J.P crawford has actually be decent defensively this year. 88th% in OAA. He's just not hitting anything despite pretty good plate discipline. I think Seattle needs some new coaching or analytics people, because something isn't working. And they have a window of contention that they need to capitalize on. But the clock is ticking.
The number of Double Plays the Cardinals have turned on the strength of Winn's arm cannot be understated. People give all sorts of love to Elly de la Cruz and Oneil Cruz in the NL Central because they're massive human beings that play some good, flashy ball but Winn has them both beat in WAR so far this year. Dude doesn't have the same power as them but he's been batting around .300 all year and is spraying the ball all over the field in the lead off spot with Alec "Biscuits" Burleson raking behind him. If he keeps this up and you have a plus defensive shortstop with a laser-rocket arm that can bat around .300 do you know what you call that? A Hall of Famer. The Cardinals doing what they're doing without Arenado and Goldy playing well and with Contreras being out for most of the time they got hot bodes well. HOPEFULLY we can get Walker swinging like he should and get Noot healthy and the team will reclaim their Devil Magic.

I think a couple of these teams that are still in it, will realize that they aren't actually in it. The Nationals for example. We should have a few more sellers than we think. A few of these middle class teams will take advantage of the fact that there are few sellers to really reinforce their prospect capital. The Orioles did this a couple years ago. They were hanging around at the deadline but decided to sell with the knowledge they probably were not quite ready. Other than the Nationals I could see the Mets, Pirates, Reds, Giants all be potential sellers despite being in the race. The Rays will likely be sellers, Blue Jays big sellers. I think the deadline will be as exciting as ever.
Brewers been in the playoffs the past like 6 of 7 years, winning the division most of the time, had the best closer in baseball, the best pitcher in baseball, and the 2018 and should have been 2019 MVP. Noooobody talking about them tho....

But they REALLY need to grab another starting pitcher, they only have 4 healthy SP on their 40 man roster which is insanely unlucky
Adding to that, the Astros have a .630~ win% without Jose Abreu, and they were doing pretty damn good until they recalled him back and they started to lose again before cutting him entirely lol.
As a cardinals fan, I am cautiously optimistic that they will be doing something at or before the trade deadline which means we will get 2 relievers and starter that no one knows but they find that cardinals devil magic. But yes, we LOVE masyn winn!! He got that dawg in him 🦮😤

Foolish is the man, and totally right. Diaz has not been great. The reds have played I think 19 one run games and only won I think 2 or 3. The snake bite is real, 2024 has not seen the full team we were supposed to have.
John Stanton and Jerry Dipoto simply refuse to build a solid offense. Just rely on Julio to be a superstar… which seems to be why he’s been so underwhelming. Nothing but old washed vets, spent $40M on Garver, Polanco, Urias and Haniger and they’ve been AWFUL!! Urias got DFAd and hasn’t even been a thought since. They need real, young talent to support Julio which unfortunately you have to pay money for and the mariners FO won’t do that

Also fun fact who is the team with the least blown saves? The REDS. We have 5 blown saves total on the year. THE BULLPEN ISN’T THE ISSUE. ITS THE BATS. OUR PITCHERS GET NO RUN SUPPORT WHEN WE NEED IT. foolish should look a bit deeper before he has takes that make absolutely zero sense. On top of everything else , we are 24th in errors on the year as well. So if you want to blame the reds for anything, it’s the run support and the awful management of David bell because he is one of the worst managers in baseball too.
