I repair vintage turntables and sell them for fair prices. I'm 57 years old and to me vinyl didn't come back, it never went away. I think it's sad that young people want to get into vinyl and they use an ION or a Crosley and think what's the big deal this doesn't sound good at all. My point is unless you spend a good chunk of money on a new table you're better off with something from the 70's early 80's, better build quality and tighter tolerance parts

Wow you've just convinced me to never buy a Rega.

Only seen that when someone has tried to remove an endstub that's tight and they hold the wrong part of the tonearm when doing it, or trying to undo it when it's still screwed to the plinth.
To keep the supplatter in position when turning the plinth upside down, I use an old belt over the front and back of the plinth, with the belt also going over the subplatter.
A cable tie would also work to hold it together while waiting on the glue to set.

I have never had any interest in Rega turntables, but after this video I decided to look up the P1. All I can say is wow. Plastic platter? Non-adjustable tonearm? The tonearm does not even use their famous one-piece cast armtube.
I especially like how they extoll the sonic virtues of their "high density fibreboard plinth with laminated skins on both sides" - basically, this turntable is made of the same stuff as cheap kitchen countertops. All yours for €360, delivery not included.

It is ridiculously overpriced for what you get. But, believe it or not, it does sound very good.

You clearly have no understanding of the design concepts behind the deck ....which happens to be the best sounding at the price.

Id be intetested to hear what you think of them vs any Technics semi auto quartz lock. The tone arm looks interesting albeit cheaply made. It is super long. I have several dual and technics units. 1219 is the go to or the sl q202 at3600L is an enjoyable entry cart.

I have a collection of Technics tables. My go to tables are my 1200mk2, SL-MA1 and SL1300. I'm a huge fan of direct drive and nobody did it better than Technics.

A rega planar 1 is a first true hifi turntable and is built to cost but does sound fantastic.
If been me id have bought a second hand rb220 tonearm which would've been an upgrade and solved the issue for not a lot of coin.
I do think glue isn't an Ideal solution as eventually the glue will give out.

That’s been dropped or something has smashed into the tonearm,I’ve never known a rega arm to break like that!

    • @TurntableGuy
      @TurntableGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

The table was never dropped as there is no damage to the plinth, but I agree that some external force was applied to the tonearm.

It is possible to get a Rega turntable to sound good but you have to spend another 400 dollars to do so I put a glass platter and a better cartridge and stylus anti skate sucks and they have no hinges

These things cost $595 dollars on amazon and you get cheap plastic junk on the tone? But sounds like he did not get it new tho. So who ever had it was not telling the truth on this player. And im sure thats why they sold it. Yeah it was from the person yanking on the thing that it got like that but still. Thank god I found a awsome Realistic LAB-420 Direct-Drive Turntable. A awsome TT and like new with the new top cover I got for it and new feet to.

The LAB420 was manufactured by CEC in Japan - they were very well built.
