  • The Supreme Court will hear landmark arguments Thursday concerning the scope of presidential powers, as Trump’s attorneys say he has absolute immunity from federal prosecution for any official acts. Retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Stephen Breyer joins Andrea Mitchel to discuss his time on the Court, Trump’s historic case and his new book “Reading the Constitution: Why I chose Pragmatism, Not Textualism.”

Exactly! Textualism? Seriously??? What happened to the first 2/3rds of the Second Amendment??? Or was that just a bunch of 'text' they decided to ignore when they ruled that every freaking man, woman and dog should allowed to own a gun?? Even though it's patently clear that is NOT what the 2nd Amendment was saying at all! (sorry, i'm ranting, LoL! This man should STILL be on the Court!)

While I think Justice Breyer made the right decision to step aside from the SCOTUS when he did, I think he really will be missed as well. I always find myself agreeing with his views whenever I hear him speaking on several subjects. It's clear that he focused much of his career arguing about abstract concept not for the sake of the intellectual exercise, but to make sure that the law of the land ends up serving citizens of the US. His pragmatic approach is, in my opinion, very laudable, and he is great at breaking down concepts in a way that everyone can understand.
