It is also with great honor that I now hold the records for the longest production time spent on a speedrun explained video, and the most amount of revisions made to a video before release.
Seeing as a lot of people are discovering this game through this video, it's truly a blessing that the Ashtray Maze is skipped. It's one of the most fun parts of any game I've ever played and I think a big part of that was because it was such a surprise.
Ngl I was disappointed with the Ashtray Maze. I'd somehow been tricked into thinking it was an extremely clever puzzle/maze, only to discover it was not that. I mean, it was kinda cool, but nowhere near lived up to the hype.

no you're describing Skip Ping, a 16th century mathematician who was the true first recorded to attempt walking twice at the same time in an attempt to cut his commute down.

I love the "remember when I said [Long explanation]" proceded by a flash back of that same explanation that was already in the video gag. It even helps processing it alongside the laughs
"In this worn out place, he fights the familiar faces from earlier. .." Casually working the lyrics to Mad World into a script for a speedrun is part of the reason I'm subscribed to you. It took a rewatch of the part to catch it, but that's pretty clever.
I never thought I'd see a day where a skip I found (nommasi) ended up in a tomatoanus video. Unreal. Great stuff, it's wild to see how far the speed tech for this game has come since the early days. Shoutouts to s10px, bry, lemuura, and the rest of the old school control discord folks.

You have no idea how much I appreciate the epilepsy warnings. So many channels don't do that, and so many games lack accessibility options to remove strobing. Namely this game which I love but have to play parts of it blind as the strobing effects are so common.
I love when runners go out of their way to do fun little things, like making a detour to get their favorite character outfit. Edit: Also, my god, this game might have the best glitch/skip names of all time. Wells Fargo is my favorite.

I love the way you break down speed runs, the amount of time that you put into the research, and the fact that you can get so much info from speed runners is awesome.
I really appreciate that even if something isn’t relevant to the video but it’s important to you, you’ll just say it. A lot of content creators shy away from certain social issues to keep things palatable but I really respect that you just say what you feel needs to be said all while making insanely entertaining content.
Actually being 23 I believe the problem is people at the core where half have lost the moral compass that used to be hammered into us and the other half is confused and manipulated

For the photo sensitivity tones, it may be a good idea to have the beginning and end tone sound slightly different (maybe ending tone pitched down a bit or something). Some of the segments in this run came back to back so it made it a little hard to tell which was a beginning tone and a ending tone as I wasn't looking at the screen.
Love SCP, wrote a couple over the years and was very excited when Control came out. It's not quite as diverse, obscure, or otherwise unsettling as SCPs can be, but the Hiss is a terrifying villain and the vibes are off the charts for the entire runtime. It's an easy recommendation for any fan of this type of horror.
@@jakerawlings6150 there are lots of little references too. Many of the notes, recordings, videos, and files strewn around the world read exactly like SCP-style flash fiction. I personally think the Hiss draws a bit of inspiration from 3125, one of my personal favorites. And the fridge is a huge 173 reference, of course.
That Maze part of the game was such a well-designed crescendo. By that time, you know how to play, and you get to unleash absolute devastation against all those mooks, it's great in accentuating just how far you (and Jesse) have come. The weird shit is no longer scary, you thrive on it.
Fantastic video as usual :) One suggestions - make the "start flashing warning" sound distinct from the "end flashing warning", since it's easy to lose track when also trying to listen to the excellent commentary

penetration resolution sounds more like a speedrunning trick than a developer term, ie "the penetration resolution is the resolution at which you can clip through certain objects or walls, which we use to skip this ten minute cutscene"
Minor correction @ 1:05:25 (contains minor story spoilers): the entity behind the big-ass door is actually called Hedron - Polaris (like the Hiss) doesn't have a physical form. Hedron serves as an anchor for Polaris, allowing it to exist in our reality, like the Hiss infected people do for the Hiss.

Thanks to this video, I understand why I hit such a massive difficulty spike and gave up. I encountered Mold-1 about 4 bosses early.
The thumbnail hooked me, tomatoanus made me wait through 2 unskippable ads, and that Max0r summarized this game makes me feel a certain way

99% of the time violence is gonna happen regardless of gun access to be fair. We are a violent species. Guns or no guns. Doesn’t matter. The greatest genocide of all time did not involve guns. Food for thought.

penetration resolution sounds more like a speedrunning trick than a developer term, ie "the penetration resolution is the resolution at which you can clip through certain objects or walls, which we use to skip this ten minute cutscene"

Dude I love this game so much! it took me about 30 hours to get 100% I couldn't recommend it more the story and gameplay are amazing
I wish someday he'll make a quake one, it has so many details about the route and skill necessary to do those

Minor correction @ 1:05:25 (contains minor story spoilers): the entity behind the big-ass door is actually called Hedron - Polaris (like the Hiss) doesn't have a physical form. Hedron serves as an anchor for Polaris, allowing it to exist in our reality, like the Hiss infected people do for the Hiss.

Woah. I just re-download this, played for a few hours, then stopped and saw this on TH-cam. Hell yeah dude. This game absolutely rules.
Damn, need to play this again. I blew it off when I saw a few teasers, because I’m a cynic, but this is one of the best games to come out in the last decade. I got if for free on PsPlus, and immediately bought the DLC a few minutes after playing.
