Amira appeared as a guest on the show and she also performed two solo numbers viz. 'O mio babbino caro' and 'Nella Fantasia'.

I kinda laugh at people who worry about Amira singing too much. Do you guys know how much an opera singer sings, not only on stage, but in practice?? Amira's singing schedule is tiny compared to the professional singers. The problem is singing too much when you get Older! When your body doesn't repair its wear and tear so well. The problem for young singers is NOT singing too much, but singing correctly, which Amira certainly is doing now. Her vocals really good, she is being very well taught.
O Sole Mio! There's so much sunshine here, in both their faces, enough to brighten the dullest of days. A fabulous duet, sung beautifully with drama and joy!

Kelly G Actually, it's more amazing than you think. She was discovered on "Holland's Got Talent". I don't want to ruin it for you, her performance on there is on youtube but look it up and watch the judges' expressions when she sings! Also, you will learn that she taught herself and learned to sing it from one of the most unlikeliest of sources. Enjoy.

I am so glad her voice has remained as rich as it was when she was 9 years old at Holland Got Talent. There was a worry they would train it out of her, but it still there, and getting stronger. Just listen to all the tones in that voice.

I know Patrizio personally and I can tell you that he is in awe of Amira....he admires her achievement very much, especially as he is a "self taught" singer as well, not as an Opera Singer, but a Crooner...
I think her parents gave her the name "Amira" because she was - and surely still is - their little princess ("Amira" is Arabic and means "princess".).
Sabine, thank you for your explanation, but that brings up the question why giving Amira an Arabic name when neither of her parents comes from a country where Arabic is spoken ? Moreover, I am delighted that my impression of this adorable child matches the meaning of her name.
In Germany, where I live - and I think also in the Netherlands, where Amira lives, most of the names aren't German or Dutch. In Germany German names became old-fashioned in the early 1960s. Most of the names are of foreign origin.
Sabine, once again I thank you for your explanation. As Jonny Carson, the one time host of the TV show by the same name, used to say :" I did not know that !" No wonder I am puzzled by some of the German names. I guess there are now not too many Hans, Fritz and Karl.

There are many people, I'm sure with the best of intentions, who lambaste Amira's parents by telling them that Amira is going to ruin her voice by singing as she does. I can name two young girls who were singing on stage at an early age, one of whom was singing in public when she was eight years old and the other before she was twelve, Belle Silverman and Julia Wells. Many of you won't recognize their names because those are the names they were born with. One of them was Beverly Sills, one of the greatest coloratura sopranos of all time, and the other we now know as Julie Andrews. I wonder.if they had to endure the same flack when they were young as Amira has to go through today. The two I have cited had professional training and both were singing opera arias as children and they endured for decades. Amira is being taught by some of the top voice teachers available.today and I as a classically trained singer can assure you that if she continues as she is now she can have a very long and illustrious career.
Another special young girl (age 13) was Elisabeth Schwarzkopf.
I'm nor aware of her training at the present time, but I do know that when she won the "Hollands Got Talent" contest it was prior to any training at all. She is gifted with raw natural talent like I have never witnessed in my lifetime. And I am now 70 years old.

I stand by what I said this, in my opinion, is the finest and most beautiful version of this piece sung as a duet I have heard, however not everyone will agree, that is their right. To those I would just say one thing, similar to the comment I made on another youngsters fan site. When dealing with a child like Amira I leave the criticism to those close to her who are advising her, they know her I don't. Remember she is still a child and emotionally will bruise easily. If I don't like one of her performances or a performance of any youngster I simply keep my views to myself. Even with the best intensions the wrong word at this age can hurt a lot, and I don't want her hurt.

Aside from the obvious beauty of their voices, I also really liked Patrizio’s generosity. Other established stars would’ve felt threatened by a young up-and-comer and tried to overshadow her, like “Look at me, I’m the grown up here”. Instead he was more “Look at her, she’s great”. He knows that allowing your partner to shine only makes a duet better. :)

I never liked this kind of song, this way of singing but I accidentally clicked on a video of Amira when she was 9 years old and frankly she amazed me! I love her voice, her performances, she is becoming a great lady of opera song.

im a spaniard and im a rocker but i love these types of songs, i guess its a matter of taste. you dont have to be in opera by the way opera is a story being sung , i guess you heard phantom of the opera, Kats, west side story, etc . you have to open your mind and music doesnt have to be noise to be good but harmony and orchestra .

I can't stop watching their performance! Amira has the voice of an angel and Patrizio has a classical beautiful pitch. This was a great blend of two voices. I love it. Unbelievable. Patrizio has a wonderful, romantic latin voice, well suited to the song. But then Amira, this beautiful little figure, releases a veritable tsunami of sound with such beauty, power and force that she almost blows Patrizio off the stage! … and he’s loving it.

Amira has developed a solid fan base...and it is truly world-wide...and she hasn't really "come out" fully professionally yet. About that fan base...when I say "solid" I mean ROCK SOLID...people are just OVER THE MOON over Amira...not just "fans" but the origin of that word: FANATICAL. Amira is a true "culture bomb" of incredible proportions...really there's never been anything quite like Amira.
her "fame" as you call it is exploding because people hear her sing. End of discussion. That's the reason. similarly here in USA...the classical music station in NYC which does air opera at times still hasn't aired Amira Willighagen yet. But, there's a nice video on youtube out now which overlays Maria Callas and Amira both singing O Mio Babbino Caro and - it's take your pick what difference there is...none really. It may go back to my old bone of contention from when I was in the Amira Fan Club...Amira's career is just not being handled professionally. Angelina Jordan and Grace Van Derwaall both are getting better exposure, better video presentations, and more professional audio recordings. Has it occurred to you that Amira herself may not wish for better exposure etc. You know how determined she is to be just Amira at school and elsewhere when she is not performing etc.. Her performances and travel take quite a lot of .time for her already and it's not for us to tell her that she must take more time and make professional videos for us to watch. It's her life and her voice.

Amira is a born natural, a simply stunning voice.
So many want to compare her voice to that of Maria Callas. As I go back and listen to Maria Callas, my untrained ear much prefers Amira. Her sound is so pure and unexpected from one so young, and she has a natural showmanship that is unequaled as far as I'm concerned.

I don't know what they are singing but they sure are singing beautiful music together. Amazing talent at young age. As this was performed 7 years ago, I wonder how she is doing today and if they continue to sing duets together.
