7:58 The foam pads are only for the mechanical HDD. M.2 drives do not need foam pads as they do not contain mechanical parts inside. Take note on this. I installed the two pads you mentioned at said timestamp for a 1TB HDD on my unit.

Thank you for watching. I agree, the foam pads are only for the mechanical drive to neutralize vibrations. How effective is it since you got the "mechanical" HDD?

Thank you for making such a helpful video. I could avoid breaking the plastic locks... may be this is the very first device that I could open without breaking any of the locks... ;) This became possible only with your detailed video. I also liked your honest comment that you broke one yourself... that made me extra cautious!
Thanks again!!! Full credit goes to you!

I might be totally wrong about this but I think smooth is somewhat wrong you can totally use both the drives the computer comes w and the sata drive you just have to make sure the cable is in all the way and when you turn the computer back in just initialize it and format it but he may be talking about something completely different when he says you can’t use both at the same time

These cables that I’ve talked about before(ideapad 3, 5, but not for my model) could be purchased right now, so that’s why i asked.

Seems to me you will have some Windows 11 Pro installing to do when you change your m.2 boot disc. 128GB is really a bit to tight for OS and necessary apps. Very nice and informative video. Two points: will the warranty of my new laptop will be void if I add the second sata 2.5” ssd and second my observation - the padding you put on the drive was primarily given for mechanical drives HDD as they have the moving drive but may not be required for ssd. Thanks

Thank you for watching. I would certainly say that if you open your laptop during the warranty period to do the upgrade then you would break the warranty terms. Good afternoon. Help, I want to buy Transcend 400S 512GB NVMe M.2 2242 PCIe 3.0 x4 3D NAND TLC. But I'm afraid he might not. Could you please let me know if this ssd will fit my IdeaPad Gaming 3-15IHU6 laptop in the first slot? I hope you understand me.

Hello! Thank you for watching. 2242 size will only fit in the 2242 slot that is opposite to 2280 slot. If one is facing you and to your left side then the other slot is to the far right. Make sure you got the screw also. You will probably get it with Transcend, can't be certain. Let me know what you were able to accomplish. Thank you.
