- Amira Willighagen and Patrizio Buanne perform 'O Sole Mio' during the 'Classics is Groot' concert held in South Africa on 30 July 2016.
Amira appeared as a guest on the show and she also performed two solo numbers viz. 'O mio babbino caro' and 'Nella Fantasia'.

I kinda laugh at people who worry about Amira singing too much. Do you guys know how much an opera singer sings, not only on stage, but in practice?? Amira's singing schedule is tiny compared to the professional singers. The problem is singing too much when you get Older! When your body doesn't repair its wear and tear so well. The problem for young singers is NOT singing too much, but singing correctly, which Amira certainly is doing now. Her vocals really good, she is being very well taught.

Words are not adequate to describe how beautiful this rendition of O Sole Mio was. Sometimes we're moved to tears by sadness or sorrow, and then there's the beauty of something that brings tears of joy and happiness at hearing an absolutely wonderful rendition of a timeless melody. I am so glad her voice has remained as rich as it was when she was 9 years old at Holland Got Talent. There was a worry they would train it out of her, but it still there, and getting stronger. Just listen to all the tones in that voice.
Very true. For some reason I didn't care for her voice back then but she's maturing and it'll continue to get better for decades. Brilliant girl.

Kelly G Actually, it's more amazing than you think. She was discovered on "Holland's Got Talent". I don't want to ruin it for you, her performance on there is on youtube but look it up and watch the judges' expressions when she sings! Also, you will learn that she taught herself and learned to sing it from one of the most unlikeliest of sources. Enjoy.

I know Patrizio personally and I can tell you that he is in awe of Amira....he admires her achievement very much, especially as he is a "self taught" singer as well, not as an Opera Singer, but a Crooner...
I think her parents gave her the name "Amira" because she was - and surely still is - their little princess ("Amira" is Arabic and means "princess".).
Sabine, thank you for your explanation, but that brings up the question why giving Amira an Arabic name when neither of her parents comes from a country where Arabic is spoken ? Moreover, I am delighted that my impression of this adorable child matches the meaning of her name.
In Germany, where I live - and I think also in the Netherlands, where Amira lives, most of the names aren't German or Dutch. In Germany German names became old-fashioned in the early 1960s. Most of the names are of foreign origin.
Sabine, once again I thank you for your explanation. As Jonny Carson, the one time host of the TV show by the same name, used to say :" I did not know that !" No wonder I am puzzled by some of the German names. I guess there are now not too many Hans, Fritz and Karl.
I find myself watching Amira videos over and over again. She is an enchanting talent and her voice is incredible for someone so young. I don't know when I've been so impressed by a performer and I'm not even an opera fan. I think I'm in love:)

Here I am a big hairy arsed oil rig worker in the middle of the North sea listening to this voice of an angle. I first seen her like many others on Hollands got talent. Every time I hear her voice I get goose bumps down my face and arm (hope its not a heart attack)

im a spaniard and im a rocker but i love these types of songs, i guess its a matter of taste. you dont have to be in opera by the way opera is a story being sung , i guess you heard phantom of the opera, Kats, west side story, etc . you have to open your mind and music doesnt have to be noise to be good but harmony and orchestra .

Aside from the obvious beauty of their voices, I also really liked Patrizio’s generosity. Other established stars would’ve felt threatened by a young up-and-comer and tried to overshadow her, like “Look at me, I’m the grown up here”. Instead he was more “Look at her, she’s great”. He knows that allowing your partner to shine only makes a duet better. :)

I've followed Amira's progress ever since her fantastic rendition of O Mio Caro Bambino at the age of 9 in Holland's Got Talent. And honestly no one has woke my interest in Opera until this kid showed up. I have to profess I am totally ignorant when it comes to Opera (I am into classical ballet and used to dance myself), but since Amira, I'm hooked.
First time I met this beautiful creature on Andre Rieu's concert. I had goosebumps. I could not master the tears. I jumped quickly to her first appearance on "Holland's got talents". About that fan base...when I say "solid" I mean ROCK SOLID...people are just OVER THE MOON over Amira...not just "fans" but the origin of that word: FANATICAL. Amira is a true "culture bomb" of incredible proportions...really there's never been anything quite like Amira.
her "fame" as you call it is exploding because people hear her sing. End of discussion. That's the reason. It's a gift of GOD, nobody has put out a sound quite like Amira, it's like a dream fulfilled, very enchanting. I can't wait for her next album, her next video, her next performance, her next recorded song.

similarly here in USA...the classical music station in NYC which does air opera at times still hasn't aired Amira Willighagen yet. But, there's a nice video on youtube out now which overlays Maria Callas and Amira both singing O Mio Babbino Caro and - it's take your pick what difference there is...none really. It may go back to my old bone of contention from when I was in the Amira Fan Club...Amira's career is just not being handled professionally. Angelina Jordan and Grace Van Derwaall both are getting better exposure, better video presentations, and more professional audio recordings. But NONE OF THESE KIDS have quite the devoted and broad based fan acclaim that Amira has. IMHO...ty.

Has it occurred to you that Amira herself may not wish for better exposure etc. You know how determined she is to be just Amira at school and elsewhere when she is not performing etc.. Her performances and travel take quite a lot of .time for her already and it's not for us to tell her that she must take more time and make professional videos for us to watch. It's her life and her voice.
So many want to compare her voice to that of Maria Callas. As I go back and listen to Maria Callas, my untrained ear much prefers Amira. Her sound is so pure and unexpected from one so young, and she has a natural showmanship that is unequaled as far as I'm concerned.

I stand in absolute awe at this beautiful little lady's tremendous talent!!! She has such an unbelievably, beautiful staccato ring to her voice that it stays with you even long after she has stopped singing!! What an extraordinary performance by both of these world class artists !!!
