel just like you. When I go to Japan, one day hopefully, I want to inhale the experience as a whole. I want to say "I can read that sign" or I can order food at a restaurant or say "hey that Japanese guy is cursing at me for defiling the temple".
Lol... WHAT are you planning to do to the temple?!
It's not like I'm planning something. I mean you know, things happen and I could accidentally do something I'm not supposed to.. At
Lol. Thanks to my glasses I apparently have four eyes. Im going to use one of the spare ones to keep a close wary eye on you...
Lol. I am offended. I think I can walk around Japan without getting into trouble. Accidental trouble of course. ☺

We were EXACTLY where you were when you took that picture up the Tower. We also found that catwalk. We didn't going there, but we had a great time!
Wow! It' s amazing that you can speak Nihongo so well. I am envy coz im n Japan now and studyng Japanese for a year but cannot speak yet well.
Hi I just dicovered your channel yesterday. It is very nice.
i started studying japanese because i want to be an english teacher but that is such an unappreciated job here in america... and my aunt (through marriage) naomi wanyed me to learn and to go see her home town but died before we could go. and when i got older and saw sailormoon i new i had to persue this further i couldnt just leave it as a dream unchased because my parents didnt support it. now that im 23 its grown on them a bit and im teaching my brother too :) i think ive instilled the same love of japan in him aswell ♡
After getting into anime and being obsessed with hello kitty, it's always been my mission to go to japan. I've started self studying Japanese again and watch the tv dramas. I haven't been able to find a good anime to watch besides the revamped sailor moon
I used to love card captor sakura as a child!! cool to see others did too :)
one day, when i go japan i wanna go akihabara the most
One of my funny reasons for learningJapanese is so I don't have to wait for imported stuff!
Wish you all the best 👍
東京で生まれたけど私より日本が好きかもねwムズカシイ日本語も上手になって尊敬します!日本楽しんで下さい
I love watching your videos, they keep me motivated!
I've only watched this video, but I'm subscribed. :3
Thank you! I hope you take a look around and like what you see. :)
(Seriously embarrassing days.)
omg lydia XD !!! You caught me! ;_; I saw Thakur-sensei a few years ago and she's still there teaching more of us.
Aw! "Sa-kurr-ah!"
Nice video I feel the same way I rather find hidden gems Vs go to all the tourist spots but there are always places you have to see
カードキャプターさくらって言うアニメは私が日本語を聞き始めた頃でした!
Fell in love with the Japanese language ever since. :)
AHHHHHHHH!!! I recently reread the whole series! and also the newer clear card stuff.
Yue is my One True Anime Crush. -/////-
I have a sakura card IC card holder and a themed ring on my iphone.
I love your subtitles lol
I'm so proud of you!!!
遠いこの街で! Man.. That brings back memories. I still think it's one of the most beautiful Anime songs I've ever heard.
OMG, Sailor Moon was my gateway drug! I love your channel 😸
Wow, thank you so much!!! I'm so touched you stuck it out! :D My ACCENT changed/??
カードキャプターさくら世代ではないけど再放送をよく見てました🌸
Clear card編がまた漫画の連載で始まって2クール分アニメになりましたね
That anime brought be to Japanese as well. It's just a little glimpse into a culture and then you're down the rabbit hole. If I have one regret, it's not continuing with Japanese after high school. But hey - never say never, right?
Anime and jpop is my reason to be so much excited to come to Japan 😀
Im new to your channel! Omg cardcaptor sakura got me into the rabbit hole of anime, j-pop, jdramas, etc etc!
When I lived there I never went up,and the reason was I remember it being really expensive
I just discovered your channel ... love your videos, story, everything!
Same reason why Im learning Japanese :D. KemushiCHan! Thanks for Sharing this :)
It is my dream to learn Japanese and move to Japan. I was inspired by anime to learn, and I think learning by myself off of nothing was special, and I am happy that I made this choice. And all from a little show called Soul Eater.
Thank you for loving Japan.
You're the best.
最近かわいいとおもってきたロレッタさん
Cardcaptor Sakura was actually the anime that made me like Japan and the japanese language :D
The rural countryside, actually... It's a part of Japan that's rarely portrayed in media. When it is, there's often a sense that it's romanticized as well, in a way that may not reflect reality.
I love that anime so much, da feels, also soooo romantic
I want to go to tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, See Mount Fuji :D Cant Wait!!!!
Oh I love cardcaptor Sakura and Ik what Tokyo tower means haha but wow that looks amazong
CARDCAPTOR SAKURA is my favourite anime!
Maybe it's a little late to comment this, but a while ago i bought the Card Captor Sakura 60th anniversary manga collection and they're super cute and the covers have metal foil on them and at least the first tome has a cute bookmark. (I haven't opened the rest)
They're called:
なかよし60周年記念版
カードキャプターさくら
There's only 9 volumes and they are not expensive at all! :)
I also got the nausicaa full manga set, but I'm still a bit too far away from being able to read that one. haha
Thankyou for sharing this video!
Ohhh this sounds amazing! :D
日本語上手いですね
I just led watched to say that I love your channel and i found it today! And is your real last name Chan
Thank you!
Such a cute story :3
Since you don't live in Japan, how do find ways to study so you can remember and learn new things in Japanese?
