We just had this issue - For anyone landing here, I found going into the compound clip, right clicking on the audio track that wasn't displaying it and giving it an AUDIO ROLE (i.e. to assign the sound wave a unique color and name) it seemed to make it appear on the main timeline again, too. I suspect it's a certain type of audio file that triggers this, as it's never happened to us before, and happened for an audio track that had been provided to us by another creator (who likely uses different mic, software etc).
