I'm a power tool wood worker who just inherited some stanley planes to include this model. This might be a dumb question because I really have no idea what I'm doing. No matter how I adjust this thing, I can't get the blade to protrude even the slightest past the seat of the plane. It contacts the adjustable throat and stops. What am I doing wrong

I have one of these planes, which I acquired in a job lot of tools, but the front quarter of the adjustable/eccentric throat plate has been sheared off at some point.. would love to find a replacement part for it. I'm not based in the States (I'm in the UK) but not sure where to check besides ebay and flea markets etc. Anyway, merry Christmas to you!
Merry Christmas Keith! I’m a big fan of your work and I’d like some advice. I’ve recently stripped my great grandfathers old Stanley no 4, there was only about 20% japanning left she was in a bad way. I love the way the raw cast iron looks and I want to keep it that way but she’s going to be a user so I want to protect from rust. Do you have any kind of clear coat product you’d recommend? Thanks and keep up the great work
Was there ever a "low-angle" offering similar to this, specifically with the "knuckle joint" type lever-cap? I always kinda wanted one of these... but if they can only be had with a 20-degree bed angle, there's not much point, at least for my purposes (as a practical user).
Keith, whats your stance on lapping planes (block or otherwise) with the blade/frog/lever cap installed and under the pressure they would be under during use? I know you lap your planes with the frog/blade removed. Do you not buy into the idea that the plane sole flexes when under the pressure of the lever cap? (I find it kind of hard to believe myself, but I do it anyway just in case) Just wanted to get your opinion.
I was able to pick up a couple pieces of black granite for my dad and me to sharpen our irons using our newly acquired General 810s! :D
So if I seen that spot by the throat I'd keep lapping. Am I wrong in doing that?
And where do you get that big piece of sandpaper?
I need an eccentric lever for that plane do you know where I can get one relatively reasonable

Is the beveled side up or down on the blade?

Great restoration, how did you get the pin out for the adjuster? Also any tips for fixing an adjuster that has the notches worn down?
